Dear Friends of Girl Scouting,
Thank you for joining us tonight as we celebrate the 26th anniversary of Take the Lead in Lehigh Valley. Tonight, we shine a light on our honorees and Girl Scouts who make our community and our world a better place. Getting here is no small feat. It takes planning, hard work and dedication. And, of course, a very special skill—leadership.
What qualities do you think make a good leader? It’s a question we often ask Girl Scouts as they think about the kind of leader they are or wish to become. While answers vary—we might all agree that leadership involves making tough decisions, being a role model for others, or having a track record of success, to name a few. The truth is leadership looks different for everyone.
Our 2024 Take the Lead honorees prove that. Each has gone on their own journey to get to where they are today, journeys that have included highs and lows, starts and stops, pivots in new directions, and triumphs and challenges. Taking time to celebrate...taking time to recover...always moving forward...even if it’s in another direction. These moments give a journey authenticity because you learn something new, adjust course, and keep striving for something bigger and better. It is through these journeys where leaders are made.
These are the skills we teach Girl Scouts every day: encouraging them to be fearless, to try new things, and explore what inspires them. Helping girls build their own courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place isn’t just a tagline for Girl Scouts. It’s something we do year after year. In 2023, we served 25,000 Girl Scouts across our nine-county footprint. We helped each member take the next step in her journey toward discovering the leader she wants to be, and the world needs her to be.
Thank you for helping us raise not just the next generation of leaders—but the next generation of authentic leaders who will change the world.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Kim E. Fraites-Dow Chief Executive Officer Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania
Nicole LeVine PECO Chair, Board of Directors Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania

Dear Friends,
Purpose. It’s a small word with a big impact. It is said that if you combine what you love with what you are great at, what you get paid to do, and what the world needs—where they intersect is where you find your purpose.
By providing girls with the opportunity to try new things and understand how those things connect to potential careers through badgework and beyond, Girl Scouts gives girls the tools they need to discover a strong sense of self and find their purpose in life.
It’s something our Take the Lead honorees have demonstrated as well. Carmen, Katarah, Danielle and Stephanie have each found purpose in their lives and their careers, and we are fortunate that our Girl Scouts have had the opportunity to learn from them.
Your support of Take the Lead will help us continue this mission – to give girls the chance to look beyond their Girl Scouting experience and connect the skills they’ve learned with the impact they want to make in the world through their careers and community involvement.
You are helping these young women discover one of the most valuable things in their lives: their purpose.
Thank you for your generosity and for spending your evening with us. It is your support that allows Girl Scouts to build the next generation of women leaders who will make our world a better place.
Sincerely,
Tina

Closing Song Lyrics
“Make New Friends”
Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other’s gold.
A circle is round, it has no end. That’s how long, I want to be your friend.
A fire burns bright, it warms the heart. We’ve been friends, from the very start.
You have one hand, I have the other. Put them together, we have each other.
