Merry Christmas

! Letter To Family And Friends Of Girlfriends Talk From Founder And Editor –IN Chief

Merry Christmas! Yes this year is finally coming to a end…not that I have any New Year resolutions or anything… I'm just ready for a fresh start. I’m grateful to see another year and very appreciative for the things I was able to accomplish. It was a very rough year…but now that’s all behind me. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for believing in me, for the pep talks and encouragement. We lost a great humanitarian, Nelson Mandela. I have to admit that sometimes you don't pay attention to something until it is too late. As I read the articles and the bio of Mr. Mandela, I was in awe of the history of this man. It is almost shameful that now a day 100 men together don't have this much morality. Not to sound negative but we are living in such a selfish world. Please enjoy this year ending issue, as always it is loaded with great content and great people.

Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, in Mveso, Transkei, South Africa. Becoming actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement in his 20s, Mandela joined the African National Congress in 1942. For 20 years, he directed a campaign of peaceful, nonviolent defiance against the South African government and its racist policies. In 1993 Mandela and South African President F.W. de Klerk were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to dismantle the country's apartheid system. In 1994, Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa's first black president. In 2009, Mandela's birthday (July 18) was declared "Mandela Day" to promote global peace and celebrate the South African leader's legacy. Mandela died at his home in Johannesburg on December 5, 2013, at age 95. Early Life Nelson Mandela was born Rolihlahla Mandela on July 18, 1918, in the tiny village of Mvezo, on the banks of the Mbashe River in Transkei, South Africa. "Rolihlahla" in the Xhosa language literally means "pulling the branch of a tree," but more commonly translates as "troublemaker." Nelson Mandela's father, who was destined to be a chief, served as a counselor to tribal chiefs for several years, but lost both his title and fortune over a dispute with the local colonial magistrate. Mandela was only an infant at the time, and his father's loss of status forced his mother to move the family to Qunu, an even smaller village north of Mvezo. The village was nestled in a narrow grassy valley; there were no roads, only foot paths that linked the pastures where livestock grazed. The family lived in huts and ate a local harvest of maize, sorghum, pumpkin and beans, which was all they could afford. Water came from springs and streams and cooking was done outdoors. Mandela played the games of young boys, acting out male rights-of-passage scenarios with toys he made from the natural materials available, including tree branches and clay. At the suggestion of one of his father's friends, Mandela was baptized in the Methodist Church. He went on to become the first in his family to attend school. As was custom at the time, and probably due to the bias of the British educational system in South Africa, Mandela's teacher told him that his new first name would be Nelson. When Mandela was 9 years old, his father died of lung disease, causing his life to change dramatically. He was adopted by Chief Jongintaba Dalindyebo, the acting regent of the Thembu people—a gesture done as a favor to Mandela's father, who, years earlier, had recommended Jongintaba be made chief. Mandela subsequently left the carefree life he knew in Qunu, fearing that he would never see his village again. He traveled by motorcar to Mqhekezweni, the provincial capital of Thembuland, to the chief's royal residence. Though he had not forgotten his beloved village of Qunu, he quickly adapted to the new, more sophisticated surroundings of Mqhekezweni.

Mandela was given the same status and responsibilities as the regent's two other children, his son and oldest child, Justice, and daughter Nomafu. Mandela took classes in a one-room school next to the palace, studying English, Xhosa, history and geography. It was during this period that Mandela developed an interest in African history, from elder chiefs who came to the Great Palace on official business. He learned how the African people had lived in relative peace until the coming of the white people. According to the elders, the children of South Africa had previously lived as brothers, but white men had shattered this fellowship. While black men shared their land, air and water with whites, white men took all of these things for themselves. When Mandela was 16, it was time for him to partake in the traditional African circumcision ritual to mark his entrance into manhood. The ceremony of circumcision was not just a surgical procedure, but an elaborate ritual in preparation for manhood. In African tradition, an uncircumcised man cannot inherit his father's wealth, marry or officiate at tribal rituals. Mandela participated in the ceremony with 25 other boys. He welcomed the opportunity to partake in his people's customs and felt ready to make the transition from boyhood to manhood. His mood shifted during the proceedings, however, when Chief Meligqili, the main speaker at the ceremony, spoke sadly of the young men, explaining that they were enslaved in their own country. Because their land was controlled by white men, they would never have the power to govern themselves, the chief said. He went on to lament that the promise of the young men would be squandered as they struggled to make a living and perform mindless chores for white men. Mandela would later say that while the chief's words didn't make total sense to him at the time, they would eventually formulate his resolve for an independent South Africa.!

! From the time Mandela came under the guardianship of Regent Jongintaba, he was groomed to assume high office, not as a chief, but a counselor to one. As Thembu royalty, Mandela attended a Wesleyan mission school, the Clarkebury Boarding Institute and Wesleyan College, where, he would later state, he achieved academic success through "plain hard work." He also excelled at track and boxing. Mandela was initially mocked as a "country boy" by his Wesleyan classmates, but eventually became friends with several students, including Mathona, his first female friend. In 1939, Mandela enrolled at the University College of Fort Hare, the only residential center of higher learning for blacks in South Africa at the time. Fort Hare was considered Africa's equivalent of the University of Oxford or Harvard University, drawing scholars from all parts of sub-Sahara Africa. In his first year at the university, Mandela took the required courses, but focused on Roman Dutch law to prepare for a career in civil service as an interpreter or clerk—regarded as the best profession that a black man could obtain at the time. In his second year at Fort Hare, Mandela was elected to the Student Representative Council. For some time, students had been dissatisfied with the food and lack of power held by the SRC. During this election, a majority of students voted to boycott unless their demands were met. Aligning with the student majority, Mandela resigned from his position. Seeing this as an act of insubordination, the university's Dr. Kerr expelled Mandela for the rest of the year and gave him an ultimatum: He could return to the school if he agreed to serve on the SRC. When Mandela returned home, the regent was furious, telling him unequivocally that he would have to recant his decision and go back to school in the fall. Mandela's Imprisonment A few weeks after Mandela returned home, Regent Jongintaba announced that he had arranged a marriage for his adopted son. The regent wanted to make sure that Mandela's life was properly planned, and the arrangement was within his right, as tribal custom dictated. Shocked by the news, feeling trapped and believing that he had no other option than to follow this recent order, Mandela ran away from home. He settled in Johannesburg, where he worked a variety of jobs, including as a guard and a clerk, while completing his bachelor's degree via correspondence courses. He then enrolled at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg to study law. Mandela soon became actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement, joining the African National Congress in 1942. Within the ANC, a small group of young Africans banded together, calling themselves the African National Congress Youth League. Their goal was to transform the ANC into a mass grassroots movement, deriving strength from millions of rural peasants and working people who had no voice under the current regime. Specifically, the group believed that the ANC's old tactics of polite petitioning were ineffective. In 1949, the ANC officially adopted the Youth League's methods of boycott, strike, civil disobedience and non-cooperation, with policy goals of full citizenship, redistribution of land, trade union rights, and free and compulsory education for all children.

For 20 years, Mandela directed peaceful, nonviolent acts of defiance against the South African government and its racist policies, including the 1952 Defiance Campaign and the 1955 Congress of the People. He founded the law firm Mandela and Tambo, partnering with Oliver Tambo, a brilliant student he'd met while attending Fort Hare. The law firm provided free and low-cost legal counsel to unrepresented blacks. In 1956, Mandela and 150 others were arrested and charged with treason for their political advocacy (they were eventually acquitted). Meanwhile, the ANC was being challenged by Africanists, a new breed of black activists who believed that the pacifist method of the ANC was ineffective. Africanists soon broke away to form the Pan-Africanist Congress, which negatively affected the ANC; by 1959, the movement had lost much of its militant support. In 1961, Mandela, who was formerly committed to nonviolent protest, began to believe that armed struggle was the only way to achieve change. He subsequently co-founded Umkhonto we Sizwe, also known as MK, an armed offshoot of the ANC dedicated to sabotage and guerilla war tactics to end apartheid. In 1961, Mandela orchestrated a threeday national workers' strike. He was arrested for leading the strike the following year, and was sentenced to five years in prison. In 1963, Mandela was brought to trial again. This time, he and 10 other ANC leaders were sentenced to life imprisonment for political offenses, including sabotage. Nelson Mandela was incarcerated on Robben Island for 18 of his 27 years in prison. During this time, he contracted tuberculosis and, as a black political prisoner, received the lowest level of treatment from prison workers. However, while incarcerated, Mandela was able to earn a Bachelor of Law degree through a University of London correspondence program. A 1981 memoir by South African intelligence agent Gordon Winter described a plot by the South African government to arrange for Mandela's escape so as to shoot him during the recapture; the plot was foiled by British intelligence. Mandela continued to be such a potent symbol of black resistance that a coordinated international campaign for his release was launched, and this international groundswell of support exemplified the power and esteem that Mandela had in the global political community.

! In 1982, Mandela and other ANC leaders were moved to Pollsmoor Prison, allegedly to enable contact between them and the South African government. In 1985, President P.W. Botha offered Mandela's release in exchange for renouncing armed struggle; the prisoner flatly rejected the offer. With increasing local and international pressure for his release, the government participated in several talks with Mandela over the ensuing years, but no deal was made. It wasn't until Botha suffered a stroke and was replaced by Frederik Willem de Klerk that Mandela's release was finally announced—on February 11, 1990. De Klerk also unbanned the ANC, removed restrictions on political groups and suspended executions. Prison Release and Presidency Upon his release from prison, Nelson Mandela immediately urged foreign powers not to reduce their pressure on the South African government for constitutional reform. While he stated that he was committed to working toward peace, he declared that the ANC's armed struggle would continue until the black majority received the right to vote. In 1991, Mandela was elected president of the African National Congress, with lifelong friend and colleague Oliver Tambo serving as national chairperson. Mandela continued to negotiate with President F.W. de Klerk toward the country's first multiracial elections. White South Africans were willing to share power, but many black South Africans wanted a complete transfer of power. The negotiations were often strained and news of violent eruptions, including the assassination of ANC leader Chris Hani, continued throughout the country.

Mandela had to keep a delicate balance of political pressure and intense negotiations amid the demonstrations and armed resistance. In 1993, Mandela and President de Klerk were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work toward dismantling apartheid. And due in no small part to their work, negotiations between black and white South Africans prevailed: On April 27, 1994, South Africa held its first democratic elections. Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the country's first black president on May 10, 1994, at the age of 77, with de Klerk as his first deputy. Also in 1994, Mandela published an autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom, much of which he had secretly written while in prison. The following year, he was awarded the Order of Merit.

From 1994 until June 1999, Mandela worked to bring about the transition from minority rule and apartheid to black majority rule. He used the nation's enthusiasm for sports as a pivot point to promote reconciliation between whites and blacks, encouraging black South Africans to support the once-hated national rugby team. In 1995, South Africa came to the world stage by hosting the Rugby World Cup, which brought further recognition and prestige to the young republic. Mandela also worked to protect South Africa's economy from collapse during his presidency. Through his Reconstruction and Development Plan, the South African government funded the creation of jobs, housing and basic health care. In 1996, Mandela signed into law a new constitution for the nation, establishing a strong central government based on majority rule, and guaranteeing both the rights of minorities and the freedom of expression. Retirement and Later Career By the 1999 general election, Nelson Mandela had retired from active politics. He continued to maintain a busy schedule, however, raising money to build schools and clinics in South Africa's rural heartland through his foundation, and serving as a mediator in Burundi's civil war. He also published a number of books on his life and struggles, among them No Easy Walk to Freedom; Nelson Mandela: The Struggle is my Life; and Nelson Mandela's Favorite African Folktales. Mandela was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer in 2001. In June 2004, at the age of 85, he announced his formal retirement from public life and returned to his native village of Qunu. On July 18, 2007, Mandela convened a group of world leaders, including Graca Machel (whom Mandela would wed in 1998), Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Gro Harlem Brundtland, Jimmy Carter, Li Zhaoxing, Mary Robinson and Muhammad Yunus, to address some of the world's toughest issues. Aiming to work both publicly and privately to find solutions to problems around the globe, the group was aptly named "The Elders." The Elders' impact has spanned Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and their actions have included promoting peace and women's equality, demanding an end to atrocities, and supporting initiatives to address humanitarian crises and promote democracy. In addition to advocating for peace and equality on both a national and global scale, in his later years, Mandela remained committed to the fight against AIDS—a disease that killed Mandela's son, Makgatho, in 2005.

! In Recent Years Nelson Mandela made his last public appearance at the final match of the World Cup in South Africa in 2010. He remained largely out of the spotlight in his later years, choosing to spend much of his time in his childhood community of Qunu, south of Johannesburg. He did, however, visit with U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, wife of President Barack Obama, during her trip to South Africa in 2011. After suffering a lung infection in January 2011, Mandela was briefly hospitalized in Johannesburg to undergo surgery for a stomach ailment in early 2012. He was released after a few days, later returning to Qunu. Mandela would be hospitalized many times over the next several years—in December 2012, March 2013 and June 2013—for further testing and medical treatment relating to his recurrent lung infection. Following his June 2013 hospital visit, Mandela's wife, Graca Machel, canceled a scheduled appearance in London to remain at her husband's his side, and his daughter, Zenani Dlamini, Argentina's South African ambassador, flew back to South Africa to be with her father. Jacob Zuma, South Africa's president, issued a statement in response to public concern over Mandela's March 2013 health scare, asking for support in the form of prayer: "We appeal to the people of South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba and his family and to keep them in their thoughts," Zuma said. Death and Legacy On December 5, 2013, at the age of 95, Nelson Mandela died at his home in Johannesburg, South Africa. Zuma released a statement later that day, in which he spoke to Mandela's legacy: "Wherever we are in the country, wherever we are in the world, let us reaffirm his vision of a society ... in which none is exploited, oppressed or dispossessed by another," he said. For decades to come, Nelson Mandela will continue to be a source of inspiration for civil rights activists worldwide. In 2009, Mandela's birthday (July 18) was declared Mandela Day, an international day to promote global peace and celebrate the South African leader's legacy. According to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, the annual event is meant to encourage citizens worldwide to give back the way that Mandela has throughout his lifetime. A statement on the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory's website reads: "Mr. Mandela gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of humanity. All we are asking is that everyone gives 67 minutes of their time, whether it's supporting your chosen charity or serving your local

community."

Personal Life Mandela was married three times, beginning with Evelyn Ntoko Mase (m. 1944-1957). The couple had four children together: Madiba Thembekile, Makgatho (d. 2005), Makaziwe and Maki. Mandela wed Winnie Madikizela in 1958; the couple had two daughters together, Zenani and Zindziswa, before splitting in 1996. Two years later, Mandela married Graca Machel, with whom he remained until his death in 2013.

“THEY ROCKED IT”

Rather it is to the side, the back or up top the hair bun also known as an updo has been in full effect since last year. What uses to be classified as a formal hairstyle, women of all ages are pulling this elegant hairstyle off. This has to be the easiest style next to wearing your hair down. Too much hair on your face hides features like your jaw line and cheekbones. Slick that hair up or you can mess it up and still look cute and be fierce! It is also a healthy hairstyle; the high bun is an easy way to retain your length!

!!!!!!"#$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 Select a sock. It's best to use the odd sock that isn't useful anymore; avoid using a sock that's still in regular use. The sock should be ankle or mid-shin length; anything longer risks bunching up. Shorter socks tend to cradle your bun and hold it in place. Select a sock that won’t “shed” or create too many loose threads. You'll be cutting this sock, so if it tends to unravel with loose threads, find another or be prepared to darn the edges. Socks close in color to your hair color work best; as it will blend in more should it peak through your strands. 2 Cut off the end. Remove the toe-end of the sock using sharp, fabric scissors. Your goal is to create a tube out of the sock, so only cut off as much as is needed to do this. Follow the seam if possible when cutting. That way you will have a cleaner, straighter cut. 3. Put your hair in a ponytail. Roll up the sock so that it is donut or ring shaped, and slip it over the ponytail. Pull it to the base of the ponytail so that all of the hair is gathered inside of it.

4. Pull the sock to the ends of your hair. Once all the hair is gathered inside the sock, pull it as close to the ends as you can. Tuck the hair around the side and into the center of the bun. 5. Roll the sock down. Hold the ends of your hair at the center of the sock and roll the fabric down towards the base of the ponytail. The hair will gather in a ring around the sock. Rotate the sock as you roll it down so that it is completely covered by your hair. 6 Finish the bun. When the sock has reached the base of the ponytail, tug on the edges and adjust them so that none of the sock can be seen through your hair. Use bobby pins to secure the bun to your scalp if it feels loose or moves around at all. Add a light misting of hairspray, and you're finished.

Did you know? Alfred L. Cralle invented the ice cream scooper. His invention was patented on February 2, 1897.!

Alfred Cralle (African-American- September 4, 1866– 1920) was from [Virginia] who became an inventor and businessman in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The first African American to receive a patent for his invention, an ice cream mold that was a valuable household article in 1897. A practical design still widely in use over 100 years later. A native of Virginia, he was born in Lunenberg County on September 4, 1866, just after the end of the American Civil War (1861–1865). and educated in the common schools of the county. Cralle later took advanced courses at Wayland Seminary in Washington, D.C. He worked with his father in the carpenter trade as a young man and became interested in mechanics, before attending the Seminary. Later, he settled in Pittsburgh where he served as a porter in Markell Brothers' drug store and the St. Charles Hotel. He was named assistant manager when the AfroAmerican Financial, Accumulating, Merchandise and Business Association was organized. It was while working in Pittsburgh as a porter that Cralle noticed that ice cream, which had become a popular confection, was difficult to dispense. It tended to stick to spoons and ladles, usually requiring use of two hands and at least two implements to serve. To overcome this, he invented a mechanical device now known as the ice cream scoop and applied for a patent. On February 2, 1897, he was granted U.S. Patent #576395. Cralle’s ingenious invention, originally called an “Ice Cream Mold and Disher” was designed to be able to keep ice cream and other foods from sticking, and easy to operate with one hand. Strong and durable, effective, inexpensive, it could be constructed in almost any desired shape, such as a cone or a mound, with no delicate parts that could break or malfunction.

"B%1!CD18! 1.To prevent your lips from chapping in the future, drink plenty of water every day. Scientists recommend that you have eight glasses of water a day. People's lips tend to dry out because of the lack of water; in other words, you are dehydrating yourself. 2 Increase the amount of vegetables and fruits in your diet to a suitable amount. Your body may be in an acidic state, which can cause chapped lips. Eating fruits and vegetables will restore your body's pH to a proper alkaline state. Be very careful when it comes to changing your diet - if you take in too many nutrients, it can hurt your body!

3 Following the steps above will help prevent chapped lips. This section provides several methods for you to try to heal your chapped lips. All these methods recommend that you try them before you go to sleep; this way, your lips will have time to heal during the night when they're not in full use! If you find that one method doesn't work, try another.

4 Before starting any of these methods, first remove any loose, dead skin. However, be careful not to pull at it roughly, or you will inflame your lips and make them worse!

Run a soft washcloth under some warm water. If the washcloth is too hot, it will burn your lips and face! The washcloth should be completely wet. Squeeze out the excess water. Gently, but firmly rub the washcloth over your lips. Be careful not to rub them for too long. This method will use a soft bristled toothbrush to exfoliate your lips. If you wish, apply Chap Stick to your lips before rubbing them with the toothbrush. To rub your lips properly Start gently rubbing at the corners of your lips.

• Slowly work your way to the middle of your lips. • Afterwards, apply Vaseline or petroleum-free product. Rinse the toothbrush thoroughly after using it. Repeat this method every 5-7 days. • Apply a coat of lip balm to your lips. Don't forget to cover the corners of your mouth, which can become painfully chapped. A few examples of good lip balms are Nivea, Soft Lips, and Chap Stick. You can also go natural with Burt's Bees, EOS, Dr. Bronner’s Organics, etc. You can also use Vaseline or petroleum-free alternative. Keep applying the lip balm throughout the day to keep your lips from getting chapped again. Don't forget to drink enough water to keep your skin hydrated. Refrain from licking your lips; it dries them out and causes more chapping. If this process does not work in one night (which may occur for some people), then repeat this process or try another method.

DS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) has become a prominent health issue not only in the United States but around the globe. Finding a cure would be ideal, however the best way to combat AIDS is to arm people with knowledge about the disease. To spread awareness about AIDS, the month of December has been dedicated to educating people on the disease, how to prevent it, and how to live with it. AIDS is caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) which is a virus that attacks the immune system by destroying cells that help you to fight off diseases. HIV is transmitted from human to human through bodily fluids. These fluids include, but are not limited to, blood, semen, breast milk, and vaginal fluids. HIV can be spread by sexual contact, needle sharing, or any other transfusion with infected blood. Although there is no cure for AIDS, it can be treated and prevented. Some ways to prevent the contraction of HIV includes practicing safe sex, using new/clean needles, and knowing your HIV status along with the status of your partner(s). Getting tested for HIV is simple and often time includes getting a blood sample drawn via a needle or a mouth swab. The arrival of test results range anywhere from 20 minutes to a few days. The theme this year for World’s AIDS Day is “Shared Responsibility: Strengthening Results for an AIDS-Free Generation.” The Getting To Zero Campaign continues until 2015 with a goal of Zero New HIV Infections, Zero Discrimination, and Zero AIDS Related Deaths. World Aids Campaign is encouraging AIDS/HIV organizations to select one of the three zeroes as their focus for the next two years. Knowledge is power, so this month gain awareness about AIDS/HIV and decrease your chances of contracting a disease that is preventable. For more information about AIDS awareness visit

Black Panties

Legs shaken feat. Luda - This song has a Michael Jackson feel to it, it could be the melody but i definitely like this song. Cookie - Is pulling away from the true essence of a sexy R. Kelly. It's like he stepped down to conform to the younger generation. Too much experience to credit it to being a cookie monster at 47 years old. Throw money on you- I can see this being a strip club banger. I like it. Marry the pus * y_--- The title says it all! You deserve better- mediocre R.Kelly song. Genius- My favorite song on the album!I feel R. Kelly a 100 % on this song. All the way Kelly Rowland- I like this song. My story (feat. 2 Chains)- i love the hook, I feel what R.Kelly is saying but the same time this song is kind of kiddish! 2 Chainz is a rapper that for the life of me I can't figure out all the hype. Right BackSpend That Young Jeezy-!(drops my mouth)

R. Kelly is a classic timeless artist, who may have just down played himself with " Black Panties”. I know a lot of people are going to trip because I am one of the biggest R.Kelly fans, but I wouldn't be a true fan if I didn't keep it all the way real. It's clear that R. Kelly felt he had a point to prove to the new school artists. Maybe it was to show his Relevancy in today’s music game!or to show the Chris Browns and the Trey Songs!that he still reigns number one. I can kind of understand what Jamie Fox is saying now about getting too old to continue to make music. I'm not saying this per se! but you should never loose the true essence of your self to conform to what's now. The same people who love you in the beginning, will be the same people who will always appreciate you in the end. Take Charlie Wilson, Ron Isley for instance. Both whom R.Kelly has contributed music to in one-way or another. R.Kelly has nothing to prove to anyone. Hit albums after hit albums Chocolate Factory being one of the most sensual albums to me R.Kelly takes a brief detour that delivered us "Love Letter" & "Write Me Back”. Not two of my favorite R. Kelly albums but!. I love R.Kelly so I tried to see where he was going with it. Black Panties, which is loaded with features!will be a disappointment to true R.Kelly fans that have waited patiently for his return.

Crazy Sex- At this point i want to turn it off!but I’m determined to finish this review! Shut Up- this is a rerelease! that I think at the time, was very much needed. There are clean and explicit versions of Cookie and My Story Bonus songs with a deluxe CD: Deluxe: Tear it up feat. Future ---- flat line! Show your pus feat Mingo & Juicy J--- flat line! Physical- its ok, it should have been on the regular album Every position- "I want to do you first semester!!!!" R. Kelly you are almost 50 years old!!!!

GT’s Local Talent Spotlight Angie Sassybowflow!

This young lady is simply amazing. I don't know anyone in this city that is doing what she is doing, so that automatically makes her in a lane of her own. Angie "SassyBowFlow" is a native of Columbus, Ohio and a classically trained violinist since the age of 10. Her skills show nothing less as she takes the city by storm, putting it down and letting everyone know “you can be different and still be cool”. I have witnessed her in a few shows and she definitely demands and receives everyone full attention as she rocks out to todays hottest music. Angie was in the fifth grade when she had the opportunity to see the Reynoldsburg City Schools Orchestra Teacher play the theme song to Jaws, she did this very cool crushing sound with the bow; and, when she was done I remember saying to myself, “that’s cool, I want to play that!” With her parents being supportive of her decision they could not afford the full start-up cost. With the help of her late great grandmother she was able to enroll in the rental program at Loft Violin Shop, and ultimately purchase the violin that she continued to use up until college. She humbly admits as a 5th grader she was rusty, but by the 7th grade she began to excel. Her solo performances gained superior ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Adjudicated Events, she went on to represent Reynoldsburg City Schools as one of the top High School instrumentalists in the South Central Region Orchestra. Angie " SassyBowFlow" credits a performance by an African American female violinist Karen Briggs as being an inspiration to her. Attentively listening to the top 40 on the radio she began to pick up songs by ear, a gift gained from studying the Suzuki Method. Kenny G was the first instrumentalist that I studied. I remember constantly listening to his music, imitating his riffs and his melodic creations. I then began listening to Hip Hop and studying the rhythmical lyric patterns of Twista, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Eminem, Drake, Kendrick Lamar; and, inserted my melodies into their rhythmical lyric patterns. The first Hip Hop song I ever covered was “Lights, Camera, Action” by Mr. Cheeks of The Lost Boys. Recently featured in a spotlight and freestyle session with BHB, she will also be partaking in the annual Ace Entertainment "Got Talent Bring It" showcase which will be going down March 7, 2014 at Skullys and The Black and White Affair, Saturday, March 22 at 9:00pm at the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Conference Center.

I am in love with this time of year, it's very romantic to me, if that makes any sense at all. This time of year can also be very stressful with holiday shopping and planning all while still handling the responsibilities of our day to day lives. Even though it's hectic right now...DON'T FORGET THE ROMANCE! Take advantage of the season and find ways to enhance the romance between you and your love thang during this time. Instead of letting the season stress you two the heck out, combat it with these EASY Holiday Romance Tips and let the season bring you closer together. • Holiday movies. I enjoy nothing more than curling up with the husband and children and watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", the cartoon and the one with Jim Carey. They make you feel young at heart and remember when you were little and watched these movies. Now you're enjoying them with your own babies and loved one. This is so romantic even though it is technically "Family Quality Time". You'll feel great doing this together and once the movie is over, put the little ones to bed and... • Glass of wine or hot cup of cocoa by the fire (or by a fake fireplace like I have!) This is relaxing and so simple and can be extremely bonding and romantic...if you let it. While you sip on your treats, discuss the triumphs and experiences you've had this year; talk about your goals for the upcoming year; tell each other why you love each other and why the year has been so amazing with them; discuss upcoming vacation ideas...you get the idea, just keep it positive. Fellas, nothing makes a woman feel all romantic-like than communication, oh we loooove some communication! When she feels close to you, she is more open to sex (and wild sex at that).

These are so easy but so effective and I hope you put forth the effort to enhance the romance this holiday season and bond with your significant other. Bring in the New Year in love and solid. 4 Simple Ways to Eat Clean By now you are probably aware that the term, eat clean, has nothing to do with washing your food and has everything to do with eating in a way that promotes fat loss. While it may sound simple enough, it's pretty challenging to stick with a clean eating plan. I suppose if it were easy then everyone would be lean and confident about their body. So what's the secret to long-term, clean eating success? Here it is...

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #1: Keep It Balanced So many fat loss strategies out there encourage eating only from one category of food: soup, grapefruit, salad, chicken breast...While these foods may promote fat loss and reduce overall calorie intake, this way of eating sets you up for a fall. No one sticks with highly restrictive, one-food-only diets for very long, and you're no exception. To make your clean eating plan last, keep your diet balanced with a range of healthy, real foods.

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #2: Don't Put a Label On It How many times have you uttered the words I'm on a diet? Ugh, just saying that puts one in the mood to cheat on said diet. If eating clean means you're on a diet, then you're not committed enough to make this a way of life. True fat loss success comes when clean eating is second nature, and not a temporarily imposed sentence.

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #3: Have Patience Wouldn't it be great if a week of clean eating could erase a decade worth of indulgences? But, alas, you didn't gain that fat in a week, and you won't lose it in a week either. Look for, and acknowledge, each and every small victory along the way to your long-term goal. Notice each pound, each inch and each pant size. These accomplishments build on one another until you reach your ultimate goal. Just remember that big changes take consistent, long-term effort. Be patient.

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #4: Have a Plan This is the most important step in your clean eating quest, without it you'll flounder around without direction and will likely find yourself starting into the bottom of a bowl of ice cream. Spend time writing out your do's and don't's for your clean eating plan—and please feel free to reach out to me to help you with this step. See below for a list of foods that your diet should mainly consist of and then make another list of completely off-limits foods.

Clean Food: The Basics What food should you consider clean? I'll give you a hint: not foods that come packaged and processed. The healthiest, cleanest foods are ones that are wholesome and untouched...as nature intended. Whole fruits, vegetables, greens, nuts, seeds, eggs, seafood and lean meats. Stick with this list of natural foods and you'll be eating very clean. Steer clear of any food that has been manufactured, processed and packaged. These are most definitely not clean and will lead to pounds gained.

The season of deck-your-waist-with-extra-pounds is officially here. !So what are you going to do about it? !Will you join the masses who faithfully gain 5 pounds between November and January? !Or will you do something different this year? !It is entirely possible to avoid the dreaded holiday chub by following this simple strategy: !All About Power! To begin, it's important that you approach your goal from a place of I can rather than I can't.!!Most diet and weight loss plans begin by outlining everything that you can't eat. You can't enjoy the buffet at your office holiday party. You can't taste the fudge that your aunt Frances made. You can't partake in the seasonal coffee drinks. You can't, you can't, you can't. !It shouldn't be surprising when the diet only last a few days before your inner rebel breaks out and defies all the rules by mowing through an entire plate of Christmas cookies in one sitting. !When you begin from a place of can't, you forfeit all of the power. !On the other hand, when you approach your goal from a place of I can, the power swings back into your favor. Use these 3 steps to re-gain your power: • Focus on positive action. !Rather than obsess over what you can't eat this holiday season, I want you to take the positive action of exercising into your own hands. Every time that you complete a workout feel the surge of empowerment that comes with the accomplishment. ! • Schedule positive action.!The next step is to concretely schedule your workout sessions. I advise that you exercise even more during the holiday season than normal, since you will be taking in more calories. If you normally exercise 3 times each week for 30 minutes, then plan to exercise 5 times each week for 45 minutes. !

Reward yourself for positive action.!At the end of each week take the time to reward yourself for successfully completing each scheduled workout. Don't use food as a reward, since you'll be taking in extra calories as it is. A massage, a new outfit, a leisurely hour spent at a coffee shop, or even a well deserved nap are all great ways to reward yourself.

What You Believe! The people who won't gain any weight this holiday season already know it. How? They've decided not to gain weight, and they believe it. !Do you believe that you won't gain weight this year? Or are your past failures keeping you less than confident? !Let's create a strong belief that you won't be powerless to holiday pounds. !In his book, Awaken the Giant Within, Anthony Robbins explains 4 steps needed to create a belief: ! Step One: Identify the basic belief. I won't gain weight this holiday season. ! Step Two: Reinforce your belief by adding new and more powerful references. This means focusing on the reasons that you don't want to gain the weight. Get out a sheet of paper and list all of the cons to you gaining an extra 5 or 10 pounds over the holidays. Spend a lot of time on this step. Reiterate to yourself over and over why you don't want to gain the weight.

Turkey Pumpkin Stew

!Step Three: Find a triggering event, or create one of your own. Disturb yourself. Try on your bathing suit, or better yet go out and try on bathing suits in dressing rooms with that awful lighting. Try on your skinny jeans. Try on last year's cocktail dress. Try on that outfit at the back of your closet that you still can't fit into. !

This comforting autumn soup is filled with creamy pumpkin and savory turkey, while keeping it low-carb and high protein. Doesn't get better than this! If you're making this after your big holiday meal, feel free to use shredded, roasted turkey instead of raw, ground turkey. Simply chop the shredded, roasted turkey and add in the last 10 minutes of the cooking time. Enjoy! Servings: 12

Step Four: Take action. Get started on your exercise program – right now. Taking action is the most important step, and the most rewarding. !

Spinach & Egg White Wrap This wrap is delicious for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's ready in a flash, tastes amazing, and is filled with lean protein, veggies and whole sprouted grains. Try it today, but don't be surprised if you get hooked!!Servings: 2! • 1 teaspoon olive oil • 1 garlic clove, minced • 3/4 cup tomato, finely chopped • 2 cups spinach, roughly chopped • 1 cup egg whites • dash of salt and pepper • 2 sprouted grain tortillas 2 Tablespoons pesto (purchase it premade, or combine 1/2 cup walnuts, 2 cups basil leaves, 2 cloves garlic, 1/4 cup olive oil, and 1 Tablespoon lemon juice in a food processor and blend until it becomes a paste.) • Spread a tablespoon of pesto over each tortilla and set aside. • In medium sized skillet warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté until golden. Add the tomato and cook for another 3 minutes. Add the spinach and cook until it is soft and wilted. Remove the veggies from skillet, set aside in a bowl. • Pour the egg whites into the skillet, season with salt and pepper. Cook until the egg is no longer runny. Arrange half of the egg whites in a line down the center of each tortilla. Top with half of the veggies and then fold the ends up and wrap like a burrito.

Here's what you need... • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil • 1 small yellow onion, chopped • 1 fennel bulb, chopped • 1 small butternut squash, peeled, seeded and chopped • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced • 1 lb ground turkey • 1 (14oz) can diced tomatoes in sauce • 1 (14oz) can pumpkin • 4 cups chicken broth • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper • 1/2 cup parsley, chopped 1. In a large soup pot, place the coconut oil over mediumhigh heat. Add the onion and cook for 3 minutes, until tender. Add the fennel, butternut squash and ginger. Cook for 5 minutes. 2. In a large skillet place the ground turkey over mediumhigh heat. Cook until browned, stirring often. Drain off liquid. Add the turkey, tomatoes, pumpkin, broth, salt and pepper to the soup pot. Cover and cook over low heat for 40 minutes. Stir in the chopped parsley and cook, uncovered for another 10 minutes. Serve warm. Enjoy!
