RUMIN

Two unknown Souls Leads to a Successful Business

&

FARHA

A story of Farha and Rumin two unknown souls which was never thought off in dreams of a dream. A 22 year engineer, Nasrumminallah "Rumin" who had no plans for entrepreneurship or any kind of business, who had no business back ground, not even a distant relative had done any kind of business got into a situation where destiny impelled him and hard work compelled him towards success however he says "My last breath will judge my success, for me success yet come." After completion of engineering degree from Patna he went back to his native place Alta, a small village in Kishanganj district of Bihar. There he got a teaching job in an engineering college and was happy with his parents. His parents did not want to over burden their expectation to their single son but life takes its own course and one day he met with a major accident which had almost taken his life and that day his parents decided not to keep him there for good. In 2003 he arrived in Delhi with no objective in his mind. Like his other engineering friends, rstly he decided to take up a job but after few months he changed his mind and joined IMT Ghaziabad for a Global MBA. He went to University of Applied Science, Mainz, Germany and London South Bank University, London for M.Sc Degrees. This all happened with no intention. While he was in Germany he had to go through severe kidney treatments which made him very weak and pushed him into a grave nancial crisis. The rst shock he got in his life when he was in the UK. At one point of time, the university accommodation was over, private accommodation had to be arranged, the visa had to be renewed but he was left with only 60 Pounds i.e. INR 4800 that time. Rumin says "That was the terrible day of my life." He took a long walk on a street and kept walking till he lost all his way. He sat down under a tree and nally brooked. He asked himself "what is he after?" He could not sleep for the entire night. He was not afraid of having no money, what he was afraid of was the thought that how useless he is. He decided to ght back and get everything xed in place. He started with basic jobs with few British companies but loads of hurdles came to his way. He worked in different organizations on very basic positions and got the basic concepts of businesses. After a year, he came back to Delhi with his degree in his hand and a UK work permit for another three years under Highly Skilled Migrated People (HSMP) visa scheme. He decided to stay back in his mother land "INDIA" and work for its own people. He joined Modi's Art Karat as senior manager and within two year he was the Vice President of the group looking after their overseas business including the UK, Singapore and Australia. He learnt a lot by Mr. Kamal Modi, Chairman of the group. During his services he met Farha. They married in the UK and planned to continue to work for Art Karat for rest of their life. Here he says, "Man Proposes, God Disposes."

"The Management decided to make shift in our department and engaged Farha in Indian operations." That means that Farha had to stay back in the head ofce and Rumin had to travel all around. Intensive 7-8 months travel away from the family started making life difcult. So they decided to start their own venture. But what to start and where to start with limited resources was never been an easy decision especially when Rumin was still working with the company. One ne evening of Jan 2013, Farha was discussing her monthly spending in a salon and Rumin was shocked hearing it. Then he asked "is it same for most of the salon visitors?" Farha said "yes it is". That's where the whole concept of the RU's Beauty Care Unisex salon came from. Both of them agreed upon providing solutions to the ladies where they would spend less and get high standard of services. The rst Salon they acquired in 15 March 2013. By the end of 2015 they had 7 successful salons in Delhi. In 2016, Rumin decided to get into the manufacturing of professional cosmetic products under the brand named AARGANIA. Within 3 years, the company has established it name in 15 states of the country with 200 employee strength. The RU's Beauty Care has projected a turnover of 100cr by the end of 2020 nancial year with 100 percent penetration in the country". Rumin says... "My biggest strength is my employee and my biggest satisfaction is their wellbeing." Rumin and Farha both agree upon one thing "If you work hard with passion you will denitely succeed but it is your destiny who will decide where you will succeed."

Life presents a situation where you have to burn all the ships.

“SOMEWHERE DEEP INSIDE EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT KIND OF PERSON HE or SHE IS CREATED TO BE."

Think like a person you intend to become and do the things you want to do in life. Effort means the end of failure. One must not forget that the sweetness of joy cannot be enjoyed without tasting the Bitterness of sorrow. Today I (Sherry) when recall my memories of my life, how can I forget someone who had been through thick and thin none but only my mother "I LOVE YOU MAA". She always is a spiritual guide, mentor and my buddy to me. My real life story will stimulate your will power, focus, determination and hunger to achieve goals. Childhood: My Father highly qualied electrical engineer and intelligent in my entire family. He served as an Executive engineer in a Government department of New Delhi was earning 6 gures per month. Papa took bribe to get the work done for people and that extra income made him indulge into bad activities like, drinking alcohol in quantity, gambling and committee system of picking high tickets size and unable to retur n timely. Gradually, my family was scattered and all our savings, properties, bank balance was over and we were shelter less for 3 years and I was rusticated from the convent school due to non-payment of my school fees in class 11th. That was shameful period for me and I felt very low that day because I wanted to continue my study. I couldn't tell my school mates and friends the real reason of not coming to school. No one was there to advise or help and pay my school fees, not even my lthy rich relatives. I was de-motivated. Those 3 years I was away from family as I was staying with my other two aunties on alternate month and I used to cry a lot because I missed my family love and affection. To Survive I just started doing labor work in a factory for Rs. 50.00 per day means Rs. 1500.00 per month. I used to cry inside myself and hit the hammer hard on iron as I always wanted to study. My dear friend Konark Duggal with whom I shared the desk since class 1st advisedme to join National open schooling for further study and on his suggestion, I visited national open school in Kailash Colony to take admission with my hard earned saving of Rs.2500.00 and completed my 12th in rst division with distinction in English & Economics.

Occasionally I used to meet my mother who was staying at my grandmother's house. "My mother is devotee of Sikh religion. She used to go Sikh temple (Gurudwara) late evening, attends the chanting of Sikh prayers (Kirtan) from holy book – "Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji" considered as our present Guru and stays back to perform services (Sewa) and comes the next day early morning attending the morning rituals for so many years. One ne day, I was missing my mom so I went to Sikh temple where my mother performs her services for our Guru. She read my eyes Haanji puttar,Bhuk lagi hai? Nahi mamma!! Sachi sachi das de,(In Punjabi) Haanji mamma!! Chal niche chal main tujhe *langar daal deti hu, Mamma started crying and wiped her tears while serving food, I said mamma, Aap ro re ho? Aap ro re ho mamma? Nahi beta,ye to khushi ke aansu hai, Babaji ne humara bahut bada kasht chote se mein kaat diya hai. Mamma lekin bhagwan hume itne kasht de kyu re hai, maine aise kya kiya hai? Beta,ye humare pichle karam hote ha kai baari, sab yahi isi duniya mein kaat kar jana hota hai. Par meri ek baat zarur yaad rakhna, Har raat ke baad sawwera zarur hota hai aur maa ka aashirwaad kabhi khali nai jata. Tujhe aaj dil se aashirwaad de ri hu beta, Mera beta ek din bada ho kar chamakta sitara banega." (As conversation took place In Hindi & Punjabi) I did around 3 jobs during that time to feed myself and after those 3 years me, mom and papa started living together in an apartment near west Delhi due to lot of serious and hard efforts by mom and relatives. I also did a job in Transport Company as a manager with a salary of Rs. 3000.00 per month. There I handled account and managed bus routes of around 50 buses and 8-9 breaks down were normal everyday so I had to be there till late night to make sure buses catching their route of schools next day without failure. I worked there like a servant rather an employee for the owners, managing their kids, bringing their home articles, paying all bills etc. I told my mom I don't want to do this job. I feel demean every day but I am forced to do this job as father is not working anywhere and this job is only the source of money to survive then one day my mom came up with an idea. She said that I have great knowledge about transport business so buy a taxi and become a taxi driver as that was the only feasible career option that time. My dreams were big but there was always question in mind how will it be possible? Then suddenly something enlightened in mind and forced

me to take chance because lavish childhood was not able to compromise with shoe-string budget. Call centre to banker I took debt of 7,000 rupees from a friend to join call centre training program and got my rst job. In my rst corporate job, I joined as a Tele calling executive selling American express paid credit cards. First 3 months were real tough; I was unable to understand how people are selling cards on phone. "Life presents a situation where you have to burn all the ships" I used to get scolded from my bosses. Then a self-talk changed the course of my life in that company; "aaj bagair koi lead banaye hue main yaha se uthne ni wala. us din maine 3 card sales leads banaye jisme 2 next day pick up hui aur muje condence gain hua". Same time I continued my study and when I saw my graduation degree in my hands considering the trauma I went through, I was on a cloud 9 feeling. I was crying and laughing at the same time. I knew I made myself proud and today I proudly want to share with all of you that I have completed my Post graduation in Business management & marketing and to increase my knowledge I am presently pursuing M.A in Psychology with organization behavior. This was the time when I entered banking sector, got married without taking a penny from anyone, blessed with a beautiful daughter, bought my own house in New Delhi and bought sedan car for myself. I served banking sector almost for 10 years. Dubai I was back on the track and one ne day at my relatives function, my wife's cousin taunted me to take care of my tummy while I was dancing. He laughed at me and insulted me. I told my wife about this and she consoled me. I cried the entire night and decided myself to reduce my weight as I was 120 kg that time. Same time, I got an opportunity in Dubai but came back within 15 days because of missing my family too much and couldn't focus on work. Now again I was Jobless and were bound to live on savings so one day entire saving was over which made me devastated and I was in depression for 6 months. I used to lock the bathroom door and wouldn't come out for 30-40 minutes; there I used to cry loud. I always wanted to come back and my wife was a big support, she was the only one whom I used to talk besides my daughter. This dark phase of my life gave me the time for soul searching and what happened after that is miraculous. I made comeback like a Lion.

"The mind chooses comfort over discomfort but the point here is success never comes with discomfort. It only comes when you accept discomfort."

Body Transformation I lost and shred my body fat by 55 Kg and surprised everyone. My haters and critics started accepting me like never before. I got great enthusiasm in bodybuilding did my rst ever  t n e s s b o d y s h o o t s f o r L e v i s . I followed techniques like visualization, afrmations and mind imprinting techniques learnt from Earl Nightingale audio and books. I even sub consciously followed 10,000 hour rule which states that it takes 10 k hours to master a skill. I mastered my diet and all the possible exercise at gym. During my preparation of tness shoot, I even left my job and was on sabbatical for 3 months to prepare and I used to work out for 6-8 hours a day very much the time an individual devotes in ofce for work. I had built up character of a lion and sharpness in mind like of a cobra snake. They both inspire me because they are the masters of their game. While I was preparing for nationals in body building, I got a bacterial infection at my back and undergone minor operation, doctors advised me to avoid completely heavy lifting and be on normal diet for 3-4 months at least. Importantly, I did all this post my marriage, daughter's birth which was really challenging but at every stage of my life I destroyed my challenges. Always remember if you really love something strongly, love will win it for you because LOVE WINS!! I follow the philosophy -LOVE WINS!! Start With Repetitions, Not Goals It's not just the gym where repetition matters. I force myself to write something new across my posts on social media or a few blogs whenever I get time. I can't predict which articles will be useful, but I know that if I write two per month, then sometimes I'll hit the bull's eye. And it works the same way with almost any goal you could have… If you want to be a great photographer, you could go on a quest to take one perfect photo each day. Or you could take 100 photos per day, learn from your mistakes, and hone your craft. How many of you have dreams? I am sharing my success Formula which I am following till date to achieve my dreams; Dream = Repetition + Daily progress/persistence multiply by consistent action. Training/Public Speaking I re-focused shifted my gears back to training and started giving corporate trainings. Till now, I have delivered more than 500 training sessions across junior/middle and senior management employees on sales, leadership, blogging, personal branding, soft skills and trained more than 8000 corporate employees during my ofine and online training sessions. I have also started my workshop series on – Effective Public Speaking Skills and working as Public Speaking Coach now. I will be majorly focusing upon the segments where people have stage freight and they need a coach to help them. My rst book on Public Speaking will be out soon. Writing To become a writer, you got to be an avid reader. I read more than 200 books on self improvement and personality development. Books are my best buddies. I didn't watch television from 2016 end, almost 3 years. I started blogging

and went on to write for newspapers and then published my maiden book Unleash the hidden potential. It was a dream come true and I give credit to my bad times because that gave me ignition. I am the only published author in my entire family and probably in my last 5 generations of family. We all are gifted. All you need to discover is what is your gift? Replace "What are you passionate about" with "What makes your heart sing? The answer to the former is more profound". Ask yourself what makes your heart sing. That is your real passion. The idea started from a Whatsapp group which started transforming lives across the world. With blessings of almighty and my own efforts I founded my own venture MS Ta l k s - I n s p i r a t i o n f r o m a n y w h e r e l a s t y e a r. I work in the area of personal growth and human development. I love my family. Someone asked we always post funny jokes about wife and respectable quotes for mother; I replied in this way; I am thankful to both because mother bring you into this world and other makes YOU her world. I want all of you to repeat after me please, No matter how bad it is or how bad it gets, I am going to make it. Life Lessons Here's what life has taught me through experience and it is priceless. 1. Solitude is a crucial ingredient for creativity to ourish 2. There is no right way; there is only what works for you. 3. It all boils down to the story you're telling yourself. 4. Don't expect any miracle in life rather unleash the miracle inside you. 5. It takes talent and passion, not just capital, to build great companies. 6. Stop counting your problems, start counting your blessings. You will develop a great attitude of gratitude. 7. From nowhere to somewhere and somewhere to everywhere, that's what I call Inspiration from anywhere. And 'Inspiration from anywhere' is the tagline for my venture – MS Talks. 5 FASHION TRENDS FROM 2018 WE DON'T WANT TO SEE IN 2019 2018 has been a great year for fashion. We saw a resurgence of '90s trends (bum bags, ared pants, chokers, band T-shirts), and also stood witness to the birth of new trends (micro bags, head-to-toe animal prints, micro mini sunglasses, neon clothing) that earned instant approval from the fashion fraternity. Such is the eeting nature of a trend in fashion that as soon as its popularity peeks, the slightest presence of an overdone item instantly puts you off it. As we step into 2019, Vogue recapitulates the trends from 2018 that we do not want to carry forward to the new year.

1) Micro mini sunglasses This trend has found patrons in A-listers all over the globe, from Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Kendall Jenner—but we're not convinced. Sure, they will guarantee a statement addition to your outt, but not every look warrants an exaggerated accessory. These can go straight back to the '90s where they came from. Thank you, next!

2) Plastic everything At rst, it was Chanel's see-through collection of PVC boots, jackets, hats, gloves and more that created an uproar; then it was Calvin Klein 205W39NYC's clear coat, Celine's plastic shopping bag, the Off-White x Jimmy Choo plastic pumps and even the Off-White x Rimowa transparent suitcase that caught everyone's attention. Yes, it's true that the fashion industry needs to herald in transparency, but this trend took it too literally. Also, who needs more plastic in the world than there is already?

3) Cold shoulder tops and dresses You know that feeling when you've eaten way more of the same item than you should've? It's the same feeling we get when we spot this trend. It only takes one look around the clothing racks at most major shopping centres to notice the (excessive!) number of tops and dresses featuring the familiar cut-outs—resulting in the kind of monotony that appeases nobody. Considering it's the start of a new year, can we all just agree to give the trend a cold shoulder and leave it in the past, where it deserves to be?

4) Sock boots The sock boot trend came to life when athleisure met sophistication to create a shoe option for evening wear that was equal parts sporty and elegant. Think Balenciaga's knife booties and Vetements' sock boots, which carved a niche of their own. What was once an alternative style that wasn't entirely loved but not quite hated on, is now omnipresent. We are denitely over these.

5) Fluffy faux fur shoes Throughout 2018, we have championed ugly footwearpool slides, dad sneakers, grandmom sneakers—the works. However, pool ats and bedroom shoes had a hybrid child that was more cutesy than necessary and gave us ashbacks of that uffy rug a college roommate insisted on. While the slip-on style promises to be easy to wear, we can collectively agree it doesn't need the fuzz.

7 FRESH INDIAN WEAR TRENDS ALL BRIDES-TO-BE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

If one were to chalk up the most dening qualities of the millennial Indian bride, attributes like individualistic, risk-taker, bold and unconventional would top the list. So it only follows that this bride is not out to be a mere clone of her predecessors. She is dressing for more than just that picture-perfect portrait for her ’gram. This bride wants her sartorial repertoire to be a narrative of her personality and sensibility; she wants her ensembles to be as high on comfort as they are on style. That it is no longer just about choosing the heaviest outt in the store is clear, so what should you be looking to pick up? Vogue trains the spotlight on all the trends you need to screenshot if you’re tying the knot this year.

Pastel play While there exists a tribe of brides who couldn't imagine wearing anything but the ceremonial crimson red at their weddings, there is a growing set that is itching to venture beyond. Delicate pastel hues have emerged as a clear winner. With Indian bridal nery being the epitome of 'more is more', soft shades bring balance to the overall look. Cases in point: Anushka Sharma and Neha Dhupia both wed in baby pink lehengas, while Sonam K Ahuja chose an ivory chikankari lehenga for her mehandi function. The newest bride in town, Shloka Mehta, was seen in the hues of soft pink, dusty rose and dull gold at her multiple engagement parties.

MOTOR MOUTH OF INDIA RAKHI SAWANT

Rakhi Sawant (born Neeru Bheda on 25 November 1978) is an Indian dancer, model, Hindi film and television actress and television talk show host, who has appeared in many Hindi and a few Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Telugu and Tamil films. She was a contestant on the first season of the controversial Indian reality television series Bigg Boss in 2006.[4] Throughout her career, she has established herself as a sex symbol. Bollywood's controversy child, Rakhi Sawant, 34 , has hardly been the shy type. Having been in the headlines recently for taking on Tanushree Dutta and the #MeToo campaign, Rakhi is firing on all cylinders and seems to be in no mood to slow down. Rakhi calls herself an "illiterate" who worked hard in Bollywood for 15 years to carve a niche for herself. "Bollywood is my janmabhoomi [birthplace] and karmabhoomi [workplace]," she says. "I took a lot of time and struggled hard. Yes, I wore short skirts, did item numbers and flaunted my body. But, I neither resorted to shortcuts nor slept with anybody to move up." Rakhi believes that the #MeToo campaign was brought from America to vilify India, and Tanushree is trying to portray all Indian men as rapists. "Was she comatose for ten years?" asks Rakhi about Tanushree's allegations against actor Nana Patekar. She claims Tanushree took a lot of money from America to destroy Bollywood. About Tanushree's allegation of being molested on the sets of Horn OK Pleassss, Rakhi says that the actors were on the set with 200 dancers and 300 others. "How can a big star molest a girl in front of 500 people?" she asks. Rakhi replaced Tanushree in a song sequence in the movie, after the latter walked out of the project

Rakhi denies the stories that she was coerced by Patekar and Raj Thackeray of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena to make statements against Tanushree. But, clearly, the two actors have been at daggers drawn. "I have not got a [court] notice, yet," says Rakhi. "I am just getting threats from her [Tanushree's] lovers and boyfriends, who call me at her behest. I have filed a complaint with the police. I have a video and other proof against her, which I will produce in court. If she is going to slap a case of Rs10 crore, I am going to slap a case of Rs50 crore." Rakhi asserts that Tanushree's claims about rapes in Bollywood are false. "Nobody rapes in Bollywood," she says. "There are 'understandings'; there is a 'give and take' [policy]. But, no rape." Rakhi lashed out at the media for "helping spread Tanushree's lies for TRPs, ads and sponsorship". She says: "If Miss India says something, everybody will listen, and, if I, an ordinary girl, say that I was raped, then nobody will listen [referring to the rape allegations she has leveled against Tanushree]." Rakhi asks why there are no #HeToo and #SheToo campaigns? She believes that it is important to listen to the accused man also, whether he is innocent or not. "Men should bring out a morcha [movement]," she says. "Stop beti bachao campaign, start aadmi bachao campaign." Responding to Tanushree calling her a "sexand money-obsessed moron", Rakhi asserts that she abstains from sex and alcohol. "Miss India is bankrupt, loony and a psycho," she says. "My body is my temple and I am not going to desecrate my temple."

9 Style Tips for Women in Business Happy Monday, ladies. Let's kickstart the week with another installment of business advice. First, let's make sure you're all caught up on the other two recent business articles: (1) 6 Biggest Mistakes Women Make in Business, and (2) 7 Ways to Develop Confidence in Business.

Today, we are diving into an issue that is critical for women in business. The "what to wear to work" dilemma is one many of us business women face. How we handle this will impact how others view us. As I mentioned here, one of the top five pieces of advice I give to young girls whom I mentor is this: Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Let that sink in. You've heard the phrase "put your best foot forward". Well, let's talk about how we can put our best physical self forward in a business setting. The onus is on us to present ourselves as professional, respectable, and powerful. Whether we like it or not, appearances do matter. They are the first impression people get of us, so let's craft our ap pearance to give off the right impression. Clearly, qualities like work ethic, competency, and professionalism matter immensely. But also people do, in fact, take cues about who we are and our aspirations in the work place from how we present ourselves. Think of how you dress as an aspect of personal branding. Note that I come at this subject from the perspective of a very traditional corporate office environment. If you work in a more creative, artistic, or relaxed environment, you might have a bit more leeway with your work uniform. But some basic principles still apply. So, let's address how to dress for success...

FEB ISSUE 2019

1. Do be authentic to yourself. I am not a believer that you must dress to conform in an office space. I am a believer that you should dress in a relatively modest, office-appropriate manner. But within those guidelines, you do you! If you prefer color, then wear color. If you prefer heels, then wear heels. If you like to wear a bold lipstick, then just keep the rest of your makeup fairly natural. Just balance statement pieces with more conservative, neutral pieces. Everything in moderation. As Polonius so famously declared, "This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man." Being true to yourself is an admirable leadership quality. So practice it in all ways, including how you dress. 2. Do invest in quality, staple pieces. As a business woman, you likely are smart with how you spend your money. There are certainly ways to penny pinch, but your business wardrobe is not one of them. Though the cost may seem like a lot up front, in reality you'll get a lot of bang for your buck. If the item is high-quality, you'll be able to wear it

many times over many years, making the cost per wear low. Think quality over quantity. When shopping, pay attention to the materials and craftsmanship of the garments you purchase. Then once you buy quality items, take proper care of them. Have them tailored, have them professionally cleaned regularly as needed, hang them on velvet hangers (just say no to wire hangers!), take your shoes to a cobbler when they need to be polished or resoled. Basic care will go a long way in extending the life of your clothes and shoes! Action item: If you don't already have a trusted tailor, find one' Fit is everything! You want your clothes to fit not too tight, not too loose, not too long, not too short, but just right. And a good tailor will help you achieve that. 3. Don't wear open-toed shoes. Speaking of shoes... I don't know what it is, but something about open-toed shoes is very off-putting in the office place. Save that for the beach, for the weekend, for the night out, or really any where else but the office. I'm less concerned with if you wear heels or flats, pointy-toe shoes or rounded-toe shoes, but I do think you should stick to closed-toe shoes.

Now, if you do insist on wearing open-toed shoes, make sure your feet are well-groomed. 4. Don't show too much skin. I suggest being cognizant of this in two particular ways. (1) Pay attention to your skirt or dress length. The right length is critical! Dresses and skirts should at least graze the top of your knee. Keep in mind that when you sit in a chair, your dress or skirt will automatically rise up some, making it seem shorter. Be aware of any slits your clothing might have as well. Never choose pieces with super high slits. (2) Don't show cleavage. It's just not appropriate. Along those lines. make sure tops are not at all see-through. And make certain that undergarments are not visible. Some might add a third rule about not showing too much skin, and that's the arms. Some stringent office guidelines often pro hibit sleeveless tops or require a sweater or jacket over such. I'm not as much a stickler on this one, but then again it's often a practically good idea to wear a sweater or jacket, as offices tend to be cold. Always be sure to consult your employee handbook for specific dress code rules for your office.

5. Don't ovenlo your makeup. Like most of these tips (and most things in life'), moderation is key. lf you like a bold lip, feel free to go for it. But keep every thing else vecy natural. Avoid overly dramatizing yourself with things like fa ,se eyelashes, smoky eyeshadow, or an abundance of bronzer. Use your makeup to enhance your natural look. On the subjecl of make-up, always keep a

mirror at your desk to

double check yourself before you go into meetings. Make sure you don't have lipstick on your teeth, any make-up smudges, or food in your teeth. Likewise, try to keep a toothbrush and tooth paste handy just in case.
