There’s no end to what girls can build with the Girl Scout Cookie Program®. They build lifelong skills, friendship and confidence. Over the course of 100 plus years, generations of girls have built the cookie program into a beloved tradition and the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world. Girls learn so much during the cookie program, but they couldn’t do it without you. Your guidance and support is instrumental in the success for your Girl Scout. Thank you for your support. We are confident you will find the experience to be both enjoyable and rewarding. Good luck and have fun!

5 Skills

Dear Girl Scout family,

Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls learn five skills they will use for a lifetime:

goal setting decision making money management people skills business ethics

Girls will implement these skills by: • • • • • •

Being a part of the largest girl-led business in the world. Setting goals for themselves and with a group. Managing money and practicing important math and budgeting skills. Working with others and gaining people skills through interactions with the community. Making decisions about things that count and putting their ideas into action. Applying the Girl Scout Promise and Law to business ethics.

DID YOU KNOW: •

The number one reason customers don’t purchase cookies is because they aren’t asked – so encourage your Girl Scout to ask, ask, ASK!

The number one reason people buy Girl Scout Cookies is to support Girl Scouting.

Customers will buy more if they understand how girls and the troop benefits and what their purchase will support. All proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program stay in our council to support girls locally.

HELP YOUR GIRL SCOUT •

Let the troop leader and/or troop cookie manager know what types of activities you are willing to help with (i.e. work at a cookie booth, pick up cookies, help sort cookies, help with paperwork, etc).

Attend the troop cookie meeting.

Set goals with your Girl Scout and encourage her as she tracks her progress.

Support her selling; take her to your workplace, assist with phone orders, volunteer at the troop’s cookie booth, and help deliver cookies.

N IS A O S A E S IE K O O C E F A S A SUCCESSFUL COOKIE SEASON •

Remind your Girl Scout to wear her Girl Scout uniform, pin or something to identify her as a Girl Scout.

Girl Scouts should not enter another person’s home. All order taking and cookie deliveries should be made at the door.

Girls do not give out their own phone number, last name or address to customers.

Always sell during daylight and with another person.

Girls should not carry large sums of money. All money needs to be turned in by a responsible adult, rather than sending it to school with your Girl Scout.

IMPORTANT DATES January 12: Cookie order taking begins. No orders should be taken before this date. January 25: Your troop cookie manager must submit your Girl Scout’s initial order. She may give you a date prior to this to turn in your order form. Be sure to follow this deadline to ensure arrival of your girl’s Girl Scout Cookies. Remember to add any girl delivered orders placed through Digital Cookie to your Girl Scout’s order card! January 31-March 17: Your troop cookie manager will have you pick up your first order and any additional orders you may need. She will ask you to sign a receipt every time you pick up more cookies and/or turn in money. Be sure to keep these receipts for your records. March 17: Your troop cookie manager must have all of the money for any cookies checked out by the troop in the bank by this day. They may ask you to turn in the money a little earlier in order to ensure the cookies are paid for by the deadline date. Mid-May: Your Girl Scout’s rewards will arrive. Your troop cookie manager will contact you to make arrangements to get them to you.

WHY $5?

INTERNET SELLING & CREDIT CARDS

Every service provided by Girl Scouts of Central Indiana is subsidized for our members! • It costs $379 per girl to give her the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for just one year, however families on average pay $57 for this experience! • The Girl Scout Cookie Program not only provides funds for the troop, but it also supports all of our services to girls, volunteers, communities, and parents. Every penny from the Cookie Program stays within our central Indiana council after we pay our vendor and program costs. The annual Girl Scout membership fee go directly to Girl Scouts of the USA.

Girls can use the Internet to sell to family and friends. However, posting on any site where money is exchanged online such as ebay or Amazon is prohibited. Girl Scouts of Central Indiana is proud to partner with First Financial Bank. Through this partnership, our troops are able to process credit cards at their cookie booths. See your troop cookie manager for more details.
