BRUTALE 1000 RR

NEW BRUTALE 1000 RR, POWERFUL SEDUCTION.

‚‚ 01

Conceived along with the extraordinary Serie Oro, the Brutale 1000 RR seduces with the same powerful appeal, a summary of stylistic, technical and dynamic choices that is unique in the segment. Being easily approachable and accessible performance were the central priorities in designing the new Brutale. www.ginzinger.at

In recent years, the continuous increase in power for the sportiest models has not been accompanied by a proportional improvement in road quality and safety. This is why guaranteeing that the bike is particularly manageable in all conditions of use is so necessary. The goal? To obtain the most from chassis

architecture, engine and electronics with minimum rider effort, even when performance is exceptional, as in the case of the Brutale 1000 RR. A spectacular Superbike Replica. An exclusive sport naked bike. An incredibly easy bike to ride.

DESIGN AND OUTFITTING The design concept of the new Brutale 1000 RR is deeply rooted in the first Brutale which, along with the F4 supersport bike, marked the Italian brand’s sensational return onto the global stage. Since then, Brutale has been synonymous with “outstanding performance sport naked bike”.

‹‹ 03

The DNA of that bike, which was so unique in its charm and history, returns now in the form of the new Brutale 1000 RR. The impact of the headlight unit is just as attractive as it was then, modernised by an original and extremely popular stylistic interpretation. Popularity that can be found throughout the

many details that contribute to defining the stylistic personality of this bike. With a strong, natural and instinctive dynamic character, captured and simultaneously enhanced by the design of Adrian Morton, the Brutale 1000 RR conveys its personality even with the engine switched off, parked at the side of the road.

The riding position also contributes to defining its character, reflecting one of the qualifying points of the design, namely the natural integration of rider and vehicle, enhanced by the functionality and beauty of the instrumentation and the controls.

internal coloured X-shaped section, another exclusive feature, is enhanced by the Daylight Running Lights, designed to define a lighting effect that makes the new Brutale immediately unmistakable from any angle.

The design comes alive with tight lines and perfectly balanced front and rear end shapes: this balance which has been the distinctive trait of the four-cylinder Brutale, right from the first iconic 1997 model. The most typical and personal features, including headlight, fuel tank and tail fairing, were designed and manufactured specifically for this new Brutale.

The emotional experience offered by the Brutale 1000 RR is the same as the Serie Oro, thanks to outfitting choices that make the two models very similar.

The full-LED headlight uses Cornering Lights for improved performance, managed from the inertial platform: the light beam changes direction and angle based on the dynamic position of the bike. The headlight, that also stands out because of the

The superstructure of the 1000 RR also include elegantly modelled carbon fibre elements. The steel fastening hardware has an optimised design that makes it as light as possible. The rims on the 1000 RR are made of aluminium with a painstaking forging process. They boast a specific design and, thanks to the attention given to reducing their weight, they contribute to the outstanding final result achieved by the 1000 RR, with its 186 kg kerb weight.

The second generation, 5-inch colour TFT display, with 800 by 480 pixel resolution, is the main interface between rider and vehicle. Bright and easy to read in any light conditions, in just a few steps, it provides access to the myriad possibilities of personalising the bike. Access to the numerous configuration menus is immediate thanks to the electric handlebar controls and the logical linear menu structure. Instrumentation allows Bluetooth connection with your smartphone to manage incoming calls, messages and music. Cruise control comes standard and proves to be extremely convenient, even on a hyper naked like the 1000 RR. And then, with the new MV Ride app, it is super easy to personalise every detail of the bike, with the engine, suspension and safety menus just a click away. For example, in just a few simple steps, you can adjust the response of the Öhlins EC control unit directly from your smartphone. Just a touch to the screen will adjust the fork, rear shock absorber or steering damper. Traction control and ABS can also be adjusted using the app, as well as the Custom map on the MVICS 2.0 platform. The feature-rich Itinerary and Travel section is dedicated to navigation and also lets you share routes, which can be enriched with multimedia content such as photos and videos.

ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS Like the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro, the 1000 RR engine represents the most recent evolution of the in-line, four-cylinder MV Agusta design. This new version stands out for its significant redesign, across all sections; the use of the finest materials; and complete review of electronic-management parameters, enormously perfected compared to previous versions.

‹‹ 06

All of this makes this the highest performance hyper naked bike in the world. In fact, the power and torque values set new records: 208 HP at 13,450 rpm and 116.5 Nm. The radial valve timing and central timing chain, technical choices that have

www.ginzinger.at

characterised all of the most recent MV Agusta four-cylinder engines, underwent significant redesigning, inspired by Formula 1 and MotoGP technology. Specifically, the combustion chamber uses F1 technology, whilst the titanium piston rods, indispensable in MotoGP bikes, contribute to reducing mass, loads and inertia of the engine. The central timing chain technical solution is also a MotoGP-inspired component, capable of mitigating the torsion effects of camshafts at high rpm.

There are new valve guides and camshafts, the latter with unprecedented new timings on both the intake and the exhaust side. The pistons use low-friction Asso circlips, and there is a new crankshaft that is balanced to limit absorption at low revs. Based on MV Agusta's direct experience in factory-derivative competition, it has created the new splitter lubrication system, which allows oil to be separated from moving mechanical parts. The semi-dry sump lubrication is capable of guaranteeing mechanical protection under extreme riding conditions such as sharp leans and wheelies, yet without compromises in terms of friction levels, that remain significantly low. A large portion of the design and development work in fact focused on friction levels, also in terms of the transmission, revamped with gears that reduce both friction and overall noise. This goal is supported by tone wheel and clutch covers that partially absorb noise.

‹‹ 07

Redesign of the airbox has been followed by definition of a new intake system: the ducts have different lengths to maximise engine yield, power and torque.

www.ginzinger.at

The current structure features double injectors: four upper Mikuni and four lower Magneti Marelli shower injectors, with greater capacity and mounted above the intake duct. The Arrow exhaust system uses the 4-1-4 set-up, with throttle valve. Electronic engine management has evolved, thanks to collaboration with Eldor, which has created the new EM2.0 control unit specifically for this in-line four-cylinder design. The bike also features a full ride-by-wire multimap system (Sport, Race, Rain, Custom) and IMU inertial platform, which manages traction control (with eight different settings and the option to deactivate it) and modulates intervention based on lean-angle data provided by the IMU. The Front Lift Control, an evolution of the anti-wheelie system, has “active” and “non-active” options. Launch control is available for starts, intervening on both engine rpm and torque based on the speed during the start. A handy contribution to comfort and easy use is the EAS 2.1 Up&Down electronic gearbox, active both in up and downshifting.

CHASSIS, SUSPENSION AND BRAKE In true MV Agusta tradition, the frame on the new Brutale offers a highly evolved “mixed structure” with steel lattice and aluminium side plates, aligning it with engine performance and the requirements of and increasingly sporty driving style that is simultaneously immediate and easy.

‹‹ 08

The riding position is the product of careful ergonomic analysis, aimed to guarantee optimal vehicle control, good wind protection and surprising overall comfort: the semi-handlebars emphasise the bike's undeniable sporty calling. Careful attention to aerodynamics, fundamental for a bike that can reach a maximum

www.ginzinger.at

speed of over 300 km/h, is clear from the spoilers positioned alongside the radiator, to improve downforce and adding load to the front end, limiting lift at high speed. The effect can be clearly felt over 200 km/h and guarantees the steering precision typical of MV Agusta bikes

The chassis dimensions are identical to those of the Serie Oro: compact wheelbase of 1,415 mm, with front wheel trail of 97 mm. The Öhlins Nix EC fork, with TIN surface treatment features electronic adjustment of the hydraulic brake in application and release. Adjustment of the spring preload is manual. The same electronic management is offered by the shock absorber fixed to the aluminium single-sided swing arm and the Öhlins EC electronic steering damper, that adjusts constantly based on

the bike’s speed and is fixed by plates specially designed for the new Brutale. Even the braking system is the same as the Serie Oro, with the prestigious Brembo Stylema front callipers, radial callipers and 320-mm-diameter floating discs. The rear disc is 220 mm and is combined with a dual-piston calliper. Electronic management is assigned to the ABS Bosch 9 Plus system with Race Mode, particularly light and effective.
