PARANAPIACABA SĂƒO PAULO - BRA

CULTURAL CENTRE

Paranapiacaba is a historical city-village, primarily built and planned because of the Brazilian Rail Way, that used this location as a transference area. All the train wagons that would descend to Santos, necessarily had to pass through this checking point. Today, it’s very touristic given the historical buildings, the first soccer field in Brazil and the fast weather change. Almost everyday a really dense fog covers all the houses and streets of the village.

2018 giulia giagio camila ungaro

This atmosphere permeates the project due to the simple finish, narrow facade and the way it hides itself into the landscape. All of that being possible by its positioning beneath the new soccer field level. The proposal to this odd city, fulfills all the claims that this new environment had to have, being very open, multitasking and transforming itself into a new meeting point near the main comerce shed.

STUDY GROUP CONCLUSION WORK

For many years, the urban space has been reflecting the traditional division between the gender roles. Reserving to women the domestic environment and to men the public spaces. As a consequence, our cities have been planned and built by men and for men, reproducing then the relation of power and domination between genders. Today, we live in conflict between the way society is consolidanting itself and the urban space in which it is inserted. Even modern city plans have been following that conception, showing how these projects, even the ones which work with public spaces, mantain the universal man’s priviledge. And yet, most of the time, they desconsider the natural dynamics and the sociocultural diferences of our own urban space. That city model does not cover all the plurality that our contemporary society carries with it. Taking these affirmations as motivation, our group project addresses the architectural “making” of public space, “thinking” under the logic of the female gender, trying to understand and consolidate the urban space as democratical. This work generated three products: a book about everything we researched during the year, including our work with 23 women, from 20 different places in the city of São Paulo, an educational leaflet and a public leaflet, so that we could better distribute our conclusions.

BANGALORE - IND WORKSHOP

Located in Bangalore, this very odd site, was donated to two specials organizations, one named JAAGA and the other IN:CH academy. These two groups reserved this space for 36 students, from 3 different nations to work together as an ending to an workshop travel. All of the students and volunteers envolved showed their best work and helped create this new ribbon that could be continued along in other flyover modules. The new furniture tried to create an urban shared space, where the cultural board games were celebrated as a way of combining children and adults in the same place, giving it a day-night life.

The manufactured appearance, showed how simple it was supposed to be. As an experiment, the group was specially receptive to the indian maisons, absorbing all the local know-how. The different colors, levels and flora of the designed ribbon compose a welcoming but respected space by all of the neighbors. design on the flyover columns symbolizing a cow and a bull.

UBS GURUGI CONDE / PARAÍBA - BRA CONTEST

Quilombola communities were presented to us as an organization capable of resisting the consequent historical impositions and injustices, since the arrival of the colonizers in Brazil. We understand that resisting is synonymous with collaborating, which is the result, therefore, of collective organization. Enhancing this function is what we intend to do with the construction of the Basic Health Unit of the Quilombola do Gurugi Community. The primary function of this type of public equipment is to serve the population in the consultative and assistance scope. It is a welcoming space that allows our drawing not to have a hermetic and little permanence characteristic. An open, democratic UBS is desired, where the whole community feels free to enter and where health is treated in a more humane way.
