Sweet Inspirations LOOKBOOK
Get to know more about me and my work. My name is Gitty Chemoss and I am a Kenyan born artist living with my family in the Netherlands (Holland). It is in Holland that I discovered my love for making patterns. I am a self-taught artist and my love for the arts has spurred me on to pursuing a career in Surface Pattern Design. Many of my designs are created from my imagination inspired by nature. I have always loved to observe the world around me, to look at things from different perspectives and ďŹ nd what makes them unique, different, beautiful and also what binds them. In my mind I try to weave a story that creates connections and harmony. I would describe my style as eclectic, evolving, vibrant with a touch of old soul, whimsical, imaginative and hopefully inspirational. There is so much around us that is an expression of creative power at its ďŹ nest, whether it be in nature or our own creation. I count myself as fortunate to be able to share my gift and make art that brings myself and others great joy.
Imagine. Inspire. Beautify.

Ode to Holland
This mini-collection comprises of just a few of my many impressions of Holland. While here, I have found so many niches of inspiration, falling in love with its canals and woods, its architecture and friendly countrymen, the wildflowers at the start of spring and my little boys in our back garden, splashing away in rain puddles.
The main pattern is titled Tulip Fields. The first time I saw tulips was at the Keukenhof gardens which is a gorgeous park that is open for a few weeks in early spring. Rows upon rows of lovely colored tulips of all shapes and sizes. The second pattern is titled Tulip Windmill. Windmills were strange and awesome to me the first time I saw them, such massive structures turning with the power of the wind, nature and science working in harmony. Dutch Clogs is the name of the third pattern. These wooden handmade shoes are surprisingly comfortable and durable. They were very much a part of Dutch culture and tradition worn by workers and farmers in the middle ages. Canal Bridge is the title of the fourth pattern. These bridges are found everywhere in Holland. Gentle waters running under them, as fairways for the swans, wild ducks and geese...they offer such a picturesque view.

Nostalgia Lasting impressions are often times formed when we encounter things that spark our creativity. They become memories that give us inspiration when we want to create and share in the joy they bring us. This small collection of patterns represents a few of those things, from my childhood, that nurtured my love of colour, art and nature.
Flower Power
Flower Power - I have always loved flowers, from the time I was young. We were surrounded by nature and there were always flowers growing in the garden. We would spend hours playing outside, in and among the flowers. .
African Vilolet - My mother would grow the most beautiful African violets in all shades of colour. She poured her love into caring for them, and they bloomed. She taught me that for things to be their very best, you have to give them your very best.
African Violet
Jacaranda - The lilac color of the flower from the jacaranda tree is so beautiful. When they fall, they form a carpet of purple on the ground. There was no color so stunning that I had ever seen. Money Plant- Many of the homes I visited with my family when I was young always had a money plant trained to go round the room. I did not grow up seeing cut flowers in vases, but long trails of leafy green houseplants. Jacaranda
