From activities right on your doorstep to exploring the wild and wonderful Peak District, you can experience amazing things by volunteering. Our Give it a Go volunteering days are the best way to give volunteering a try. Each activity is designed as a taster day, enabling you to try something new and gain new skills. They are perfect with friends and a great way to meet like-minded people. All activities including transport are free. For all our volunteering, no experience is required. Bring warm, waterproof clothing as the wind can be quite strong by the coast and wear sturdy shoes. The ticket cost covers transport costs. SUBS will pay your entrance into the reserve. Join us as we head to Bempton Cliffs. In spring 250,000 seabirds nest on these cliffs. There'll be Guillemots, Razorbills, Gannets and hopefully a Puffin or two! We will be taking a minibus to the reserve and will stop for some fish and chips on the way home.

The Abbey was founded in 1132 by 13 Benedictine monks from St Mary’s in York seeking to live a simple lifestyle. There are miles of footpaths and trails to explore in this beautiful landscape, where you can take in the breath-taking views of the Abbey. Castle Howard is Yorkshire’s finest historical house which is located just outside of the city of York. The 18th century residence is set within 1,000 acres of breath-taking landscape. Enjoy stunning architecture and stately rooms such as the Great Hall, the music room, dressing room and the grand staircase. You can also stroll around the idyllic gardens and woodlands. After we’ve explored the castle we will head to York. York has attractions including the stunning York Minster, York Castle, the National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre. Cambridge is famous for its University, which is one of the oldest in the world. Take a walk around the backs of the colleges for some stunning views – especially looking towards King’s College Chapel from across the river. Coach departs the Farm Shop at 5pm Chatsworth is a traditional English stately home and a must-see attraction when you are in Sheffield! More than 30 magnificent rooms display one of Europe's finest private collections of treasures. The 105-acre garden is beautiful, containing a huge maze, rare plants, fountains and the famous Duke's Cascade. You can bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds, or enjoy refreshments in the Courtyard.

Sheffield Students’ Union’s Give it a Go programme is packed full of activities, events and experiences. Every year thousands of students take part in Give it a Go, and you should too!
BUYING TICKETS
Tickets for all activities are on sale at the Students’ Union Box Office (tel: 0114 222 8777) and are available to buy onlinesheffieldsu.com/ events Tickets MUST be purchased in ADVANCE and your Student, SIC or Gold Life Membership uCard must be shown at the Box Office in order to buy your tickets. Demand for Give it a Go is massive and events can sell out very quickly, so please buy your ticket early to avoid disappointment and please note that you cannot turn up and pay on the door! Unfortunately, all tickets purchased are nonrefundable and cannot be exchanged or transferred. If the event organiser cancels the activity, a full refund will be given from the Students’ Union Box Office. Participants will be informed of cancellations via facebook and twitter, and email where possible.

Unsure of where to go? Go to the map on page 3 of the programme. If the location reads ‘The Edge’ in Endcliffe, ‘The Ridge’ in Ranmoor or ‘The SU’ (Students’ Union), just meet outside the Reception. Goodwin Sports centre is located on Northumberland Road (on your way up to Crookes)
WOMEN’S MINIBUS
For evening activities in the Students’ Union, the Women’s Minibus will take you home to your door anywhere within a 2-mile radius of the Union. The service runs at half past every hour and tickets cost just £1.50 from the Students’ Union Box Office.
WOMEN'S COMMITTEE
The Women's Campaign at the University of Sheffield Students' Union consists of the Women's Officer and the Women's Committee. Together they work to make your student experience free from discrimination and sexism, alongside the other Liberation Campaigns. Look out for the Women’s Committee logo to see events for self-defining women.
