We have been eagerly preparing for a safe and enjoyable experience. Be sure to check out our virtual open houses where you can learn more about camp and meet your counselors in advance. Hey there Girl Scouts! We know camp isn’t just a place; it’s a feeling! We can’t wait to have you back at camp and to welcome any first timers! What is camp anyway? It’s the fun of trying something different, meeting new friends, and the thrill of exploration. It’s pride when you get a bullseye at archery, taking in a sunset on a hike, laughing at all the jokes in your bungie, or listening to the silence after singing Linger at the campfire. Camp is so many things, even a second home. At Day Camp, it’s all about cooling off in the sparkling pool, getting your hands a little dirty with tie-dye, and decorating doors with chalk markers. Camp is so many things, even a second home.

Mama Bear

Our Camp Community is an incredibly special thing to be a part of. The encouragement, patience, and unending support that comes from playing, growing and working together can help campers overcome anything. Camp helps Girl Scouts build community, as well as develop a new resilience and confidence to do challenging things. Staff and campers come together to form a unique support system where campers are embraced for their uniqueness, and find another welcoming place to call home. So, keep following those winding roads, and you’ll find us at home, ready to welcome you through our gates.

Covid-19 With the continuation of the pandemic and ongoing changes to state, local, and federal guidelines as well as CDC best practices, we will continually evaluate and modify our safety protocols and procedures as necessary. We are working diligently to maintain the health and safety of all in our summer camp community and appreciate your help to keep our camps a Covid-free setting. Overnight camps will continue to require a negative Covid-19 test or proof of full vaccination. More on these procedures will be available after registration in your caregiver packet.

All About Camp Pack your Excitement, because camp is coming! What are you waiting for? Camp experiences and friendships are made to last a lifetime. Between the nature walks, archery, tie-dye and songs and sisterhood, campers are sure to develop new skills and come home with confidence and wonderful stories. Camp helps our kids build resilience, confidence and learn how to build community. Our trained and caring staff members support Girl Scouts ages 5-17 in discovering who they are and what they can become. Our engaging and experiential programs are designed with camper age in mind, and we empower campers to choose what activities they are interested in! Our programs support campers to grow their passions and take healthy risks and age appropriate risks in a supportive environment.

Overnight Camp Specifics

CAMP WHISPERING PINES

Is Your Camper Ready for Overnight Camp? This is the most important question to answer before registration! You know better than anyone that sending your Girl Scout to an overnight camp is a really big deal. At Camp Whispering Pines, campers build independence, self-confidence and leadership skills. However, participants can only reap these benefits if they are emotionally prepared for overnight camp. You can help prepare your camper by getting outside regularly, staying overnight at a relative’s place, or trying a sleepover or backyard campout at a friend’s house. The great outdoors are an essential part of camp—ensure your camper is comfortable with the sights, sounds and scenery of nature, including bugs and other creatures. Is your Girl Scout curious about overnight camp, but not quite ready for a week away from home? On pages 29-32, check out our Family Camp and Troop Camp options, as well as the Camp Whispering Pines Sampler option. These shortened camps will get your camper ready for a full week of camp later in the season or next summer.

Missing Home

CAMP WHISPERING PINES

While at camp, we are all about unplugging from technology and connecting with community. We request that caregivers help us to ensure our phone lines are open by only calling their camper in the event of an emergency. Girl Scouts are encouraged to write letters and can receive letters from caregivers that are given to staff at check-in, or sent at least 1-2 weeks ahead of the camp session. Send your camper with addressed, stamped envelopes, stationery and a pen so that everything is ready for them to write home. Mail letters to your Girl Scout using the address to the right. Before your camper comes to camp, it’s important to prepare them for being independent. • Work with your camper to help her pick a camp, plan and pack • Spend a practice weekend away from home, like a sleepover at a friend’s house • Invite a friend to attend the same camp • Before camp starts, strategize steps to take if the separation between camp and home becomes overwhelming. (We find that things like talking with a counselor, writing a letter, and looking forward to the new adventures at camp work well!) • Teach your Girl Scout to be their own advocate and vocalize needs— if we don’t know about it, we can’t help out! • For fun video tips, check out GSUSA’s “Ultimate Summer Camp Hacks from the Pros” playlist on YouTube. You’ll find videos that prepare you and your girl for packing, making friends, staying healthy and more at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZaWZO965rJ37NWmgTVN96nG KUgJ3AQSR. 21
