Charity of the Month On Sunday November 1st, St Mary's will be launching a new way of charitable giving. We will be supporting a 'charity of the month' with a retiring collection every first Sunday of each month. This will be entirely voluntary, but will be a way of supporting others in their Christian work or their care for the disadvantaged. Please fill in the voting form to say which charities you would like from the list of twenty charities. Six home based charities and six with their focus abroad will be the chosen charities for the next year, depending on their number of votes. Do take the form home to think about it if you would like - there's a list of web addresses at the back of church for those with internet access. A box for votes will be at the back of church and some slips to put into the box if you'd like to make suggestions of charities for the following year. Joy Hornsby would like to thank the members of St Mary’s for the card, cake and kind words she received last Sunday. Your support has always been much appreciated, and that day was no exception.
On Sunday 13th September we bid farewell to Antony and Debbie at an evening Eucharist at 6.30pm in St Mary's Church. We look forward to sharing some time together afterwards over tea, coffee and cakes. If you would like to provide some home baking or biscuits for this please bring it to either the 10am service or the evening service. Janet Morel and Gillian would be very grateful.
Cafe Church @ St Mary's - Coming soon. Our first service will be on Sunday 20th September at 4pm when our speaker will be Bishop John Pritchard. He retired as Bishop of Oxford at the end of last year but continues with a teaching, preaching and writing ministry. His books include 'How to Pray', 'Living Jesus', 'God Lost and Found', 'The Journey' and 'The Intercessions Handbook'. John and Wendy now worship with us at St Mary’s. We look forward very much to hearing his talk, ‘Enchanted by his company’: journeying with Jesus, followed by a time of discussion and a quiet service of compline at the end. We'll sit around cafe style tables, enjoying tea, coffee and home baking in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Any questions please see Gillian Lunn or Wendy Pritchard.
