5.16.15 PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER
OUR MISSION Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
THE GIRL SCOUT PROMISE AND LAW The Girl Scout Promise and Law are shared by every member of Girl Scouting. The Girl Scout Promise is the way Girl Scouts agree to act every day toward one another and other people, and the Law outlines a way to act towards one another and the world. THE GIRL SCOUT PROMISE
THE GIRL SCOUT LAW
On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
WELCOME Dear Girl Scouts, parents, volunteers, and participants,
Thank you for joining Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania for #GirlPOP2015! It’s my honor to welcome you all to this day-long meetup that promises to be full of fun, friends, making connections, and finding your inspiration. We’re excited to convene girls and adults of all ages to focus purely on girls and to showcase what today’s Girl Scouts is all about: building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. For over 100 years, Girl Scouts has given girls a safe and inviting place, free from pressure and full of encouragement, where they can be themselves. #GirlPOP2015 is an opportunity for all girls to come together to try new things, find what they love, and gain the confidence and determination they need to become leaders. As the premiere leadership organization for girls, it is our responsibility to expose girls to role models that are tackling the issues that impact girls and women both locally and globally. In 2012, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania hosted the Century of the Girl Expo to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts. So many great connections were made at that event! For example, when Eva Shang, now a Harvard University sophomore, attended the 2012 Expo as a Girl Scout, she realized that her passion for social impact could be realized through networking and hard work. Through connections made at the Expo, Eva now writes regularly for the Huffington Post, and was invited to join the Girl Advisory Board of Girl Up, a program of the United Nations Foundation. Today, you’ll hear from Eva and her younger sister, Melissa, who is a Girl Scout and a disability rights activist. Together, the sisters are working on writing their first book.
THE PROMISE AND CAPABILITIES OF A YOUNG WOMAN ARE ENDLESS.
You’ll also hear from other girls who are making a difference at a young age. Girls like Mo’ne Davis, the Little League phenom who’s teaching the world what it means to “throw like a girl.” And Vivienne Harr, who raised $100,000 for charity by selling lemonade for 173 days in a row. (That’s commitment that any Girl Scout Cookie seller can appreciate!) My hope for all of you today is that you’ll leave with a few new friends and some words of wisdom that will inspire you to follow your dreams. Throughout the day, use this program to take notes, doodle, sketch out a brilliant plan, save the autograph of your favorite speaker, or jot down the contact info of a new friend. And next time that you’re in need of some inspiration, pull it out and remember the impact just one girl can create – and the massive change we can make together. You’re never too young (or too old!) to make a difference. Let’s get out there and show the world what girls can do. Yours in scouting,
Natalye Paquin, Esq. CEO, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania

WELCOME Dear Girl Scout members, supporters, volunteers, family and friends,
Dear Girl Scout members, supporters, volunteers, family and friends, Welcome to #GirlPOP2015! We are honored to have you join us as we explore topics that girls experience in-real-life – with friends, at school, and at home. It has been an honor to serve as GSEP’s Chair of the Board of Directors for the last six years and to be part of the largest girl-serving organization in the United States, which develops leaders for today and for the future. Girl Scouts has shaped the lives of the majority of female senior executives and business owners, two-thirds of women in Congress, and three Secretaries of State. The promise and capabilities of a young woman are endless, and I encourage you to embrace today as an opportunity to learn, grow and try new things.
It is an honor to join you all today as the new Board Chair of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. I can’t think of a better way to dive into this new role than being here with all of you at #GirlPOP2015. I look forward to this new journey with the Girl Scouts, and hope that we can continue to inspire the next generation of female leaders from our region. One leader with whom I have been fortunate to work is Ann Thornton Field. I want to thank Ann for her tremendous contribution to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania over the past six years. Ann, we have all benefited from your leadership and commitment to the Girl Scouts, which has brought us to where we are today. On behalf of the Board, staff, and members of GSEP, thank you. In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts with a vision that remains relevant as we forge deeper into the 21st century. She once said, “The work of today is the history of tomorrow, and we are its makers.” Instilling in girls a sense of responsibility for themselves and their communities is at the heart of Girl Scouting. When a girl succeeds, so does society. Youth development organizations like the Girl Scouts have a responsibility to help young people build skills that will enable them to effect change, and girls need to see a broader range of women stepping into leadership positions. If girls can’t see it, they can’t be it!
The world never stops being a place of wonder, purpose and passion. Enjoy this action-packed day that will inspire you to go out and change the world! My hope is that you will discover something amazing about yourself that will carry you towards your future success. I cannot wait to see what you’ll do next!
That’s what #GirlPOP2015 is all about. We’re here to inspire young leaders to take action, encourage girls to dream big, and show the world how much we can accomplish when we work together.
With sincere thanks and best wishes,
Sincerely,
Ann Thornton Field, Esq. Chair, GSEP Board of Directors (2008–2015)
Mary Stengel Austen Chair, GSEP Board of Directors (2015–2016)

Hello Everyone! As the CEO and National Board President of Girl Scouts of the USA, we would like to formally welcome all of you to GirlPop2015! GirlPop is an amazing opportunity for girls to come together with women and other girls to share ideas, experiences, and insights. Throughout the day, you will get to meet, interact with, and learn from incredible young women who are not so different from you. Through their determination and courage, they have done amazing things in our world. At Girl Scouts, we believe that every girl, no matter where she comes from or what her personal story may be, has the potential to change our world forever, and for better. We help girls learn, grow, have fun, and unlock their own leadership potential in a safe and supportive environment. Our mission is to develop girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place, and for over a century, Girl Scouts has provided girls with unique opportunities to engage with fearless, audacious female leaders. Indeed, bringing girls together with female role models and mentors is a cornerstone of our mission—which is why we are so excited to be a part of GirlPop2015! We want to thank the many speakers and individuals taking part in GirlPop2015, for sharing your experiences and playing a crucial role as trailblazers and role models for future generations of girls. If you are a Girl Scout, you know how much fun GirlPop will be; if you are not already a part of our “Movement for girls,” we hope this event will encourage you to join or volunteer with a local Girl Scout troop and take advantage of everything the Girl Scout experience has to offer girls and adults alike. We hope you have the experience of a lifetime here at GirlPop. Above all, we hope you build lasting friendships and are inspired to use what you learn today to take action in your communities back home. Enjoy GirlPop2015! Sincerely,
Kathy Hopinkah Hannan National President Girl Scouts of the USA

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Mo’ne Davis Little League Pitcher and Sports Illustrated Sports Kid of the Year At the age of 13, Mo’ne Davis became the first female pitcher to win a game in the Little League World Series. Growing up in Philadelphia where baseball teams were quickly losing players to soccer and lacrosse, Mo’ne’s talent was first noticed when she was seven years old as she threw a football in perfect spirals to a group of boys. She learned to play basketball, soccer and baseball on teams where she was usually the only girl. With courage and determination, Mo’ne practiced and perfected her skills. She led her team, the Taney Dragons, to the Little League World Series in 2014. From this experience she launched the non-profit The Bootstrap Project, an organization dedicated to sustainable poverty alleviation through the revival and growth of artisinal craft. The Bootstrap Project has become a platform for enterprising artisans to learn new skills, expand their businesses, share their customs and traditions, and revive the world’s most beautiful crafts. Her experience working with Bootstrap artisans gave her an appreciation for how beautiful things are created. It also gave her the desire to understand how the other things in her life were made. She turned to her closet and began researching the origins and supply chain of the apparel industry. What she discovered was a completely broken system: a major driver of global pollution, based on over-consumption and a race to the bottom. Inspired by the work of John Mackey at Whole Foods, Maxine along with her high school friend, launched Zady to reimagine the world of retail as one that is responsive to the coming generation’s desire to connect, its demand for authenticity and as a driver of sustainability across the industry.
Maxine received her Juris Doctorate degree with honors from Columbia Law School. She lives in New York City with her husband Stéphane.

Lucy’s professional career began at KATN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Fairbanks, Alaska. She shot, wrote and edited her own stories and anchored various newscasts. ENTERTAINERS This world may not be short on beautiful young girls dreaming of becoming country music stars, but Nashville hasn’t come across an artist with the charm, passion and singular vision of Cheryl LuQuire in quite some time. Her combination of heart, sass and soul creates a sound that gives young girls something to shout at the top of their lungs while their moms sing along too.
Cheryl LuQuire Singer/Songwriter
She’s equally as comfortable rocking a honky-tonk as she is at her home church and while she’s definitely all girl she’s no stranger to a hunting rifle or a race track. Since 2012 Cheryl’s been signed to SONYATV Music Publishing, released a 5 song CD, and opened for numerous country acts including The Band Perry, Sara Evans, Wynonna, and Josh Turner, and also sings backup for Lady Antebellum. Cheryl’s excited about releasing some new music in 2015, but when she’s not writing or performing, she loves exercising, volunteering, and playing with her dog, Waffle. @CherylLuQuire

Two years ago, Audra joined Delco Let There Be Rock School and began taking vocal lessons with Melissa Daley (who is now her Manager/ Vocal Coach). Melissa sent Audra’s tapes to The Voice, which resulted in Audra becoming a member of Team Blake on Season 6 of The Voice. Since appearing on The Voice, Audra has been performing in shows and traveling to Nashville to write music and work on her demo. @audralynn21

Matthew Schuler was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to Pastors Donald and Dawn Schuler. Early on he found he had a deep passion for music and its affect on the people around him. Not only did Matthew sing in his parents church growing up, he started a band and joined various exclusive choirs before starring in theatrical productions in high school that prepped him for a future career in music. Matthew spent two years in college at Bucks County Community College and later West Chester University where his faith and leadership skills were sharpened through extracurricular activities and organizations. In his second semester at West Chester, Matthew took the first steps towards pursuing his dream as an artist by auditioning for NBC’s Emmy award-winning competition reality series The Voice. During Matthew’s blind audition he broke the record for the fastest 4-chair turn in The Voice history, which ultimately led to joining team Christina Aguilera. Matthew is currently pursuing a career in music and acting. @MatthewSchuler
