Troop 98081 will host the 2nd annual “We’re All In, Let’s Help Out” MLK Day of Service at Camp Shelly Ridge. Participate in service activities, get creative with an MLK Day craft project, and learn about MLK’s legacy and the importance of being “all in” to make the world a better place. Thank you to all the volunteers, troops and families who attended in 2019. Because of you, we were able to donate all can goods to Philabundance and book bags to mothers and children at The Recovery House. Let’s make 2020 even better! Come to Camp Mosey Wood to experience the outdoors, and spend your day thinking like an engineer! Juniors will create a paper structure that withstands the weight of heavy books, get outside to create an emergency shelter in the woods at Mosey Wood, and make a prototype of a structure that can withstand the shaking of an earthquake. Cadettes will create a life vest for a dog and test it for buoyancy in our lake, explore how nature can inspire a cabin model design, and make a prototype for a prosthetic leg for an elephant. Each girl will go home that day with an idea of how she can take-action in her own community. At the end of the day, after the brain power has been exhausted, it is time to fly down the tubing hill at the local ski resort! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. All adults must have a satisfactory background check on file to participate in the program. *Includes Friday snack, all meals Saturday, Sunday breakfast, housing in heated cabins, Think Like an Engineer Journey, and three-hour tubing pass at Big Boulder.

Join in activities like hiking, archery, gaga, and indoor climbing wall. Finish Saturday night singing songs around a campfire before falling asleep in the lodge. You’ll be amazed at what you can do! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Flower Fun SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 10AM-12:30PM Camp Mountain House, Allentown Grades: K-1 Cost: $11/girl Hello Daisies! Come to Camp Mountain House and celebrate the beginning of spring! Dig into the life cycle of a plant and dissect a seed to see how something so tiny blossoms into a flower, vegetable, or tree. Explore the things that flowers and other plants need to grow big and strong! You’ll even plant a flower seed in your own decorated pot and take it home to create a window sill garden. *Great supplemental activity for Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden Journey.

Night Sky SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 2PM - SUNDAY MARCH 22, 11AM Camp Laughing Waters, Gilbertsville Grades: 6-8 Cost: $50/girl $30/adult “Timon, ever wonder what those sparkly dots are up there?” “Pumbaa, I don’t wonder; I know,” and now you will too! Come to Camp Laughing Waters and explore your knowledge and understanding of the great night sky. Learn and identify constellations, understand the inner working of the human eye and

how we see light and color. Finally, stay up to observe the night sky and see how many constellations you can find! Cadettes earn your Space Science Researcher Badge. Fling Flyer Fanatics SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 1:30-3:30PM Camp Valley Forge, Phoenixville Grades: 2-3 Cost: $15/girl Airplanes: how can something so heavy float so effortlessly throughout the air? It’s science! Through building your own Fling Flyer you’ll find out how different forces effect flight. You’ll build, test, and improve your Fling Flyer until it glides through the air, just like the planes you see in the sky. All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. *Includes Fling Flyer Design Challenge badge.

Learn how to safely move through a cave as you explore the depths of one of nature’s finest wonders alongside a speleological expert. A rolling pin, a bottle opener, a jar with a lid, did you know that all these things are simple machines that make our lives easier? Come to Camp Valley Forge and explore other simple and compound machines. Then, put what you’ve learn to the test as you design and build your own machine: a crane! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. *Includes Crane Design Challenge badge.

Ready, Set, Adventure! SUNDAY APRIL 5 1-4PM Camp Laughing Waters, Gilbertsville Grades: 2-3 Cost: $15/girl $5/girl Spring is the perfect time to head outside and enjoy nature coming back to life! Adventure around Camp Laughing Waters while you learn fire building skills, practice the art of camouflage, and take home your very own bird house so you can enjoy the nature at home! Brownies earn your Outdoor Adventure Badge.

Winter is over, and Camp Wood Haven needs some help to prepare for camping season! You will be among the first tent campers of 2020. Set up the tents, clear trails, and clean units and buildings. You might even get to paint! Bring along a pair of work gloves and help make camp shine. At the end of a hard day’s work, celebrate with an all-camp party in the pavilion on Saturday night. You’ll have time to hike, play, and enjoy the natural beauty of Camp Wood Haven. All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. All adults must have a satisfactory background check on file to participate in the program. *Includes accommodations in platform tents, Conestoga wagons, Adirondack shelters, or tree houses (accommodations selected by lottery) and all food Friday evening snack through Sunday breakfast.

Thin Mint Sprint SATURDAY, APRIL 25, CHECK IN: 8AM RACE START: 9AM Fairmount Park 200 W Northwestern Ave, Philadelphia Grades: All Ages Cost: $30/person Race Fairmount Park’s Forbidden drive along the picturesque Wissahickon Creek with your sister Girl Scouts, family, and friends! Practice, train, and beat your best time at this year’s Thin Mint Sprint! This 5K race open to everyone, and awards will be given to the top finishers. Real Rocks – Mocanaqua SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 8AM-5PM Camp Laughing Waters, Gilbertsville Grades: 6-12 Cost: $45/girl Spend the day climbing real rocks! Meet at Camp Laughing Waters, where you will travel by van to the outdoor rocks at Mocanaqua. Spend a couple hours climbing, take a lunch break, and then climb some more. Let your inner risk-taker out as you reach new heights, while GSEP belayers keep you safe. Pack your lunch and water bottle to keep you energized. This is a girl-only event. Drop off and pick up at Camp Laughing Waters.

Biking Adventure SUNDAY, MAY 3, 10AM-3PM Delaware Canal Morrisville Trailhead 350 Delaware Canal Towpath, Morrisville PA Grades: 6-12 Cost: $20/girl $5/adult Get your bike out and take a 16-mile trek with GSEP! Talk about what you need to ride on the trail, basic bike repair, and then cycle out on your adventure. Girls must bring proper fitting helmets and a geared bike in good condition. Individual girls are welcome. Girls should bring a non-perishable lunch and water. A simple snack will be provided. Group will begin at the Delaware Canal Morrisville Trailhead and loop through the Delaware Canal State Park in PA and Delaware and Raritan State Park in NJ before ending just where we began!

This year we will be headed to Camp Mosey Wood for even more adventure. New this year, you’ll be able to choose your challenge, with both two-hour and four-hour courses. Travel new terrain between check points and seek out adventure challenges to gain more points. You may get wet or muddy, but you’re guaranteed to have fun. UNLADYLIKE2020, a Vision 2020 Allied Organization, is an innovative multimedia series featuring 26 documentary shorts about little-known American heroines from the turn of the 20th century, who were trailblazers in thenmale dominated professions including business, science, politics, journalism, exploration, aviation, and the arts. In honor of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, the series will be released digitally on PBS’ flagship biography series American Masters from March 4, 2020, Women’s History Month, to August 26, 2020, Women’s Equality Day, and as a television hour on American Masters July 10, 2020. Troops can use UNLADYLIKE2020’s screening kits to organize viewing parties and discussions. GSEP will also host viewing parties at camp. Commemorate 100 years of women’s right to vote in the birthplace of American democracy by spending a Saturday morning or afternoon learning about women’s history! The Women 100 HERstory Hunt at Independence National Historical Park is a hands-on women’s history scavenger hunt that encourages Girl Scouts to go beyond the traditional telling of history to uncover underrepresented women’s contributions of the past. Three hunts are open to Brownies and Juniors (both hunts on April 4, and the 10AM hunt on April 18), and three hunts are open to Cadettes (1PM hunt on April 18, and both hunts on April 25). Berks Suffrage 2020 Centennial Initiative

In Berks County, PA, a 2020 centennial celebration is being planned with the kickoff in March of 2020 during Women’s History Month at The Berks History Center and a celebration dinner to be held in August of 2020 commemorating the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Wednesday, August 26, 2020 On this date 100 years ago, women in America won the right to vote through the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. August 26th is recognized annually as Women's Equality Day, and to celebrate, Vision 2020 will host its Toast to Tenacity to honor the suffragists who fought for this right and to encourage women to shape the future by exercising their right to vote. Troops can participate in the Toast to Tenacity on August 26, 2020, in three ways: 1) attend the big celebration on Independence Mall that day with Vision 2020, Washington Memorial Chapel and Independence National Historical Park, 2) host their own complementary toast using Vision 2020's event toolkit, or 3) post on social media a photo or video of themselves raising their glasses of grape juice – just as the suffragists did 100 years earlier – and using the hashtag #ToastToTenacity. IMPORTANT POINTS FOR PARENTS, GUARDIANS & VOLUNTEERS • Adult spaces in programs are intended only for the number of adults necessary to meet the girl-adult ratios, unless otherwise indicated. Chaperoning adults are free unless otherwise indicated by a per person or per adult price for the program. All adults must be registered for the program. • All girls attending a program or event must be registered Girl Scouts. Girls new to Girl Scouts can register as a new member online at gsep.org through MyGS. • Council-sponsored programs are designed for specific age/grade levels. Please only register for programs that are in your age/grade level. • Leaders, parents, and guardians must make arrangements to leave other children at home. Additional children and/or family members are not permitted to attend any GSEP program. • All GSEP Sponsored Programs: According to Volunteer Essentials, all volunteers participating in the Girl Scout movement shall meet GSUSA membership standards, which include committing to the Girl Scout Promise, accepting the Girl Scout Law, and registering annually through the Council as members of the Girl Scout movement. Effective January 1, 2014, prior to registering for all programs sponsored by GSEP, adults who are interested in attending must have a current membership. This applies to all of the programs advertised in Spark or via the GSEP website or other communication. Cost of registration is $25 and is in addition to the cost of the program. Adults can register online. • Trips & Overnight Programs: According to Volunteer Essentials, when girls go on trips and overnight programs, the group must have at least two unrelated, registered, cleared, and trained adult volunteers. Adults who attend overnight programs or share GSEP property at the same time girls are in attendance need to be cleared and registered to ensure the utmost safety of the girls. Effective January 1, 2014, in addition to becoming a registered adult member of Girl Scouts, any

REGISTRATION DEADLINES Registrations are accepted until the program is full or one week prior to the program date, whichever comes first. Please allow at least four weeks lead time from the program date for processing of paper registration forms. We cannot guarantee paperwork submitted less than four weeks in advance will be processed in time for you to attend the program. CONFIRMATIONS Confirmation packets are sent via email the first business day after registration closes. If registration closes on a Saturday or Sunday, you should expect the confirmation the following Monday. SPACE & ATTENDANCE Program space is limited. Attendance capacity is based on the needs of the program itself and cannot be adjusted due to late registration, transfer requests, troop needs, etc. Program capacity and space availability can be viewed online. Badges and patches will only be given out to girls who are in attendance. TROOP REGISTRATION Only approved troop leaders/co-leaders can register current troop members using the troop management feature. PAYMENT Payment for all programs is due in full at the time of registration. Space will not be held for any registration forms submitted without the full payment amount that is due. REFUNDS Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to memberservices@gsep.org at least four weeks in advance of the program date for consideration (include subject heading: Program Refund). Refunds are not issued for “no shows” (registrants who do not attend). Refunds are not issued for cancellations occurring less than four weeks in advance or if numbers are reduced less than four weeks prior to the event. CANCELLATIONS GSEP reserves the right to cancel an event due to insufficient registration, acts of nature, or other reasons beyond our control. In the event a program is canceled, a full refund will be issued. Weather-related cancellations: A GSEP staff member will contact you if a program will be cancelled due to weather. When possible, the event will be rescheduled or a refund issued. For cancellations in advance, email notification will be sent to each registrant. For same day cancellations, an attempt will be made to call the phone number available on record. OUT OF COUNCIL REGISTRATIONS Girls in our neighboring councils are welcome to register for our programs. Email memberservices@ gsep.org for paperwork.
