Preschool Camps (Ages 3 - 5)

Your child will learn about the people, plants and animals that make up the 17th state of our country! Your little camper will have adventure-filled days while learning about the Buckeye State! Gilmour Academy’s preschool camps are for children ages 3-5. Weekly themes for all campers will integrate music, cooking, arts, drama, storytelling and fitness exercise. Our program includes swimming in Gilmour’s natatorium, nature walks, creative play, field trips, handson science, ice skating in our Ice Arena, tennis, tae kwon do, outdoor playground equipment and sports. Both half- and full-day sessions are offered for your convenience. Each group is supervised by a degreed teacher and senior counselors. Before and after camp care is available. Our longer camp hours are ideal for working parents. Ohio Rocks! Week Offered: June 11 - June 15 We live in the state where rock and roll was born; let’s celebrate! Gilmour’s gymnastics instructor, Mrs. Katie Clark, will have your child rocking along during music and movement and rolling around with tumbling. We will have lots of fun moving and shaking to the beat.

Wild about Ohio Week Offered: June 18 - June 22 Walk, waddle and wiggle your way across Ohio. Come along with us as we meet some native friends. We will parade through parks, hike up hills and trek down trails to catch a glimpse of some of the creatures that call Ohio their home. Blast from the Past Week Offered: June 25 - June 29 Be prepared for a blast from the past as we travel back to the time of Native Americans and pioneers. Spend the week following in the footsteps of the Native Americans, living and learning as we embrace their culture. Then your child will have a chance to journey through the 1800s as we learn about pioneer life. All Aboard! Week Offered: July 2 - July 6* (four-day week) Come see what makes Ohio special! Jump on board for an exciting ride on the B&O Railroad. Discover the precious treasures that lie within our borders that make Ohio an important part of the United States. (*The cost for this four-day camp week is $300.) Dig In! Week Offered: July 9 - July 13 From grass and flowers to cornstalks and maple trees, we are surrounded by plants. Get ready for a nature investigation beginning beneath the soil. Grab a shovel and bring on the dirt! Bright Idea Week Offered: July 16 - July 20 Have an idea? Bring your thinking cap along as we immerse ourselves in the wonderful world of inventing. We will learn about inventions from Ohio, such as the airplane, and practice skills in the inventor’s workshop! Blastoff! Week Offered: July 23 - July 27 Join us as we travel through the galaxy that many famous Ohio astronauts once explored. Be ready for a space adventure where we will take off and let our imaginations run wild as we journey through the stars.

A fun and action-filled summer awaits you at Gilmour Day Camp! Now in its 59th year, Gilmour Day Camp offers numerous activities for boys and girls ages 5-11 from Kindergarten to sixth grade. Campers will enjoy swimming, ice skating, basketball, baseball, soccer, flag football, tae kwon do, tennis and volleyball. From playing sports to making tie-dyed shirts, Gilmour has something for everyone. Campers are introduced to the fundamentals of different sports and activities with team spirit, fair play and personal growth as the ultimate goals. What could be better than making new friends, enjoying a delicious lunch in our Commons or taking a field trip to one of the local attractions? How about participating in various sports, arts and crafts, picnics and games on our beautiful 144-acre campus? Experienced faculty, alumni and students provide the guidance and supervision to create a summer camp experience that children will never forget.


Weekly Camps (Ages 7 - 14)

ACE OF BAKES Ages 11 - 14 Week Offered: June 11 - June 15 Week Offered: June 18 - June 22 Because of popular demand, we are offering this camp twice! Measure and follow recipes. Create various homemade edible delights. Take a field trip to a local bakery to see how a professional kitchen operates. BUILD YOUR OWN BUSINESS Ages 11 - 14 Week Offered: July 2 - July 6* (four-day week) How would you like to be your own boss? Learn and practice what entrepreneurs do. Brainstorm business ideas with others, produce a product or service, and see if you can sell it to others! Today’s hottest tips about young entrepreneurs will be shared. (*The cost for this four-day camp week is $300.) Take the Stage Ages 10 - 14 Week Offered: July 9 - July 13 Perform like a pro with noted playwright/producer/director/actor Matt Greenfield. Produce an original play with your fellow campers. Then go on stage to entertain a live audience! MAKE A MOVIE: STORY DESIGN Ages 7 - 10 Week Offered: July 16 - July 20 Harry Potter proves that modern movies mesmerize audiences. Create your own unforgettable character, make a star-studded movie and take home an original DVD. Your imagination is our priority! MAKE A MOVIE: TRAVEL Ages 11 - 14 Week Offered: July 23 - July 27 Get wild and crazy at the Cleveland Zoo, and then glide through the day at Cleveland’s all-new Aquarium! Enjoy the summer breeze while on the Goodtime III, and finally get your game on at Fun ‘n’ Stuff. All the while, smile for the camera, so you can enjoy taking home a fun video as a souvenir. ALL SPORTS ALL-STARS Ages 12 - 14 Weeks Offered: June 11, June 18, June 25, July 2*, July 9, July 16, July 23 Specially designed for our older campers, this camp replaces our previous Multi-Sports Camp. With this target age group, campers will enjoy a multitude of sports activities such as baseball, flag football, soccer, lacrosse, broom ball, volleyball, basketball and open swim. Equipment: shorts, sneakers, change of clothes, swimsuit/trunks and sunscreen are required. Gilmour provides most necessary equipment, but you are welcome to bring your own. (*The cost for this four-day camp week is $300.)

JEWELRY GALORE! Ages 10 - 14 Week Offered: June 25 - June 29 Make your own jewelry using all kinds of materials. Explore glass, fimo clay, seed beads and more. Visit a local jewelry artist in her bead store and pick out your own beads. Pinhole to Pixels Ages 10 - 14 Week Offered: July 2* - July 6 (four-day week) Make your own pinhole camera and start taking pictures right away. As you hike around our campus, various lighting conditions will test your camera and your photography skills. As you develop your work in the dark room, you will see how light works the same way in pinhole cameras as it does in digital cameras. The week will end with a Photoshop® exhibit of your work. (*The cost for this four-day camp week is $200.) COMIC BOOK DESIGNER Ages 10 - 14 Week Offered: July 9 - July 13 Calling all writers and artists. This is your opportunity to let your imagination come alive on the page in front of you. Campers will design their own graphic stories! Campers produce their own characters, concepts, storylines and images. Last year’s stories are as unique and interesting as the campers and their dreams. Become the author and illustrator of your own superhero! Lego® ARCHITECTURE AND AUTOMOBILES Ages 6 - 10 Week Offered: July 16 - July 20 Week Offered: July 23 - July 27 Challenge yourself to construct landmark buildings in the quest to co-design a Lego® city. Our collection includes the Guggenheim Museum, the Empire State Building and the White House. Have fun playing architect for a week. Enjoy some downtime with Lego® videogames on a big screen. Take home your own Lego® car as a keepsake.

Gilmour Hockey Camps allow for intensive skill-specific training for players who love the game of hockey and desire to be the best at their positions. Players are grouped by age and ability to help build confidence and develop their skills.

Learn-to-Play-Hockey Camp Week Offered: June 11 - 15 Ages 4-12 This is an instructional program for new or nearly-new hockey players. It is recommended that participants have a basic skating background. The emphasis of this program is on developing an appreciation of ice hockey using the American Development Model (ADM) introduced by USA Hockey to successfully develop American Hockey players. Ask us about our Rental Equipment Program. Hockey/Baseball Camp Week Offered: June 11 - 15 Ages 6-14 Hockey/Baseball Camp provides a unique opportunity for players to receive individual and team instruction in both sports. The camp focuses on skills that will enable players to improve their individual performance. Hockey/Golf Camp Week Offered: June 18 - 22 Ages 6-14 Whether you are a beginning golfer or a seasoned competitor, this camp provides an atmosphere of safe, informative and fun instruction. Campers will receive excellent hockey and golf training provided on the Gilmour campus and at the Golf Dome.

“The Puck Stops Here” Goaltending Camp Week Offered: June 25 - 29 Ages 6-14 The puck stops here! The most important position on ice is the goaltender. This camp has developed an innovative program that fosters confidence while significantly increasing the goaltender’s ability to stop the puck. The PSH staff believes that goaltenders need to find a style that fits their size, flexibility, quickness and creativity. “Shoot and Score” Camp Week Offered: June 25 - 29 Ages 6-14 The number one focus of this camp is to score goals. Scoring strategies covered include wrist shots, snap shots, backhands, dekes, tips and rebounds. We will teach the basics of on-ice vision, awareness and reading the goaltender. Become a goal scorer! High Intensity Training Camp – “H.I.T.” Weeks Offered: July 9 - 13 & July 16 - 20 Ages 6-14 The High Intensity Training Camp is Gilmour’s signature hockey camp. It is one of the best camps in North America when ice time, instruction and cost are compared. Players skate close to FIVE hours a day. The instructional staff demands hard work physically and mentally. All drills are designed to increase the player’s speed as well as the ability to read and react quickly. The “H.I.T” Camp is for players who have developed a solid base of fundamentals and want to keep improving. Girls’ OVERNIGHT Hockey Camp Week Offered: July 15 - 20 The Girls’ Overnight Ice Hockey Camp is a week designed to help players develop fundamental skills. The emphasis is placed on individual development as well as team skills and concepts. The camp features a small coach-to-player ratio. Our staff includes instructors who played college hockey. We provide the best possible learning environment in our facilities. Check-in begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Camp concludes Friday at 1 p.m. Full equipment is required. The cost is $575 and includes housing and meals for the week; $450 for commuting campers. “One-on-One” DefensemEn Camp Week Offered: July 23 - 27 Ages 6-14 We choose to call this specialized defensemen camp “One-on-One” because all of the best defensemen have the ability to consistently win one-on-one situations. This is the foundation of their game and allows defensemen to be the backbone of any team. advanced conditioning Camp Week Offered: July 30 - August 3 Ages 6-14 This is the best camp for players who wish to improve their knowledge and skills necessary to play this fast-paced game. This camp provides three hours of ice time each day and is designed for varying degrees of ability. Power Skating Camp Week Offered: August 6 - 1o Ages 6-14 Power skating is the most overlooked skill in hockey. Our staff will teach the techniques necessary to improve stride, agility, speed, quickness and power. The focus will be on proper use of edges to maximize speed and body control. This camp offers approximately four hours of on-ice instruction per day. Additional off-ice instruction will focus on leg strength and balance. Women’s Weekend Hockey Camp Weekend Offered: August 10 - 12 Ages 18 and over Gilmour’s Adult Women’s Weekend Hockey Camp is for the player who is looking to develop her skills along with obtaining a better understanding of game strategy. Game situations and proper defensive technique will be covered. This camp will include teambuilding, yoga and dryland skill training with emphasis on skill development at all levels. Check-in begins at 3 p.m. on Friday. Saturday and Sunday schedules (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.) will include on-ice and off-ice training each day. Full equipment is required. The cost is $250 and includes meals for the weekend.


Basketball Camps (Ages 5 - 13)

Gilmour’s Got Game. Do you? Find out at our challenging Basketball Camp. Learn from experienced Gilmour coaches and players in our spectacular state-ofthe-art Athletic Center. The 17,000-square-foot gymnasium has six baskets with glass blackboards, and the 84 x 50foot court has the same type of surface that the Cleveland Cavaliers practice on at their facility. The setting is conducive to learning the game.

Learn to effectively move without the ball around the court and to create your own shots. Benefit from the individual attention of our coaches as you practice through 5-5 team play and 3-3 team play. Those enrolled in other Gilmour Day Camps may sign up for Basketball Camp and return to Day Camp at 11:30 a.m. or leave Day Camp at 1 p.m. and attend Basketball Camp. The Basketball Camp fee will be waived. Equipment: All campers must have tennis shoes (no black soles), shorts, socks and a T-shirt.

Baseball Camp Week Offered: June 11 - 15 Age group: boys and girls 5 - 12 years old The goal of the Baseball Camp is to provide quality instruction for improvement of a player’s team and individual skills in a positive, enthusiastic and enjoyable environment. Equipment: baseball glove, sneakers and athletic supporter are required; bat, spikes and batting glove are optional. Golf Camp Weeks Offered: June 18 - 22 and June 25 - 29 Age group: boys and girls 5 - 12 years old The golf instructional staff is dedicated to achieving the ultimate goal of helping your child learn and enjoy the sport of golf in a fun and safe environment. In addition to Gilmour Academy’s on-campus driving range, short game area and putting green, campers will play nine holes of golf on the final day of camp at a local golf course. All campers will have an in-depth video analysis of their swing. Equipment: golf clubs (putter, wedge and driver) and bag, golf balls, sneakers or golf shoes, change of clothes and swimsuit/trunks (when needed) are recommended but not required. Boys Lacrosse Camp Week Offered: July 9 - 13 Age group: boys 5 - 12 years old The Lacrosse Camp staff is comprised of college and high school coaches who understand the importance of fundamental skill development. Players of all levels will refine their skills and receive quality instruction on our Pro-Grass Turf stadium. Equipment: full equipment recommended; helmet, gloves and stick are required. Outdoor Adventure Camp Weeks Offered: July 16 - 20 and July 23 - 27 Age group: boys and girls 7 - 12 years old This program for girls and boys is designed to focus on developing skills in a variety of activities and adventure trips. Camp may include the following activities: hiking, fishing, orienteering, rock climbing, canoeing, survival skills, arts and crafts, team building and an overnight camping trip. *Cost is $425 per week.

Summer Camp Refund Policy Registration fees for Gilmour’s Summer Day Camp programs that are paid online are non-refundable unless cancelled by June 1. If registration for a camp program is cancelled prior to June 1, registration fees will be refunded subject to the deduction of a $100 cancelation fee. If you wish to cancel your registration for Gilmour’s Summer Day Camp program, you must contact the camp director at (440) 684-4580. Before- and After-Camp Care is available.
