da sempre l’uomo lascia una traccia immaginifica su pietre, tessili, metalli, tele quando parla di ciò che è.... the man has always left a trace imaginative on stones, textiles, metals, canvas when he talks about himself....

Pensiamo immagini, e non parole…questa antica verità è sempre più confortata dai progressi delle neuroscienze. Ciò significa che le incisioni rupestri e Basquiat, i tessili tradizionali africani o oceanici e l’arte pittorica antica, i sigilli sumeri e Lucio Fontana parlano la stessa lingua, usano un alfabeto metaforico di segni che è comune all’umanità da almeno quarantamila anni…E’ la lingua che gli esseri umani parlano per narrare ciò che sono più che ciò che hanno..per indagare il Mistero della vita, cercare di comprenderlo o quantomeno lascare una traccia..

Ecco perché in questa esposizione troverete sigilli sumeri di cinquemila anni fa, animazioni multimediali, tessili provenienti da diverse parti del mondo, dipinti antichi..con/fusi insieme.

Lo spazio è suggestivo, il luogo ancora di più…Laigueglia è una delle perle rare del ponente ligure: bella, struggente e discreta..Ancora molto ligure ( tribale…) e insieme aperta al mondo globale… Thor Heyerdahl la amava profondamente e chissà che il suo Kon Tiki prima o poi non riappaia all’orizzonte… Difficile immaginare un luogo più adeguato per cercare di rappresentare, o meglio di evocare, l’antico alfabeto metaforico intriso di bellezza incardinato su immagini archetipiche che forse non conosciamo ma ri/conosciamo. E’ un alfabeto vero e proprio: il Prof.Emanuel Anati, archeologo raffinato ed innovatore, ha individuato 28 segni che appartengono a gran parte delle culture a partire dal neolitico. Semir Zeki, neuroscienziato, parla di neuroestetica..ma ciascuno di noi può semplicemente ruotare di novanta gradi questi segni presenti su ogni tastiera di computer : ) per ottenere un sorriso…e un’immagine che si trova da quarantamila anni ovunque qualcuno abbia voluto evocare uno stato d’animo felice…ecco l’archetipo che si manifesta, attraverso un segno…

L’evento è puntuale e fantasmagorico, a partire dal nome : il salto dell’acciuga.

L’omonimo racconto di Nico Orengo evoca una Liguria senza tempo, che con la sua materia più semplice - l’acciuga, uno dei pesci più “poveri” che il mare ci offrecementa relazioni e suggestioni via via più lontane, con una forza centrifuga che non si depotenzia nel suo agire, e non smarrisce l’origine. Una forza che agisce in modo orizzontale, creando connessioni e nodi …come la Rete..

Senza soluzione di continuità sugli schermi della Sanità Pubblica di Laigueglia potrete quindi vedere ed ascoltare in cuffia un intervento del Prof.Anati dal titolo Quarantamila anni di arte contemporanea, animazioni create con immagini di incisioni rupestri e sigilli sumeri, antichi tessuti africani ed oceanici e oggetti di sciamani nepalesi..Alcuni degli oggetti protagonisti delle azioni virtuali saranno fisicamente presenti, compreso un dipinto seicentesco che raffigura, anzi evoca, la Madonna protettrice dei marinai, perché anche noi occidentali abbiamo usato le immagini per parlare di ciò che siamo…e sarebbe utile non disperde quel patrimonio di memoria! Tutto sarà con/fuso, come la vita. A chi verrà a trovarci l’onere e l’onore di scegliere come orientarsi, perché come si dice in mare, senza fare un punto nave non si può fare un punto rotta…

We think images, not words ... this ancient truth is increasingly supported by the progress of neuroscience. This means that the rock carvings and Basquiat, traditional African or oceanic textiles and ancient pictorial art, the Sumerian seals and Lucio Fontana speak the same language, use a metaphorical alphabet of signs that has been common to humanity for at least forty thousand years ... It is the language that human beings speak to narrate what they are more than what they have ... to investigate the Mystery of life, try to understand it or at least leave a trace ..

This is why in this exhibition you will find Sumerian seals of five thousand years ago, multimedia animations, textiles from different parts of the world, antique paintings ... fused together.

The space is suggestive, the place even more ... Laigueglia is one of the rare pearls of western Liguria: beautiful, poignant and discreet .. Still very Ligurian (tribal ...) and together open to the global world ... Thor Heyerdahl loved her deeply and who knows what his Kon Tiki sooner or later does not reappear on the horizon ...

I sigilli Sumeri sono piccoli cilindri in pietra incisa, abitualmente rollati su argilla. Nascono come dispositivi amministrativi e hanno circa cinquemila anni. Sono considerati all’origine del nostro linguaggio, ed esprimono certamente un alfabeto di segni con forte valore metaforico. Siamo convinti che l’armonia di ciò che è umano coinvolga ogni senso, e non solo la vista come in questo caso: grazie a Marco Ceccotto abbiamo quindi provato a sonorizzarli..e qualche anno fa abbiamo presentato il risultato al British Museum. Kuba texites, R.d.Congo, XX secolo These particular tissues were used as elements of formal wear for the Royal Family and the Dignitaries, and worn during the rituals Dances.

Raffia was dyed with mineral and vegetable colors following a tradition of symbolic choices.

For the embroideries and applications the colors were those of the earth: yellow ocher symbol of transformation, rust symbol of blood and sun, brown, black symbol of water, vegetation, night.

The alternation of black and white is that of the day or night, the full moon or dark nights. The only combination of colors allows to express a substantial amount of information to those who started in this type of reading. In fact, what appears to us as an abstract decoration and 'actually part of an alphabet of symbols where nothing' left to chance: note also the presence of mathematical and astronomical elements: the alternation of rhombus shapes and the presence of embroidered holes refer to star charts. Our inability to read a so different and complex language has led us to consider them as simple crafts.

Even Shoowa tissues are in Kuba culture made of the same material, were woven, dyed and then shaved with a special knife that gave the object a velvety effect: hence the name "Kasai velvets." They were used as trading currencies and elements of wedding or funeral objects.

Questi particolari tessuti venivano usati come elementi di abiti da cerimonia destinati alla Famiglia Reale e a i Dignitari, e indossati in occasione delle Danze Rituali .

La rafia era tinta con colori minerali e vegetali seguendo una tradizione di scelte simboliche. Per i ricami e le applicazioni i colori erano quelli della terra: ocra gialla simbolo di trasformazione, ruggine simbolo del sangue e del sole, marrone, nero simbolo di acqua, vegetazione, notte. L'alternanza del bianco e del nero è quella del giorno e della notte, delle notti di luna piena o buie. La sola combinazione dei colori permette di esprimere un considerevole numero di informazioni a chi è iniziato a questo tipo di lettura. Infatti ciò che a noi appare come decorazione astratta e' in realtà parte di un alfabeto di simboli dove nulla e' lasciato al caso: si noti anche la presenza di elementi matematici e astronomici: l'alternanza di figure romboidali e la presenza di fori ricamanti rimanda a mappe stellari. La nostra incapacità a leggere un linguaggio cosi diverso e complesso ci ha portato a considerarli come semplici oggetti artigianali.

Un ulteriore elemento di interesse e' l'assonanza con i linguaggi dell'arte del Novecento: essi furono elemento di ispirazione per artisti come Paul Klee , Giuseppe Capogrossi e altri.

L'elemento comune e' considerare l'arte come l'occasione per evocare stati di coscienza e non come strumento di descrizione della realtà.

Anche i tessuti Shoowa appartengono alla cultura Kuba : realizzati con lo stesso materiale, venivano intrecciati, tinti e poi rasati con un particolare coltello che dava all’oggetto un effetto vellutato : da qui il nome “velluti del Kasai” . Venivano usati come monete di scambio ed elementi di corredi nuziali o funerari.

Tapa è il termine utilizzato per chiamare un tessuto tipico del Pacifico, delle isole Hawaii e Figi, chiamato Ngatu nelle isole Tonga.

Questo tessuto viene creato a partire dalla corteccia del gelso da carta che, se messa in acqua, diventa morbida e biancastra, battuta con un mazzuolo di legno si dilata fino a diventare un foglio sottile. Se la corteccia è di grosse dimensioni si possono ottenere fogli che vanno oltre il metro, con la sovrapposizione incrociata di più fogli e relative battiture si ottiene un tessuto non tessuto che può essere tagliato e cucito per realizzare capi di abbigliamento, vele per imbarcazioni, elementi rituali di arredo Tapa is the term used to call a fabric typical of the Pacific, the islands of Hawaii and Fiji, called Ngatu in the Tonga Islands.

When healing words : ETHIOPIAN HEALING SCROLLS .

Religious archetypes chase through time and places . sacred images dear to Pagans home found among Christians , Saints and Christian Martyrs are venerated in Cuban Santeria .

Some strong figures - Mother , the Unborn , the Angel come from the depths of time and take shape in different realities .

This is the context of Ethiopian healing scrolls : they are talismans , and they can only make a D채bt채ras , which is Cleric of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church but may be also healer and shaman . Badly considered

by Catholics , Jews and Emperors these talismans were used and venerated by the 2nd century BC until the nineteenth .

Some anthropologists say that those who worshiped them were ignorant.

I prefer to say that they were unpretentious people , definitely " illiterate " but not necessarily less deep .

The healing scrolls are written in the ancient Ge'ez language , an indigenous Semitic language that is 2,000 years old ; Today 's religious language but at the time of ' Axumite empire was the common language .

The t채ls채m served to eliminate a disease and hunt evil spirits and demons from a sick person , in the context of a larger ritual that involved the prescription of traditional herbal medicines and other natural elements associated with a " pathos" that we find in psychotherapeutic every nursing activities in any part of the world and at all times .

The relationship between the sacrificed animal and the person to whom the talisman was intended right from the beginning the preparation of the object : the patient was rubbed with a live animal then rubbed with its blood and guts ; the same moment of sacrifice was essential , because the sufferings of the person were moving on the animal's skin which then was washed , dried , impregnated with ointments to make it soft and robust and finally cut and sewn in order to become a roll . He began at that point the realization of images and words , but perhaps it would be more correct to speak of the written word and painted word , if we want to take back the origin of " word" , which refers to the narration and teaching concepts .

Even the backgrounds and frames , often double, served to focus attention on the talismanic figure , showing an instinctive media wisdom ; we find a strong symbolism , on which dominates the Net of Solomon . also referred to as ⌘ , it is a gasped square corners and is surprisingly present in the esoteric tradition in times and places far apart .

The talismanic images are seen by the demon through the eyes of their human victim. The eyes of the talismanic figures on the scroll reflect the gaze of the afflicted until the demon flees. This act of reciprocal viewing is key to the healing act, as invoking the names of god alone will not cause the retreat of demons. To hasten the effectiveness of the gaze, many figures are reduced to faces or eyes. These singular eyes do not represent actual organs, but symbolize their protective powers.” ( 3 ) It seems interesting to note this set of factors : images that speak , matter that gives life in gesture, a therapeutic efficacy temporally defined that gives living and earthly substance to the talisman. But the original thing is certainly the tasks assigned to the words , which are not limited to narrate but act , are the essential force to the whole rite.

We can really say that they are words that heal.

Quando le parole guariscono : I ROTOLI TALISMANICI ETIOPI .

Gli archetipi religiosi si inseguono nel tempo e nei luoghi.

Immagini sacre care a popoli “Pagani “ trovarono casa tra i Cristiani, Santi e Martiri Cristiani vengono venerati nella Santeria Cubana. Alcune figure forti - La Madre, il Nascituro, l’Angelo arrivano dalla profondità del tempo e prendono forma in realtà diverse.

Ecco il contesto dei rotoli di guarigione Etiopi: sono talismani, e li può realizzare solo un Däbtäras, che è Chierico della Chiesa Copta Ortodossa ma anche guaritore e in qualche modo Sciamano. Mal visti da Cattolici, Ebrei e Imperatori questi talismani sono stati usati e venerati dal 2 secolo a.C. fino al XIX. Alcuni antropologi dicono che chi li venerava era ignorante.

Preferisco dire che erano persone semplici, sicuramente “analfabeti” ma non necessariamente meno profondi.

I rotoli di guarigione sono scritti nell’antica lingua Ge'ez , una lingua semitica indigena che ha 2.000 anni ; oggi è linguaggio religioso ma al tempo dell’ impero Axumita era la lingua comune.

I tälsäm servivano per eliminare una malattia e cacciare spiriti maligni e demoni da una persona malata, nel contesto di un rito più ampio che prevedeva la somministrazione di farmaci tradizionali a base di erbe e altri elementi naturali associati ad un “pathos “ psicoterapeutico che troviamo in ogni attività di cura, in ogni parte del mondo e in ogni tempo.

Chi si sentirebbe di dire che la stessa persona vista fuori da un centro clinico e priva di camice o tuta operatoria genera lo stesso sentimento di fiducia nel potenziale paziente?

I rotoli di guarigione Etiopi hanno una serie interessante di caratteristiche.

La materia.

Questi talismani sono pergamene, venivano fatti cioè con pelle animale ( prevalentemente agnello ). Nelle regioni di lingua Aramaica il rotolo è chiamato yä Ketab Branna che letteralmente significa “scritto sulla pelle”.

La relazione tra l’animale sacrificato e la persona a cui il talismano era destinato iniziava fin dalla preparazione del manufatto: il paziente veniva strofinato con l’animale ancora vivo, soffregato con il suo sangue e le sue viscere ; l’attimo stesso del sacrifico era fondamentale, perché le sofferenze della persona si trasferivano sulla pelle dell’animale che a quel punto veniva lavata, essiccata, impregnata di unguenti per renderla morbida e robusta e finalmente tagliata e cucita al fine di diventare un rotolo. Iniziava a quel punto la realizzazione di immagini e parole, ma forse sarebbe più corretto parlare di parola scritta e parola dipinta, se vogliamo riappropriarci dell’origine di “parola”, che rimanda ai concetti di narrazione e insegnamento.

Sul piano grafico bisogna innanzitutto dire che le immagini non avevano la funzione di raffigurare con precisione il soggetto evocato, ma di rivelare misteri e migliorare l'efficacia delle preghiere scritte, nonostante le figure fossero ispirate a codici miniati e dipinti murali .

Evocavano figure della tradizione Cristiana: Santi, Profeti e sopratutto Angeli (nota 1 ) ; questi ultimi potevano essere rappresentati frontalmente come Arcangeli custodi con spade sguainate , o “sintetizzati “ in un viso circondato da otto ali stilizzate.

Come tutti i manoscritti Ge’ez venivano scritti con inchiostro nero ricavato dal carbone, mentre i nomi delle delle Figure Sacre erano scritti con inchiostro rosso .

Questi due colori erano sufficienti per garantire l’efficacia terapeutica del rotolo.

Il nome della persona per cui il talismano era realizzato veniva aggiunto alla fine del percorso rituale, e scritto in rosso. Gli inchiostri erano a volte impastati con piante ritualmente potenti o sangue sacrificale per aumentare la loro efficacia.

Anche le campiture e le cornici, spesso doppie, servivano a focalizzare l’attenzione sulla figura talismanica, a dimostrazione di una istintiva sapienza mediatica; riscontriamo una forte simbologia, su cui domina il nodo di Salomone. Indicato anche come ⌘ : è un quadrato ansato sugli angoli ed è sorprendentemente presente nella tradizione esoterica in tempi e luoghi distanti tra loro.

Ben presente la stella a otto punte: nei suoi incastri venivano catturati e trattenuti i demoni che affliggevano il paziente.

Arrotolati e riposti in un piccolo contenitore cilindrico in pelle, cucito interamente o con un lato aperto, veniva portati dal paziente appesi al collo o su una spalla.

Normalmente la loro lunghezza corrispondeva all’altezza della persona a cui erano destinate: quando erano più lunghi avevano la funzione di proteggere una intera

famiglia o una abitazione, ed erano posti all’esterno della stessa su un muro o su un palo. I talismani personali, dopo l’uso, venivano riposti in un tronco per servire in caso di altre malattie o problemi, ma raramente venivano conservati per più di qualche anno. Più abitualmente venivano sepolti l’ultima notte dell’anno.

La preghiera scritta occupava la parte più significativa ed estesa del rotolo: la tradizione magico/salvifica Etiope si basa sulla invocazione dei nomi segreti di Dio. E’ attraverso la conoscenza e la forte, cantilenata e crescente dichiarazione dei molti nomi di Dio che il Däbtäras costringeva l’Altissimo ad aiutare il suo protetto.

Come funziona Tutto si fonda, come dice Kristen Windmuller-Luna ( Department of Art and Archaeology, Princeton University) sul “ potere dell’occhio “ che può causare il bene e il male . “ Nell'arte talismanica etiopica , gli occhi sono i condotti attraverso i quali i demoni che causano malattie lasciano il corpo . Durante il processo di guarigione , le pergamene sono srotolate , i sacerdoti recitano le preghiere , l'acqua santa è aspersa, e si espongono le immagini talismaniche . Esse sono viste dal demone attraverso gli occhi dei sua vittima umana . Gli occhi delle figure talismaniche sul rotolo riflettono lo sguardo degli afflitti fino a quando il demone fugge . Questo atto di visione reciproca è la chiave per l'atto di guarigione , la sola invocazione del nome di Dio causerà il ritiro dei demoni . Per accelerare l'efficacia dello sguardo , molte figure sono rappresentate solo con facce o occhi : essi non rappresentano gli organi reali, , ma simboleggiano i loro poteri protettivi. “ Mi sembra interessante notare questo insieme di fattori: immagini che parlano, materia che si vivifica nel gesto, una efficacia terapeutica temporalmente definita che dà concretezza vivente e terrena al talismano. Ma la cosa originale è certamente la funzione attribuita alle parole, che non si limitano a narrare ma agiscono, sono la forza indispensabile all’intero rito.

Si può davvero dire che sono parole che curano.

E’ ben nota la figura di ‫מלאך‬, mal’akh, nella tradizione Giudaico / Cristiana, così come per l'Islām l'esistenza degli Angeli (in arabo: ‫مالك‬, malāk, pl. ‫مال ئكة‬, malāʾika[59]) è un atto di fede e chi nega la loro esistenza è considerato un “infedele”.
