Dean John, from Ripon is the speaker at Deanery Synod on Monday November 2nd, Colburn Church Hall at 7.00pm. This is an open meeting so anyone interested in hearing or meeting him is very welcome. Tuesday 10th November 2pm (one hour) ‘Dementia Friends’ free Information Session in Richmond Town Hall. Antony McFarland will help us to learn more about dementia and small ways we can help. Today marks the start of donations for Charity of the Month, with Barnados being the chosen charity for this month. Their work with vulnerable children and their families is well known. A bowl is at the back of church for donations, which are completely voluntary. Any gift, no matter how small, will be an encouragement in their work of identifying with their care for others. The collections will be on the first Sunday of each month with the next (for Embrace the Middle East) on Sunday December 6th. Thank you to everyone who supported the Friends of St Mary’s Quiz evening. It was a really enjoyable evening and £221.50 was raised for church funds.
DATES FOR THE DIARY Sunday 15th November, 4.00pm Café Church. An informal service during which we enjoy time together with home baking and refreshments, round cafe style tables. Speaker Janet Henderson, who many will remember as Archdeacon of Richmond. There will be opportunity for questions and discussion around her subject of "The path of prayer: does praying change anything?" We will close with the quiet service of compline. Saturday 28th November Christian Aid Coffee Morning This is our annual Richmond Churches coffee morning and 8 helpers are needed to cover St Mary’s slot, between 10.40am and noon. The Catholic church is covering 8.00-9.20am and the Methodists 9.2010.40am. Offers of help to Anne Simpson, Sheila Pearson or Judith Barber. There will also be a cake stall so any cakes/jams/chutneys will be gratefully received.
