2018 Spring Renewal! It’s official!! We have launched our new online registration process. She’s a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™, and we can help her unleash that greatness again this year. Together, let’s make sure she benefits from another extraordinary year of positive energy, excitement, and experiences that will help her build the skills she needs today and tomorrow. She is the future, and we can help her build it. Be sure to renew by July 1st to guarantee her spot in her current Troop. Here is your step-by-step guide to renew her Girl Scout membership today: (Note: Please check with your Troop Leader to see if they plan to return or if additional leadership is needed. Consider volunteering!) 1. Visit gsnc.org. 2. Click “MY GS” in the navigation bar and select “Member Profile.” 3. You will be prompted to log in to the MY GS Member Community. Enter your email address and password that you set up when you received your “Welcome to the Girl Scout Member Community” email and click the green “Log In” button. If you can’t remember your password, select the “Forgot your Password?” link and you will receive an email to reset your password. Be sure to check your spam/junk folders. If you do not receive this email, contact GSNC Customer Care at customercare@gsnc.org. 4. Select “Family Renewal.” 5. Under the Membership tab, you will see each individual in your family that has a current membership. To the right, you will see a dropdown box titled “Current Year.” To renew, change this to say “Next Year.” 6. Below the dropdown box, you will see a column titled “Renewal Choice.” Select the type of renewal you would like from the dropdown (e.g. “Renew”). Once complete, select “Continue.” 7. You will see a pop-up that states the Girl Scout Law and Girl Scout Promise for all renewing members to view. Check the box and select “Continue.” 8. Fill in your payment information and select “Continue.” Please note, that no refunds will be given once a payment is submitted. Review the information for accuracy and select “Continue.” Before you submit, please make a donation and help your daughter be an awesome G.I.R.L. Congratulations! Your membership renewal is now complete. Get ready for another year of fun!
Help Your Daughter Be An Awesome
As a parent of a Girl Scout you want her to reach her highest potential, which is one of the reasons why you chose Girl Scouts. With Girl Scouts she can become a Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker and Leader. You can help us continue to bring programs and activities that benefit your daughter and her Girl Scout sisters by making a donation when you register online. Your donation supports our Family Partnership Program. When you make a donation of $10 or more your daughter will receive a Family Partnership Participant Patch. And if your donation is $35 or more, she receives another patch for “Going The Extra Mile” and her Troop will receive a 15% rebate credit for use in the GSNC Shop. Help us help your daughter to reach for the stars! For additional information on making a donation to support Family Partnership contact customercare@gsnc.org.

Dear Girl Scout Volunteer; Without you, a GSNC Volunteer, the lives of many girls in our community would be missing a vital connection. Their connection to one another, to their community, to their current friends and friends they have yet to make, and their connection to you. Because you do what you do as a Mom, Dad, Aunt, Grandparent, Friend and Girl Scout Volunteer, girls’ lives are impacted in the most positive way. Every badge or award, every event, every Girl Scout meeting, every recitation of the Promise & Law, every little thing you do…makes a positive impact that is priceless to the girls you lead and support. So….
Because The Girl By Mimi Murray, a GSUSA National Operational Volunteer Because the girl has a need, we have an obligation. Because the girl has a choice, we must be her better choice. Because the girl has high expectations, we must excel. Because the girl wants to explore, we must be her guide. Because the girl wants to belong, we must open our arms. Because the girl is searching for direction, we must be her compass. Because the girl encounters times of turmoil, we must be her safe haven. Because the girl is tomorrow’s woman, we must care today. Because of the girl…we exist. Thank you to each of our incredible volunteers. Every day you deliver services to girls that transform their future.
TROOP Click
8th grade Cadette Troop 3570 in Syosset welcomed a new member to their Troop this year. When Girl Scout Cookie season started and they learned their new sister Girl Scout had never tasted a Girl Scout Cookie, they met one snowy night for crafts and cookie tasting.
Our heartfelt appreciation, The Board and staff of GSNC, Our Girl Scouts and their families
World Thinking Day Celebrations W Cadette Troop 1447 of Mineola recently celebrated World Thinking Day. They hosted Christine Tornabene, a Peace Corps volunteer recently returned from Costa Rica. She talked to the girls about living and learning in Costa Rica and the work of the Peace Corps. Other Troops from the WARM association helped celebrate. X Troop 3242 in Hicksville also celebrated World Thinking Day in traditional dress from other countries at their Association celebration.

ORS
This past summer, Senior Troop 508 traveled to Our Chalet, in Adelboden, Switzerland, one of the WAGGGS World Centres. The girls first learned about Our Chalet during World Thinking Day programming as 4th Grade Juniors. They started saving for the trip as 6th Grade Cadettes, utilizing Mags&Munchies and Girl Scout Cookie Sales, as well as other approved fundraising. After five consecutive years of participating in these entrepreneurial programs, the girls were able to fund 75% of the total cost of the trip for the entire Troop! While staying at Our Chalet, the girls participated in many high adventure programming, such as whitewater rafting, repelling, rock climbing & alpine hiking of up to 10 miles a day. They learned about Swiss culture and befriended Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world, becoming especially close to a group from Northern Ireland, with whom they are still in touch. It was the trip of a lifetime!
Honor Circle Society The Honor Circle Society recognizes individuals who will include Girl Scouts of Nassau County in their estate plans. This process is one way to ensure that resources will be available for Girl Scouts in the future. Each year the Council hosts a formal induction ceremony for new members, so please let us know if you plan to or have already included GSNC in your estate plans. For additional information please contact Luci Duckson-Bramble at 516.741.2550 ext. 208 or lduckson@gsnc.org. We are grateful to all our Honor Circle Society members. Junior Troop 2523 from Island Beach Association participated in a Martin Luther King day celebration at Long Beach City Hall. The girls led the assembly in a song and also recited a poem about Martin Luther King. The City of Long Beach recognized them by issuing proclamations to each of the participating Girl Scouts.
