Why We Are Here

Girl Scouts in Idaho succeed. They demonstrate greater high school graduation rates and are 80% more likely to pursue a college education than non-Girl Scouts. They rise to the top in their careers and become civic-minded leaders in their communities. Today, we’re here to honor local Girl Scouts who have demonstrated extraordinary vision, achievement, and leadership, and to encourage them to continue their paths to success. We’re also here to raise funds for local Girl Scout programs and activities, and to raise awareness about the impact Girl Scouting has on thousands of girls throughout southern Idaho. Thank you for being here to help us celebrate and grow.

Lily Browning

Tessa Browning

Lily has been a Girl Scout for 9 years. She has learned so much from every badge she completed. The geocaching badge, for example, taught her to better navigate. This year, she is looking forward to finishing her Silver Award. Lily is in Honor Society at Taylorview Middle School in Idaho Falls and is in the 8th grade. To earn her Bronze Award, she gave much needed supplies to the Ronald McDonald house in Boise. Lily is always trying to go above and beyond to help her community, and Girl Scouts gives her the opportunity to do so. Tessa started as a Daisy and has been a Girl Scout for 7 years. She is in 6th grade at Alturas International Academy. Her favorite patch is the Junior Music Badge. To earn their Bronze Award, her troop collected things like pajamas, books, toothbrushes and other items to give to children going into foster care. Girl Scouts helps the community by seeing a problem and planning a way to fix it. In Tessa’s troop’s case, they saw the problem of foster children needing certain items and they filled backpacks with those things to help them.

Her troop’s Silver Award Project created two $550 scholarships for two women to attend college. They worked with Family Services Alliance (FSA), Idaho State University, and Idaho Central Credit Union. The troop presented the checks at Kind Community’s annual kick-off event to FSA and Idaho State University. Zionay is involved in Irving Middle School Cheer Squad, ISU Children’s Choir, Voice Lessons, ISU Theater, and Dance summer productions.

She is in 8th grade at Pocatello Community Charter School in Pocatello. Allison runs cross country and plays volleyball for her school. For her Bronze award, she went to her neighbors and community members for donations of children’s coloring books.
