Resilient, Ready, Strong 2022 Annual Report

A Message from Board President Sidney Dillard and CEO Nancy Wright

Resilient. Ready. Strong. Grounded in optimism, yet often fueled by adversity, these three powerful words speak volumes about the inner fortitude it takes to navigate a world of everyday challenges and difficult decisions.

Life is rarely easy, especially for girls. Expectations of perfection, high achievement, and fierce competition weigh heavy on girls and young women. They tell us they feel unbelievable pressure, stress, and self-doubt. They also tell us that they need Girl Scouts.

As Girl Scouts, girls learn to find their purpose, passion, and perspective by accentuating their already positive qualities and practicing the vital skills of decision-making, risktaking, and leadership that build resiliency over time. They find a place where they can find the strength to overcome those doubts, see a world of opportunity, and navigate life’s unpredictable challenges.

Together with our donors, partners, and champions, we are creating brighter and more equitable futures for girls. We invite you to engage with our work on behalf of all girls, building our capacity to provide more girls with access to the equitable experiences and resources that they need not just to survive, but to thrive.

This year’s annual report celebrates our indefatigable spirit, financial savvy, resourcefulness, and joy as we carry out our mission. Celebrate with us as we recognize the caring individuals, corporations, foundations, and alums who partnered with us to provide a safe space for girls when they needed it most.

We are forever grateful. Thank you.

Carole Brown, Girl Scout Alumni

“When I look back on my time as a Girl Scout, I realize that Girl Scouts changed the trajectory of my life. The Girl Scouts gave a little Black girl her voice back. They let a little Black girl be seen for more than the color of her skin. There is power in this organization. I wouldn’t be standing here if I hadn’t been a Junior and a Cadette. I want to thank you very much for the support.”
