Sue Rees is going to Abseil Bamburgh Castle on Sunday 30th August in aid of the local Macmillan nurses who helped them through John’s terminal illness. They supply all the equipment not readily available on the NHS. After the Cards and Visitors Bereavement is a very difficult time for the spouse/partner left behind. Starting again on your own is even more difficult. The Return of the Oxford Gargoyles Following last year's successful concert, the Oxford Gargoyles will be performing again at St. Mary's on Monday 3rd August at 7.00pm. This year, they are supporting the Bell Tower Restoration Appeal. Tickets are ÂŁ10 for adults and ÂŁ5 for under-19s, to include refreshments and a glass of wine. Tickets are available from Brett Overin 821372 or Peter Trewby 824468, or on the door. Rev Antony will be leaving for pastures new and there will be a farewell service and presentation for him on Sunday 13th Sept at 6.30pm. If you would like to give a donation for a gift please can you place it in an envelope and give it clearly marked - "Donation AK" to Gillian Lunn. Thursday 6th August MU celebration for Mary Sumner Day with mid-day prayers in Ripon Cathedral. This will be followed by a picnic in Canon Paul’s garden. If wet it will be in the Cathedral Hall. Saturday 26th September - Prof. the Rev. Jeff Astley, on 'Why do we suffer if God is so good?' He is a distinguished theologian who, amongst others, taught the current Archbishop of Canterbury!
