Dear Girl Scout Family,

As we reflect on the challenges and triumphs of 2023, it’s evident that our mission to nurture girls of courage, confidence, and character remains as vital as ever. Despite changes, our Girl Scouts and staff have shown resilience and a commitment to making the world a better place. It is vital that we continue to support and guide our girls and volunteers during our councils transition.

In the past year, over 5,800 volunteers dedicated their time and energy to engage with over 11,000 Girl Scouts, fostering personal growth and joy through scouting. To all our volunteers, donors, and supporters, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Together, we form a strong community united by the common goal of empowering the next generation of leaders.

We are pleased to witness our membership growing once again as we continue to stablize our financial health. As we strive to “be the year of adventure and curiosity” that guides Girl Scouts forward, we remain steadfast in our commitment to their development and success.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making Girl Scouts of WNY a safe and inclusive space for girls to learn, grow, and build lasting friendships. Your dedication is truly appreciated.

Our Volunteers

2,109 Troop Co-Leaders

provided a safe, nurturing environment where girls could explore their world, try new experiences, and take the lead.

Being an effective Troop Leader requires coordination, teamwork, and excellent communication skills – as well as flexibility and a sense of humor!

93 volunteers serve in a Service Unit Management role which includes Operations, Volunteer and Program Coordinators.

These volunteers give tirelessly to set a vision for their area, organize meetings, coordinate volunteer teams, and serve as a communication liaison with the council.

More than 290 volunteers serve as Service Unit Team personnel who offer administrative support for their neighborhood.

From finances to recruitment, cookies to recognitions, welcome specialists to programming – their skills provided our troop leaders with local assistance and a robust experience for our girls.

At the

council level, volunteers share their talents in a variety of ways.

These include “Friends Of” groups at all of our camp properties, as well as the Outdoor Programming Committee, Gold Award Mentors, Trip Chaperones, and more. Our Council Delegates also form the core group of our Volunteer Advisory Panel, which meets twice yearly to offer insight on council planning.

2023 Outdoor and Camp Highlights

GSWNY owns and maintains nearly 1,800 acres of wooded land, with four primary properties: Camp Seven Hills, Camp Piperwood, Camp Windy Meadows, and Camp Timbercrest

GSWNY’s camp and outdoor programs proved to be a vital outlet for our girls. After months of uncertainty and limited capacity, our properties were the first spaces girls could gather for in-person programming and socializing. Our goal is to make sure everyone has access to green spaces and can enjoy the beauty of nature. 3,962 girls were able to develop or enhance their outdoor and leadership skills while building friendships to last a lifetime.

Donor Honor Roll

Girl Scouts of Western New York highly honors all of our donors. On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and most especially, the girls who benefit directly from your generosity, thank you!

Juliette Gordon Low Planned Giving Society

You can create a lasting legacy for future Girl Scouts in our community through a planned gift. Including a bequest in your estate ensures the next generation of girls can enjoy Girl Scouting just as much as you have! Large or small, the most meaningful gifts come from people like you, who deeply care about the work we are doing and want to ensure it continues well into the future.

Each year as our Juliette Gordon Low Society grows, so does the impact that these planned gifts have on our future Girl Scouts. These gifts go above and beyond what we are able to donate within our lifetime, and they fund our passions within Girl Scouts.
