Summer Camps and Events What will she choose to do this summer?

At Girl Scouts, girls find a safe space where they are free to be themselves. Surrounded by the support of their counselors and friends, girls will try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, and get to be themselves. They will fail at something, be encouraged to try again, and possibly fail one more time. But the lesson will be in trying again, when they learn not to give up.

Girl Scouting is a community unlike any other. We provide an open, non-competitive environment, where girls find the courage to meet new people, make friends, and be champions for others as they challenge themselves to try new activities. Girls learn to work well with others, become self-reliant, and develop their leadership skillsâ&#x20AC;Śand have tons of fun while doing it.

Experiences for Every Girl

Day Camp by Community Run by volunteers, led by teens, these day camps last five days and are held in communities all over southeastern Wisconsin. Sign her up for a Day Camp by Community session near you. Silver Brook Day Camp Day camp sessions run for three to five days at Camp Silver Brook in West Bend. Camp is run by our staff and each session has a different theme. Alice Chester Overnight Camp Treat her to two, three, five, or more nights at beautiful Camp Alice Chester in East Troy. Each camp session has a special focus. Activities are geared for girls at every level. CampHERO This camp is geared for teens and offers hands-on opportunities to explore careers in the protective services. Girls train during the day and sleep at Trefoil Oaks Program Center in Kenosha. Spring Adventures Day Camp Get a jump start on the summer fun by attending this day camp during Spring Break. Girls can choose their days or attend all week. Several bus stops throughout Milwaukee. Events focus on one topic. Each session lasts several hours. Some are geared just for girls while others have a troop or family focus. They are held throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Camp Registration

How to Register for Camp Before You Register for Camp 

Register girls and adults who are volunteering as members of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and pay the $25 membership registration fee. Go to gswise.org.



IMPORTANT! For the safety of our girls, all adults volunteering at camp must be registered Girl Scout members and have a current background check on file. 1. Go to gswise.org, click on VOLUNTEER NOW, then VOLUNTEER TODAY. Make sure the “I want to join as a volunteer” button is checked. Search for Camp Volunteer and select it as your role. 2. Pay the $25 membership registration fee. 3. Complete the online background check.  After you register, you will receive an email from Asurint, our background check vendor. Click on the link and complete the form within 48 hours.  Check your SPAM folder, if needed.  Your social security number is required to do a national background check.  Your social security number is kept confidential and secure.



Make sure you are using an updated browser. We recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. CampDoc is not compatible with Internet Explorer (IE), mobile devices, iPads, or tablets. If you use these devices, you will not have access to all of our camp options. Make sure the email address you are using is active and up to date. We use this address to send emails before, during, and sometimes after sessions. You can update your email address in CampDoc up until the session starts.

Camp Payment Options 

Reserve a spot by paying in full OR paying the minimum deposit required ($25 for Day Camps or $50 for Overnight Camps).  CampDoc accepts payment with a credit or debit card (Visa, Discover, and MasterCard), or via a checking or savings account.  When paying the minimum deposit, the remaining balance will be due by Wednesday, May 30. Please check the option for automatic billing so we can charge your card on May 31.  Payment plans are also an option and can be set up within CampDoc.



Use Program Activity Credits (PACs) toward the session fee (after paying the camp deposit.) Girls earn PACs by participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program or Fall Nut Sale.  Do not wait to register until you receive your PAC card, you may miss out on the session of your choice or the early registration discount.  Register for camp and pay the deposit to hold your camper’s spot. PACs cannot be used to pay for camp deposits.  Once you receive her PAC card, follow the instructions on the back to pay for camp. 



Apply for financial assistance if needed. It is available for families who qualify and is funded by proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program and gifts to Girl Scouting. Financial assistance will be considered for one resident camp session, one day camp session, and one event per season, per girl OR two day camp sessions and one event per season, per girl.  Pay the required, minimum deposit and request financial assistance in CampDoc.  You will receive an email containing a link. Complete the form to submit your financial assistance request.  Check your SPAM folder, if needed.

Camp Discount Save $25 by registering for any camp before the price increase on Wednesday, April 18.

How to Register for Camp Sessions Registration opens on Wednesday, January 17 at noon. Go to gswise.org. The link to CampDoc will be posted on the website. 1. Select the camp session. Sessions will be marked according to available spots.  Full or closed sessions will not be displayed. If your preferred session is not listed, it is not available.  Day camps requiring an adult volunteer to register with the girl will appear as ‘Waitlisted’ (see p. 7). IMPORTANT! Each girl, adult, boy, or peewee must have their own Participant Profile in CampDoc. 2.

Pay the deposit or make a full payment. IMPORTANT! Health profiles must be completed in CampDoc within one week of registration. Incomplete health profiles may result in cancellation of camp registration.

Register for the camp session in CampDoc  Read and follow the disclaimers listed in CampDoc.  Select Boy or Peewee.  Do not select additional items for Boys/Peewees, such as Girl Scout attire.

Waitlists Alice Chester Overnight Camp and Silver Brook Day Camp may have a waitlist when capacity is reached for a session. If more space becomes available, you will be notified. Some Day Camps by Community require an adult to register to volunteer for one day before they can register their camper(s). This is the only way that these camps can ensure that enough adult coverage is provided for girls.  If you see ‘Waitlist’ when selecting your camp during registration, you can add your camper to the waitlist but the camper is not registered for camp. To continue registration, an adult must register to volunteer on specific days during the same camp session. (Adults volunteering must also be registered members of GSUSA.)  Once the adult registers, contact Customer Care at 800-565-4475 or customercare@gswise.org. Tell them: “I have registered for Day Camp by Community and would like my camper removed from the waitlist.” Make sure to include your camper’s name.  You will be notified via email when the camper is removed from the waitlist. Complete the registration process. (If the registration is not complete within 10 days, your camper will be placed back on the waitlist).  If a troop is providing adequate adult coverage for the girls in their troop—we may be able to remove multiple girls from the waitlist.  Remember: The early registration discount for camp ends on Wednesday, April 18. Register adults, get your camper removed from the waitlist, and SAVE!

Boys/Peewees Registrations for Day Camps by Community

Camp Cancellations and Refunds    



Camp deposits are non-refundable ($25 for day camp sessions/$50 for overnight sessions). Cancellations must be received in writing. Go to CampDoc to request a cancellation. Cancellations received six weeks or more before the session start date:  Refunds can be made minus the camp deposit. Cancellations received less than six weeks before the session start date:  Refunds, will only be issued for medical reasons, summer school, a death or critical illness in the immediate family, or if the family moves out of the area. Full refunds are issued:  If your session is cancelled.  If a session fills before your registration is completely processed but after payment is received (see ‘Waitlists’). Changing sessions:  You can change the session she will attend without penalty once. After that, you will be charged a $25 fee to change sessions.

Your camper’s safety is our #1 priority. Our camps ensure safety by following state licensing and Girl Scout Safety standards which include, but are not limited to:

Is my camper ready for camp? Yes, she is! With our day and overnight camp options there is something for all girls at any comfort level. While at camp, she’ll be paired with girls her own age and participate in activities for her level of camp experience.

Can my camper bring a cell phone? Our camps are unplugged to give girls the opportunity to connect with nature, others, and themselves.

Take the camper quiz on page 28. Am I ready for my camper to attend camp? Absolutely! You can relax and enjoy knowing she is in a safe and fun environment surrounded by trained staff and volunteers. She will be having experiences that will last a lifetime and stories she’ll look forward to sharing with you.

What if my camper has special needs? We are dedicated to serving all girls at camp and will work diligently to make sure your camper feels included no matter your situation. Contact the camp director so both of you can share details on how to make her camp experience a success.

Who are the staff and volunteer directors? We select talented, caring adults with experience, ability to serve as role models, and genuine desire to work with children. Our staff and camp directors are trained to help your camper thrive covering topics such as: first aid and CPR, emergency procedures, child development, and much more. Can my camper be placed with a specific friend at camp? (Applies to Silver Brook Day Camp, CampHERO, Alice Chester Overnight Camp, and Racine and Kenosha Day Camps by Community) You can register your girl for camp with her BFF! If girls want to be placed with a specific Camp Buddy, note that on the Buddy Request line when completing the camper profile in CampDoc. In order to honor your request, both buddies must put the other’s name on the Camp Buddy Request line. Please note that except for CampHERO, girls need to register for the same session, be in the same grade, and list each other as their Camp Buddy.

Are there opportunities for Program Aides (PAs) to volunteer? Yes. Look for the PA icon used throughout this book for ways PAs can assist at camps.

An example of our skill progression: To teach targeting skills, Daisy Girl Scouts will learn how to use sling shots; Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts learn how to target the bullseye with bows and arrows; and older Girl Scouts may perfect their skills on a 3D archery course.

Campers entering grades 1–7: Fee includes a T-shirt, patch, busing, programming, and some meals/snacks. Girls must have completed K5 to attend camp as a camper. PAs/CITs entering grades 8–graduating seniors: Do not pay a camp fee but still receive the patch, busing, and some meals/snacks. Peewees (ages 3–5) PW and boys (ages 6–12) B : Can attend for $15 per day, only on the day the parent volunteers at camp. See gswise.org for details and qualifications for each camp. Please make sure your child is ready to be away from you and spend a day at camp. Adults: Do not pay a camp fee but still receive the patch (if desired), busing, and some meals/snacks.

Keeping camp safe 

Each adult volunteer on site is a registered Girl Scout and has passed a background check.



Each camp has a health supervisor on staff all day and a first aider for each overnight.

Camp Locations Each camp is owned by GSWISE and maintained by GSWISE staff. Camps feature a mix of buildings, outdoor shelters, forests, and open spaces. Camp Pottawatomie Hills–East Troy

Swimming and boating activities are supervised by trained and certified lifeguards.

Camp Winding River–Neosho



Archery instructors are trained and certified by national archery organizations.

Trefoil Oaks Program Center–Kenosha



Camps are licensed and inspected by state health inspectors.



Weather is monitored and plans are in place for heat, storms, and emergencies.



Camp directors are volunteers and are trained in leadership development, emergency procedures, outdoor skills, and much more. They are from your community and spend the whole year training and organizing your week of day camp.

Volunteers! You Make Day Camp by Community Possible Adults from each family network are needed to volunteer one (or more!) days For each day of camp, one adult is needed for every five to eight girls. That means adults from each family and/or troop are needed to volunteer one or more days to make camp happen.

Uphold justice and peace as campers unfold the “Mystery of the Mascot.” Fred the Turtle, Camp Silver Brook’s mascot, is missing and legend has it that he was taken captive nearby. Immerse yourself in worldwide cultures. Learn how food is prepared around the world. Participate in blind vegetable taste tests, sample foods and crafts from different continents, and enjoy “racing around the globe” in an amazing challenge course.

A typical day at Camp Alice Chester

At Camp Alice Chester you’ll discover your summer self. Whether you stay for two nights or twelve you’ll have the chance to splash in the lake, reach the top of the rock wall, hike the trails (on foot or on horseback!), and sing around the campfire. What will you choose to do? Perfect your outdoor cooking skills, boost your creativity, or travel outside of camp?

Alice Chester Overnight Camp General Information

All girls entering grades 2– graduated high school seniors are welcome There are many different ways to enjoy Camp Alice Chester! It all depends on each girl’s interests and readiness for camp.

Two to Three Night Camp Adventures These are great for first-time campers or girls with busy summer schedules.

Flexible pricing Overnight camp opportunities for girls are subsidized by Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast. This means the cost of providing camp programs and operating camp is greater than the fee paid to participate. The flexible pricing system offers families the opportunity to help cover the true cost of overnight camp if they are financially able. For each session, you will see three price options:

Five Night Camp Adventures

Level 1 adds, on average, an additional $50 per day to Level 3 pricing. This reflects close to the actual cost of operating camp per girl. Replacement supplies, maintenance of the buildings and grounds, and property staff support are included in this fee.

These are traditional overnight camp experiences with a variety of session themes to meet the interests of all girls. Some sessions include a field trip .

Level 2 adds, on average, an additional $25 per day to Level 3 pricing. This covers approximately 75% of the actual cost of camp per girl and is designated for those who can pay more, but not the full fee.

These are for campers who love horses and want to spend the week focusing on riding .

Level 3 is the lowest cost offered for our summer programs at Camp Alice Chester. This covers approximately 50% of the actual cost per girl of facilitating the camp program.

Five to Seven Night Adventure Trips Our adventure trips are great for the seasoned camper or girls looking to explore the world beyond camp. Girls spend the majority of their time away from camp on their great adventure .

Five to Twelve Night Leadership Programs These are for older girls wanting to become camp counselors or gain experience working with children as a part of their future career.

Select the fee that you feel is affordable and appropriate for your family. The flexible pricing does not affect the quality of your child’s program, as all three fees are for exactly the same program. We ask that if you are able to pay the full cost of camp, that you do so. If choosing more than one week you may, for example, pay Level 1 for one week and another level the next week. If multiple children are attending camp, you may pay the full fee for one child and another fee for another child. The goals of offering flexible pricing options are to provide the highest quality programs possible to serve all community income levels and to preserve camp for generations to come.

Five Night Horse Programs

Check-in and check-out Check-in anytime from 2:30–4:00 p.m. Check-out is after the 30-minute family presentation that begins at 4:00 p.m. on closing day.

Transportation Most families drop off and pick up their child at camp. If necessary, transportation by van to and from camp is available for a $35 fee. Indicate your desired stop during camp registration. Times for stops vary as we do not always have campers at each of the stops. You will be notified a week before your session of the pick-up times. To get her ready for overnight camp, try some of the things mentioned in the quiz or sign her up for an event or day camp session. 19–24 points: She may want to try a two-night or three-night camp session. 25+ points: She is ready for overnight camp!

Do you like to meet new people and interact with other girls, not just your buddy? Can you shower, brush your teeth, and do your hair without much help? Do you enjoy being a part of group activities? Stay up late and enjoy the night life. Then sleep in before starting the fun all over again! Calling all night owls for glow-in-the-dark hikes, star gazing, luminous crafts, a PJ fashion show with your unit, and a late-night dance party!

The entire camp will be on a wacky late-night schedule, but we make sure that activities are appropriate for each age/level. The Star Lab, night vision goggles, and midnight bowling are some of the unique activities girls may enjoy. Our horse programs are progressive which means as you move up through the programs you learn new skills and increase your comfort level with horses. Strengthen your leadership resume by spending more time mentoring younger campers. A high ropes course and road trip to other camps will have your confidence soaring. Overnight camp for girls entering grades 9–12 Trefoil Oaks Program Center, Kenosha, WI Milwaukee Area Technical College, Oak Creek, WI Have you ever wondered about the physical and mental requirements needed for a career in the protective services? Train with real-world heroes and see what it takes to be a firefighter, police officer, and Emergency Medical Technician as you explore these career options. Learn about blood spatter analysis and crime scene processing, use the Jaws of Life to extricate a crash victim, practice CPR, chase down and handcuff a suspect, rappel down a building, and so much more! You’ll spend your days on the training grounds at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Oak Creek campus and your nights kicking back and relaxing at Trefoil Oaks Program Center. About the Weather

Grades K5–8

Safety is our #1 priority. If the schools around the GSWISE property in which the event is to take place (or at bus pick-up locations) are closed, or delayed for snow or other severe weather conditions, cancellations will be announced by 7:00 a.m. on the day of the camp. We reserve the right to relocate the camp. If the camp is relocated, parents will be notified by email or telephone. Closures will be announced on all major television stations in our area and on 620 WTMJ AM. In addition, participants will be notified by email or telephone (if available).

Greetings fair maidens! Pray thee join us at the Camp Alice Chester Renaissance Faire! Whether you want to be a princess, knight, fairy, or dragon tamer, this week will astound with activities letting you imagine, create, and compete. Jousting, leather work, and juggling are just a few options. So, be ye a fair maiden or a jester of the Queen’s Court, come one, come all for fun and sport! Girls and volunteers must provide their own lunch. Morning and afternoon snack are provided Monday, March 26–Friday, March 30

Pick-Up Procedures

Fee: $25 per girl per day, or $125 for the week.

To provide a safe and speedy pick-up for your Girl Scout, be sure you have notified us of all the adults who are authorized to check out your girl from the program. Girls may only be released to an authorized adult. Only those adults that you listed on the registration form will be allowed to check your girl out at the end of the day. Adults will be verified by a photo ID. Please be sure that you have communicated this to all you have authorized.

How to Register for Summer Events There’s so much to do!

How to Register

Whether you’re a go-getter, innovator, risk-taker, or leader, we’ve got a summer event that will unleash your inner G.I.R.L. Plus, we’ve included more fall events for those who like to plan ahead. We encourage you to try something new but be sure to sign up for old favorites too! Interested in engineering? New to nature? We have programs just for you! Did you love canoeing last summer? Or climbing the rock wall? Chances are you’ll love it again. Events are loaded with classic Girl Scout programming so get ready to learn a lot, have fun, and make new friends.

Registration opens on Wednesday, January 17, at noon.

 Girls can attend day events by themselves, with their troop, or with a favorite adult.  For sleepover events, girls need to have an adult chaperone.

Program Activity Credits (PACs) Girls earn PACs by participating in the Fall Nut Sale or Cookie Program Activity. They can be used to pay for all or partial event fees. Register online and pay in full for the activity for the girl who has the PAC. After registering and paying for the event, complete the PAC redemption form at gswise.org>Resources. We will then send a reimbursement for the PAC amount.

 Events are a fun way to start or complete requirements for an earned award such as a badge or Journey award.

Financial assistance

Leaders! Complete your Outdoor Skills and Planning the Overnight training requirements by attending one of the Outdoor Progression Series events: Outdoor Adventurer, Outdoor Camper, Adventure Camper, or Trailblazer Sleepovers.

Financial assistance is available to help members participate in Girl Scout activities. Financial assistance can be considered for one event per season (fall, spring, summer) per girl. To request event financial assistance, select the Financial Aid box during online registration. A Financial Assistance Form will be emailed to the family to complete and submit. Financial assistance is funded by proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program and gifts to Girl Scouting. Check your SPAM folder if needed.

We invite girls to attend summer events for the grade she is entering in the fall.



All GSWISE-sponsored events are fun, interactive, educational, held to the highest safety standards, and developed to meet the needs of all girls.



Some events are appropriate for the whole family. Find these events in the Families, Troops, and Friends section on pages 44-46. These are the only events where siblings are allowed to attend.



Events are facilitated by staff, volunteers, and/or girls (under supervision).



For day events, registration closes two days prior to the event. An additional $10 late fee will be charged for registrations received the week before the event.



For overnight events, registration closes one week prior to the event. An additional $10 late fee will be charged for registrations received less than two weeks prior to the event.



Some events cannot accept late registrations.

How to Register for Summer Events Confirmations and Recognitions 



Confirmations can be viewed two weeks prior to the event. The adult who registered for the event can view confirmations at gswise.org>MY GS>Member Profile> MY Activities. The adult who registered can see a list of all registrants by clicking on i in MY Activities. All events are connected to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and many events help girls earn a Girl Scout recognition—a badge, patch, or Journey award. In the event description, “Earned award” means that girls will complete all steps needed to earn the award and “Related award” means that girls will complete some steps needed to earn the award.

Cancellation/Refund Policy 



Cancellations received four weeks prior to the event can be transferred to a future event at the time of cancellation, or a member may request a credit to the appropriate account. Credits must be used for events happening prior to September 1, 2018. Cancellations received between one week (two weeks for overnight events) and four weeks prior to the event will be credited the event fee, minus a $5 processing fee for each registered member. Credits must be used for events happening prior to September 1, 2018. No transfers can take place during this time period.



If the event is cancelled by the council, full refunds will be issued.



Refunds should be received within two weeks.

Program Aides (PA) PA Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, you can assist at events by leading activities as a Program Aide! Have fun, strengthen your leadership skills, and meet new friends while working directly with younger girls. 



Attend Program Aide Core Training before you volunteer. Although not required, it is a good idea. It is loaded with information to help you work well with younger girls. See page 54 for PA training information.

Want to bring a friend? All girls are welcome to attend events. Encourage friends to become Girl Scouts to receive the Girl Scout event fee or they can choose to pay the event fee plus an additional $25 non-member fee per event. Paying the non-member fee doesn’t register them as a Girl Scout. Find out more by contacting customercare@gswise.org.

Adult Volunteers/Chaperones Chaperones are required to be registered members and have a current background check on file if chaperoning girls other than their family. Adults volunteering at Girl Scout programs are required to be registered with Girl Scouts of the USA as an adult member. Safety is our number one priority. We can ensure the safety of all Girl Scouts and Girl Scout volunteers only when adults become registered members and complete the required background check.

There is a non-member option when registering for events. It is intended for girls that want to try out Girl Scouts before joining and for parents attending programs with their child who are not responsible for chaperoning other children. There is an additional $25 fee for girl and adult non-members to attend events (except for family and friend events).

Girls will enjoy games, a craft, and a camp snack while parents and troop leaders have a chance to talk with staff and volunteers, tour the camp, and ask questions. Girl Scout Highest Awards for Girls Entering Grades 6–12 Girl Scout Gold Award Training

Bronze. Silver. Gold. These represent the highest honors a Girl Scout can earn. All three awards give you the chance to do big things while working on an issue you care about. Whether you want to plant a community garden at your school and inspire others to eat healthily for your Girl Scout Bronze Award, advocate for animal rights for your Silver, or build a career network that encourages girls to become scientists and engineers for your Gold, you’ll inspire others (and yourself). As you earn one of Girl Scouting’s highest awards, you’ll change your corner of the world—and beyond. The possibilities are endless.

Entering grades 9–12 The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Once achieved, it shows colleges, employers, and your community that you’re out there changing the world. This is an interactive training designed to help girls learn about the Gold Award process and procedures. This training is required before submitting a Gold Award Proposal or starting a Gold Award Project. Girl Scout Highest Awards Celebration Entering grades 4–12 This celebration is held in May for girls who have earned the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards and their guests. Invitations are mailed in the spring to girls that are eligible for recognition. To be eligible, girls must submit their Final Report by February 1 online at gswise.org>Highest Awards. Summer Events

Entering grades 6–8 Have you ever looked around your neighborhood or school and wondered how you could make things better? Going for the Girl Scout Silver Award—the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn—gives you the chance to do big things and make improvements in your community in the process. This is an interactive training designed to help girls learn about the Silver Award process and procedures. Girls are highly encouraged to take this training prior to submitting their Silver Award Proposal to the council. Fee: $5 per girl 1 – Tuesday, June 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m., New Berlin Service Center

Entering grades 9–12 Girls going for the Girl Scout Gold Award must meet with the Highest Award Mentor Committee for a first and final presentation. A girl cannot start her project until approval is received from the council. For project approval and to schedule a presentation date, submit a Project Proposal to the council via Go Gold Online (girlscouts.org/gogoldonline) at least three weeks prior to the preferred, pre-scheduled presentation date you would like to attend. The council will then schedule a presentation appointment to approve your project. A Final Report will be submitted to Go Gold Online and your final presentation will be scheduled. 1 – Monday, June 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Woodhaven Service Center

Your troop can plan the adventure of a lifetime! Girls develop self-confidence and leadership skills by working together on all the planning phases.

2019—Essence of Europe Application deadline: September 30, 2018 This “grand tour” of tours will stretch your imagination and open your eyes to six fabulous countries. It is a true taste of Europe and a special adventure Girl Scouts will love. You’ll see amazing sights, from Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel to London’s Buckingham Palace. And you’ll get to take the high-speed Eurostar train from Paris to London, an exciting and unique travel experience. Girls must be 14 or older at the time of travel. To organize a safe and enjoyable troop trip:  Refer to the Troop Trip Guidelines and Safety Activity Checkpoints at gswise.org.  Complete and submit a Troop Trip Application form found at gswise.org for: o

One-to-two night trips to a non-council owned site more than 100 miles away from the troop’s community

A trip of three or more nights.

Girl Scout Destinations take Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors on unique trips ranging from hiking in Yellowstone Park, horseback riding through the Chattahoocee National Forest, saving turtles in Costa Rica, escaping to the tropical rain forest of Belize, to astronautics in Alabama. Trips generally happen in the summer, range in length from several days to a few weeks, and are sponsored by Girl Scout councils across the country or Girl Scouts of the USA-approved organizations, like Outward Bound.
