BIOGRAFIA Si laurea con lode presso il Dipartimento di Architettura “Luigi Vanvitelli” di Aversa, discutendo una tesi di laurea in “Progettazione architettonica” con relatore il Prof. Arch. Cherubino Gambardella, dal titolo “NOTICE FROM [R] NAPOLI”, volta a ipotizzare il possibile recupero dell’ ex altoforno Italsider di Bagnoli. Parallelamente al percorso di studi universitario conduce una personale formazione architettonica attraverso la partecipazione a concorsi di progettazione. Questo gli permette di sperimentare diversi approcci progettuali e comunicativi, incrementando il personale bagaglio formativo. Non trascura la progettazione per quanto concerne elementi d’arredo,realizzando una serie di prodotti che si pongono a metà tra l’industria e la tradizione artigianale. _____________________ BIOGRAPHY He graduated with first-class honours at the “Luigi Vanvitelli” Architecture’s department in Aversa (CE), presenting a thesis in “Architectural design” entitled “NOTICE FROM [SUPER] NAPOLI”, with Prof. Arch. Cherubino Gambardella as mentor, that hypothesizes the possible recovery of the Ex Italsider’s blast furnace of Bagnoli, a Naples’ quarter. Simultaneously to the studies, he leads a personal architectural research through the participation in several architecture competitions. This allows him to experience different planning and communicative methods, increasing his education. He does not ignore the furniture design, creating various products that are halfway between the industry and craftsmanship tradition.

THINKING

I think it is wrong to make a difference beetwen “architecture” and “interior architecture”. To me, just “Architecture” does exist, that is external or internal in respect of something: a square is the exterior of a domestic space, but it is also the interior of a city. The domestic space is the interior of a house, but it is also the exterior of a man.

AFTER THE FIRE

Il progetto è concepito secondo un’asse principale nord-sud che ripercorre l’impianto precedente e definisce 2 campate principali: lato monte e lato mare. Lato monte, qui si concentrano tutte le attività che necessitano di un perimetro controllato: piccoli depositi, servizi, locali tecnici. Lato mare, al contrario, la campata è completamente libera e flessibile. In questo spazio si diramano gli spazi espositivi principali con altezze doppie e triple, funzionali agli allestimenti museali. Le sale espositive diventano gallerie che attraversano l’edificio da Nord a Sud.

The Project develop by a Nord-Sud Axis wich resume the previus system and define two truss: the Mountain side in wich are concentrated all the activities that need of a checked perimeter (small deposits, local tecnicians), and the Sea side, on the contrary, the truss is completely free and flexible. In this space develops the principal exhibition halls with doubles and triple heights, functional to the museal exhibit. The exhibition halls become gallery that crossing the building from Nord to South.

Concorso per il nuovo Science Centre di Bagnoli, Napoli - Italia Competition for the new Bagnoli’s Science Centre, Naples - Italy Menzione speciale / Special mention PIENO/VUOTO

FULLNESS/EMPTINESS

L’incendiato museo, con il suo volume a capriate, dà la forma al progetto. Il nuovo Science Centre è ricavato dunque per sovrapposizione ideale al vecchio museo. Il pieno che sovrasta il vuoto lasciato dall’incendio; vuoto che inoltre assume un carattere significativo in termini percettivi, garantendo al fruitore la piena visuale sul golfo di Bagnoli che affaccia su Nisida e che guarda a Pozzuoli. Due progetti in uno: il Museo ed il Parco della Memoria, come testimonianza dell’accaduto.

The burned museum, for its truss roof, gives shape to the project. So The new Science Centre ideally overlaps the old museum. The fullness that overlaps the emptiness left by the fire; the emptiness that also acquires a meaningful perceptual character, guaranteeing to the visitors a full view on Bagnoli’s gulf, that overlooks Nisida and Pozzuoli. Two projects in one: the Museum and the Memory’s Park, as testimony to the event.

WOODEN MONOLITH

L’idea di progetto nasce dalla precisa volontà di mantenere l’attuale ingombro del capannone, incrementando di un livello lo sviluppo in altezza dell’attuale impianto. Il volume è suddivisibile in due blocchi principali: blocco anteriore con la hall, uffici e food area; il blocco posteriore con l’area wellness ed acqua zone. Un monolite costituito da listelli lignei, circondato da alberi e da un giardino sensoriale, accoglie gli ospiti garantendo loro relax e riservatezza.

The project idea arises from the precise intention to maintain the current dimensions of the warehouse, increasing of one level the development in height of the current plant. The volume is divided in two main blocks : the forward block with the hall, offices and food area; the posterior block with the wellness and water zone A monolith made up of wooden slats, surrounded by trees and by a sensorial garden, receives guests, guaranteeing them relax and privacy .

THE FORUM AND THE ARENA

L’immediata vicinanza agli scavi archeologici ha suggerito la scelta di un impianto semi ipogeo che rispetti la rilevanza storica non solo dell’intera area archeologica ma anche del vicino anfiteatro. Vi si accede attraverso una rampa pedonale che confluisce nell’arena, spazio esterno d’accoglienza adibito a più funzioni come esibizioni temporanee, seminari, eventi musicali. Proseguendo attraverso un corridoio si entra nell’area museale: un sistema ippodameo di padiglioni che circondano il foro.

The close proximity to the archaeological area has suggested the choise of a semi-hypogeum system, that respects the historical importance of the near amphitheatre and of the whole site. It is accessible through a pedestrian ramp that flows into the arena, an external welcome area used as multifunctional area, where temporary exhibitions, seminaries, music events take place. It is possibile to achieve the Museum entry proceeding through a hallway: an Hyppodamus system of pavilions that surround the forum.

AS ROCKS

Il progetto elaborato scaturisce dalla volontà di una ricerca spaziale circa l’ambiente domestico. Lo spazio interno modella l’immagine finale dei due edifici residenziali. L’unità tipologica è suddivisibile in due macro spazi funzionali: spazi privati e spazi condivisi. I primi consistono di cellule pure, leggibili chiaramente all’interno dell’ambiente, che delimitano lo spazio risultante condiviso. Un ambiente interno flessibile e dinamico; due massi di roccia che emergono dal terreno in declivio.

The project develops from the will of a spatial research about domestic environment. The interior area shapes the final image of both residential buildings. The typological unit is divided into two main functional areas: private areas and shared areas. The first consists of pure cells, clearly visible in the environment that surrounds the resulting shared area. A flexible and dynamic interior environment; two rocks that emerge from the sloping ground.

HAMMARÖ2

Oggetto del concorso era la richiesta abitativa nella piccola comunità di Hammaro e la conseguente riqualifica dell’intero insediamento. L’approccio è volto ad immaginare un’idea di vivibilità sostenibile. L’idea è ipotizzare una serie di punti Hub, nodi di interscambio veicolare dove è possibile lasciare l’auto e spostarsi con bus elettrici. I nuovi edifici (residenze, servizi pubblici) si annettono, come protesi, al dislocato sistema esistente e collegando quest’ultimo al lago attraverso un parco.

The object of the competition was the residential request in the small community of Hammaro and the conseguent replanning of the whole village. The approach is meant to imagine an idea of sustainable livability. The main idea concerns the hypothesis of a series of Hub points, some vehicular interchange hubs, where it is possible to leave the car and start moving by electrical buses. The new buildings (residences, public services), like prothesis, add to the already existent dislocated system, connecting it to the lake through a park.

LIGHT AND SHADOW

Il NoMC2 ha come matrice di progetto il rapporto tra luce e ombra. Contrasto volto a rappresentare scenograficamente cosa sia la mafia: una fiera codarda che si nasconde, lontana dalla luce, innegabilmente più forte. Morfologicamente il progetto è un parallelepipedo rettangolare schiacciato, ipogeo e traforato da una corte centrale . Le funzioni (museo, auditorium,bar, laboratorio creativo) si sviluppano lungo il perimetro. Un ambiente scuro e in ombra, oltrepassato dalla luce in determinati punti. La paura e poi il sollievo.

The NoMC2 project matrix is the relationship between the light and the shadow. A contrast that is meant to represent scenically what the mafia is: a coward wild beast that hides itself, staying away from the light, undeniably stronger. Morphologically the building is a rectangular parallelepiped, a sort of hypogeous and it is pierced by a central patio. The functions (museum, auditorium, cafè, creative lab) develops along the perimeter. A shady and dark environment crossed by the light in some points. The fear and then the relief.

IROPE

Irope è una comoda seduta per spazi living, sulla quale sedersi e trascorrere del tempo con amici o leggere un libro. E’ il risultato dell’unione tra la precisione industriale e la maestria artigianale. Due lamiere di ferro tagliate a laser e montate artigianalmente. Le capacità meccaniche della corda permettono di ancorare la stessa con semplici nodi, definendo tre diversi piani: seduta, schienale, portaoggetti. Questi permettono inoltre una divertente funzione: incastrare riviste o piccoli libri.

Irope is a comfortable chair for living rooms, where one can sit and enjoy some time with friends or read a book. It is the result of the union between the industrial precision and the craftsmanship. Two metal sheet cut by laser and then put together. The rope’s mechanical skills allow it to anchor itself with simple knots, defining three different planes: seat, seatback, storage. Moreover they permit a nice function: to insert magazines or small books between the ropes.

IROPE

Slim chair nasce dallo stesso concetto di Irope per quanto concerne lâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;uso dei materiali adottati: ferro e corda. Differentemente dalla prima, Ă¨ un oggetto prettamente artigianale. Si offre come semplice seduta da tavola in spazi living. Pensata in due varianti nel trattamento del telaio: 1. telaio verniciato nero; 2. telaio di ferro lasciato a vista.

Slim chair was born from the same concept developped for Irope, especially about the use of the materials: iron and rope. Differently from the first, this is an object essentially handcrafted. It presents itself as a simple chair for table in living rooms. Designed in two different model of structureâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s treatment: 1. black varnished structure; 2. unrefined iron structure.

SLIM TABLE

Slim table è un tavolo con piano d’appoggio di forma circolare. Ricavato dal taglio laser di una lamiera, i piedi sono il negativo del piano d’appoggio: il suo disegno permette una lavorazione con zero materiale di scarto. Il risultato è un oggetto dalla linea sottile ed elegante. Ideato nella variante di colore nero opaco.

Slim table is a table with a round support plane. Obtained from the laser cutting of a metal sheet, the base is the negative of the support plane: its design permits a production without waste. The result is an object with a thin and elegant line. Ideated in the matte black varnished variant.
