Accommodations for Families of Leaders

• Some sites can accommodate spouses and family members accompanying troop leaders.

• At sites without such accommodations, the leaders should arrange to provide a tent for spouses and family members.

• Husbands, sons, and male leaders may not share sleeping quarters with the girls as per the Safety Activity Checkpoints.

• Children under five are NOT covered under Girl Scout insurance therefore, the parent assumes full responsibility.

Inclement Weather Alert

In case of inclement weather, if you do not receive notification by a council representative, please call to verify whether the camps are accessible. In some cases, weather may be severe enough to cause the closing of the Girl Scout Service Center(s). Announcements regarding closings are made on the local radio and TV stations.

Camp Piperwood: Pavilions

There are two pavilions near Anne and Jennifer Lodge. The first, Constance Mitchell Pavilion (left), is smaller.

The second is our new pavilion (located to the right of Constance Mitchell in photo), that can accommodate large groups and has 6 picnic tables. The area includes a large fire pit and a grill.

The Splashpad is available during the summer months (except during summer camp) and can be rented by the hour for an additional fee.

The area features a shaded pavilion, four picnic tables, two camper bathrooms, one staff bathroom, and two changing rooms.

Camp Piperwood: Navigation Station

The Archery Range and equipment are available upon request with an additional fee. The range requires a certified instructor.

Available: Year-Round by the main Camp Piperwood Parking Lot Equipment rental available.

There are Orienteering and Geocaching courses set up on Piperwood. Troops can rent out the equipment for an additional fee.

Camp Windy Meadows: Vanderburgh Lodge

Available for rental: Year-round

This newly renovated lodge is ideal for summer overnights and winter day trips. The cabin features lofts for campers to lay out mattresses.

Colder month overnights are considered primitive camping (groups will need to bring in their own water, camp stove, etc.) The large fireplace and fans help spread the heat throughout the building, but groups should be prepared to dress warm and bring low-temp sleeping bags.

Windy Meadows features beautiful trails, an archery range (available for an additional fee and must use with a certified instructor), gaga ball pit, Letterboxing Course, and seasonal field bathrooms.

Camp Timbercrest: Bellinger Lodge (Upstairs)

Bellinger Lodge is a multi-use facility that is available for year-round rentals.

Upstairs features:

• Large Dining Area: Seats 168 people (21 tables, 8 people per table)

• Commercial Kitchen: Walk-in fridge/ freezer, stove, oven, buffet table, dishwasher, dishes, cook/bakeware, microwave, coffee makers.

Camp Timbercrest: Bellinger Lodge (Downstairs)

Bellinger Lodge is a multi-use facility that is available for year-round rentals.

Downstairs (a.k.a. The Program Center) features:

• Shower Room with Bathrooms: 14 showers, 5 toilets

• Small Kitchen

• Multi-Use Program/Sleeping Space: 36 mattresses can fit on the floor slumber party-style

• Fireplace

• Windows overlooking picturesque Keyser Lake

Camp Timbercrest: Jackman Lodge

Available for rental: Year-round

• Two Sleeping Wings: Sleeps 32 total (16 each wing, 8 bunk beds each wing)

• Modern Kitchen: Fridge, stove, sink, storage, microwave. Renters must bring their own supplies (dishes, cook/ bakeware, utensils etc.)

The Yurts

Camp Timbercrest: Bellinger Lodge (Downstairs) Available

There are two identical yurts, which are platformbased round tents available for sleeping. Jackman lodge is located nearby and these yurts can be helpful for overflow bedding needs. These are also great options for families looking for a weekend away.

Each yurt features:

• Bunk Beds: 5 (sleeps 10 each yurt)

• Heat, which makes for a cozy winter stay!

• Bathrooms: The yurts are available for rent year round, but renters will need to use Jackman Lodge bathrooms in the winter. There are latrines in the area for the warmer months.

Camp Timbercrest: Strawberry Hill, Sunset, and Sprucewood Units

Available for rental: May 15 – Sept 30 (except during summer camp)

These three seasonal units feature cabents (cabin-tents) with vinyl canvas walls, permanent roofs, and floors.

All three units feature:

• Cabents: 7 each, 35 beds per unit

Camp Timbercrest: Hawthorne Unit

This beautiful lake spans over 31 acres. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of water activities.

Summer camp attendees enjoy swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and playing on the massive blow-up toys! Equipment can be rented. Water activities require a certified lifeguard/ instructor.

Camp Timbercrest: Sports & Recreation

Timbercrest features a gaga ball pit, basketball court, and large fields for playing sports and games. The property has a beautiful trail system, including a not-to-be-missed hike around the lake.

Camp Timbercrest: Horse Barn & Pasture

The horse pasture and stalls are primarily used during summer camp programming. Horses are rented during that specific time of year. However, we will consider special rentals of these facilities during the rest of the year.

Camp Timbercrest: Infirmary & Director's Cabin

These two seasonal structures are primarily utilized during summer camp. However, they can be used for overflow during large events and Service Unit Camp Outs.

Infirmary: 4 beds & 2 full bathrooms (toilet, sink & showers)

Director Cabin: 2 beds & 1 full bathroom (toilet, sink & shower)

Camp Timbercrest: Target Sports Range

There are several ponds on Lakeside. One is located at Hunter’s Cabin (see page 29), There is another one in front of the Lakeside Dining Hall, and a third towards the center of the property just beyond Maple Ledge. One pond can be used for canoeing and kayaking (requires permission and certified instructors/guards).

We recently built a new unit on Seven Hills Goodyear! The new unit features five seasonal cabins with skylights and porches. The unit will be named in the near future.

Please note that this unit does not yet have a kitchen shelter, but in case of rain campers may use the old Tally Ho unit shelter. The unit also has an outdoor fire pit.
