Community Outreach Efforts • 159 independent fundraisers completed in 2017 • Over $40,000 raised on Giving Tuesday • Almost $200,000 received from mail appeals • New relationships with media partners
Humane Education • Held 286 education events in 2017 • Reached over 4,600 people! • Camp Pawprint hosted nearly 400 students in 2017
Community Dog Days & Pets for Life • DCHS held two Community Dog Days events in 2017 • DCHS recently selected to be a Pets for Life Mentorship Partner • A program of the Humane Society of the United States • Supporting our community and providing pet owner support services at the core of our mission of “Helping People Help Animals”
Wildlife Program • Renamed “Dane County Humane Society’s Wildlife Center” • Completed remodeling efforts to facility in early 2017 • Accepted 4,097 wild patients in 2017 • Approximately a 25% increase from 2016

Equine Program • Equine and Livestock Barn housed 6 horses in 2017 • Chicken coop housed a duck, a goose and chickens

Dog Transport Program • Received bi-weekly dog transports from Greater Birmingham Humane Society • 561 dogs received in 2017
• Began partnering with ASPCA for bi-weekly dog transports • 396 dogs received in 2017
Animal Medical Services Remodel • Made possible through grant funding from PetSmart Charities & ASPCA • Increased dog recovery units from 5 to 18 • Added a 2nd prep table and a 3rd surgery table
UW Shelter Medicine Program Partnership • DCHS provides training to veterinary students, interns and residents • DCHS hosts student ambulatory program • DCHS continues to host Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Interns • Residents spend 22 weeks at DCHS for clinical training
Felines In Treatment Program • Treats cats with ringworm • Treated 78 cats in 2017 • 52 from other shelters
Admitting • Handles intake exams for every animal coming into the shelter • Examined 37 different animal species in 2017 • Administered vaccinations, flea & tick preventatives and dewormers to incoming animals
Animal Care • Going far beyond the basics of care
Canine Behavior Team • Meets the needs of our dog population • Provides guidance for staff & volunteers to meet each dog’s individual needs
Foster Team • 541 animals placed in foster care in 2017 • Increased from 475 in 2016
Reception • Handles animal intakes, redemptions and various other customer service tasks • Accepted 5,087 animals in 2017 • Compared to 4,940 in 2016, a 3% increase
• Reunited 751 lost pets in 2017 • DCHS RTO rate for lost dogs = 71% • More than double the national average of 35%!

Volunteers • Over 1,400 volunteers contributed more than 115,000 service hours in 2017! • THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS! • Revised canine volunteer program in 2017
Adoptions • Adopters Welcome philosophy • Streamlined adoption process in 2017 • Joined ASPCA’s #FindYourFido promotion last October • $25 reduction in dog adoption fees • ½ price microchips for all dog adoptions • Resulted in 118 dog adoptions, compared to 101 in 2016, a 17% increase
• Total of 3,432 animals adopted in 2017! • Compared to 3,200 adoptions in 2016, a 7% increase
