Juliette Dear Juliette Dear Friend of Juliette, How did Juliette get the nickname ‘Daisy’? Curious

Dear Friend of Juliette, I am in high school and used to go to camp, I am interested in being a CIT at camp. Can I do this as a Juliette? Thanks for your guidance! Curious

Dear Curious! When Juliette was a baby, her uncle said she was going to be a daisy. He thought she was pretty special. Her family started calling her Daisy and this soon became her nickname. Sincerely, Friend of Juliette

Dear Curious, Good question! We love our CITs! You can apply to be a CIT at Camp Gallahue! If you are going into 10th thru 12th grades you can ask Barb Nichols for an application. There is more information about CIT in the camp section in the program guide. Sincerely, Friend of Juliette

Dear Friend of Juliette, I am a Juliette and have never gone to camp. Can I go on my own and which camp can I go to? Nervous but wants to go.

Dear Friend of Juliette, I see in the program guide where they ask for volunteers to help at programs. Can I do this if I am old enough? Wants to help,

Dear Nervous, You definitely can go to camp on your own. We highly recommend you go and meet new friends. All our camps are great to go to. Dellwood, Sycamore Valley and Na Wa Kwa have day camp opportunities. Gallahue, Sycamore Valley, and Na Wa Kwa have resident camp sessions. You should look through the summer camp section in the program guide to find the camp and session that you like. Sincerely, Friend of Juliette

Dear Wants to help, You sure can help! Just make sure you are in the correct grade to help, then register to be a helper. You can contact the program manager who is responsible for the program to get more information on helping! Friend of Juliette If you would like to submit a question for Dear Friend of Juliette, please send your question to ccurry@girlscoutsindiana.org.

Opportunities for Girl Scout Juliette’s Did you know that even though you do not participate in a troop setting that you can still do community service? Did you know that you can participate in programs from the Girl Program Activity Guide? Did you know that you can participate in summer camp? All of these opportunities are available to you as a Girl Scout Juliette! Keep reading for some awesome ideas.

Community Service Would you like to be more involved in your community by helping others and just aren’t sure how to get started? Juliette Gordon Low said “Whatever you take up, do it with all your might and stick to it!”

Collect socks for the homeless and tell your friends how they can help.

Before you get started, think about…..

Do you have a neighbor who might need help raking leaves in their yard or weeds pulled from their flower beds? What a great way to show a neighbor you care.

Think about holding a sock party where all of the guests donate a pair of socks.

1. Where can you be most useful? 2. How will your efforts make a difference?

Make placemats for a local nursing home. You can draw a picture and tell your Girl Scout story about how Girl Scouts make the world a better place.

3. Who might need you and what can you do? Ideas: Collect non-perishable food items and donate to a local food pantry. Ask the pantry if you can take it a step further and help organize the pantry shelves or ask them how you can be most useful.

Juliette Story

I have been a Juliette for just a little while, since May 2017. My story is a bit unusual. I wasn't in a Girl Scout troop, but my sisters (who are twins) were in a troop, and I wanted to go to some of their activities. Their leader, Lucy Bartley, let me join their troop when I was six years old. I didn't want to join my own troop because I really enjoyed being with my sisters and their friends. They went to camp Dellwood every summer and loved it. I loved it too. I didn't want to give that up when they all graduated last May, so I decided to continue in Girl Scouts as a Juliette. I haven't

Get social &

done any extra activities or earned any high awards. I will be in high school next year, and will join the marching band. That will take up most of my time, but I definitely want to continue to go to Camp Dellwood. I really enjoyed being an aid. I want to be an elementary school teacher, so I think being an aid at Girl Scout camp will give me some good experience. I'm not sure what else I will do as a Juliette, but I am open to opportunities as they come along.
