the European and PAL audience much earlier than was publicly anticipated.” Square Enix the company that makes Final Fantasy also annouced that X Factor winner Leona Lewis will be singing the theme tune to the western verisons of the game. The song is called “My Hands” and is part of the “Echo” album that is being released this week. Final Fantasy fans are in for a treat in 2010 with the news that Final Fantasy XIV will be released later in the year, only on the PS3 and only online. Many fans
see this as great chance to test how well Final Fantasy will play online, and how well MMORPG’s have come since this previous online MMORPG. That was released about five to six years ago.
Bioshock 2 Boxart revealed By Stephen Hudson One of the greatest aspects of the original Bioshock was its art direction, the game was stunning and won over numerous fans. Well that direction looks like its going to be continued in the next game in the series, Bioshock 2 box art has been revealed by Take Two. Much like the previous game, the cover featues a Big Daddy and the iconic Little Sister along with the logo and water along with the similar colour scheme to the first. There is no information as of yet, on any special editions, but for now this is the over art that the many fans across the
worls will see when they walk into their local video game store when the game hits the shelfs on the 9th February 2010. Bioshock 2 promises to be a mesemerising blast through Rapture again as you play as the first Big Daddy, collecting Adam and upgrading youre weapons to use against the ever expanding group of enemines now headed by the fearsome Big Sister. Dead Space 2 In 2010 Stephen Hudson Dead Space 2 the highly anticipated sequel to the 2008 smash hit Dead Space has all but been confirmed for 2010.
Dead Space was released in 2008 to critical acclaim, winning numerous awards for its gameplay, storyline and impressive graphics. Sadly the game didnt sell as well as it should have, probably due to poor advertisment and well the simple fact that its a horror game which unless its part of the Resident Evil series wont grasp the majority of the
gaming community. We however loved it, play-
to climb back into the suit if Isaac Clark and do it all over
ing it at 4 AM with all the lights off and with no sound around us, even in the game, made it an unforgettable experience, and we cant wait
again in Dead Space 2. We know its coming after EA accidently leaked onto the internet that they were looking for a senior online
Ubisoft annouce Assassins Creed short movies
U
bisoft® today announced the first of the three episodes from the new Assassin’s Creed: Lineage short movies will debut on YouTube. Beginning on October 27, 2009, YouTube will have the first episode of the short movies on its homepage in eight countries throughout the world for a period of 24 hours. Developed by Ubisoft’s Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio behind 300 and Sin City, Assassin’s Creed: Lineage combines live action and computer generated imagery (CGI) to explore the events that happen just before the Assassin’s Creed II game starts. The short films revolve around Ezio’s father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, and give insight on the game’s back story and universe. The short films will whet the appetite of game play-
ers and fans of this type of cinematography in advance of the in-store release of the video game on November 17, 2009. Assassin’s Creed: Lineage will also introduce some of the characters that players will meet in the game: both foes and friends of the family, like Lorenzo de Medici, the Italian statesman and de facto ruler of the Florentine Republic during the Italian Renaissance period. “Ubisoft is excited to share a new Assassin’s Creed experience with the public. The Assassin’s Creed Lineage film series is part of Ubisoft’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its intellectual properties by bringing them to multiple entertainment mediums, providing gamers with a more immersive experience when they play as Ezio, the master assassin of Assassin’s Creed II, stated Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft.
programmer which undoubtably means that the sequel will contain some form multiplayer experience. Wether it is needed or not is something that will need to be reviewed when the copy arrives for pre release reviews at some point next year. EA hope to release the game at some point next year, our guess is that it’ll probably be simliar to Dead Space and be released in the Autum. The time cant come fast enough and watch this space, if this is as good as it promises to be, it could well be Game of the Year. We cant wait!

Previews Call of Duty 6 Modern Warfare 2
Format: PS3/360/PC Genre: FPS Release: November RRP: £44.99
E
very so often a game series will suddenly appear out of nowhere and take the world be storm, Call of Duty isnt the series, however Modern Warfare is.
Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to probably the best video game every released: Modern Warfare. To live you to this game is a challenge foe any game but the sequel is so closley linked to the first that ti better it is going to take a monstrous effort. That doesnt mean that Activsion and Ifinaty Ward arent
trying, from what ive weve played the game is looking as good if not better than the first, the graphics have been completley revamped and are truly breathtaking. The game is supposed to include a longer and more superior singler player campagin, the first was critised by some for its lacking single player, one of the few critisims that are about. The developers have also promised a far bigger and more customisable multiplayer, that from what weve played seems to have been delivered, customisable weapons, costumes and display names are just a small idea of what has been improved. The game will undoubtably come in for some critisim due to a level in the game that sees you gunning down a number of inocent civilians in a Russian airport. Given the climate that we live in at the moment , i wonder if this level was really needed and although you can skip it and never witness the massacare if you wish, the level is appartently important to the games story therefore
people who do decided to skip this level, will naturally have a weakened experience of the game. That being said the game looks like its going to be a blast and a huge success when it’s released later this month. The game looks highly enjoyable and from what PSC has played the game could keep gamers happy for a long time especially online, with up to 70 levels, this game will undoubtably keep a gamer busy for most of if not the next 3 years unitl Modern Warfare 3 is released. Sadly one aspect of the game that isnt looking to ap-
pealing is the price at £44.99 its extremly expensive especially concidering the current climate, and with £44.99 being the cheapest version of the game £64.99 and £100+ for the other versions, gamers will have a huge dent in their bank balance should they decide to pick this up. Im sure that the price wont discourage to many hardered and the game will probably sell well and i imagine that in 3 years it will have sold more copies than the original did (13 million). Look out for our review in the next issue folks. Stephen Hudson

ioshock 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2008 smash hit Bioshock from 2K Video Games.
Set approximatley 10 years after the original game, Rapture once again adore the creatures from the past, in the cold icy waters along the cost of the Atlantic. Much like the first the Little Sisters are are huge influence on the game. The girls are being captured by an unnown creature and bringing them to the city of Rapture. You play as the first Big Daddy, looking for answers and your
Big Daddy, the nemsis in the first is now you’re best friend. own survival in the beautiful silent and drenched halls of Rapture. The game has many of the same perks as the original, such as weapon upgrades and armour upgrades, along with the ability to save Little Sisters to collect their Adam to allow you to improve yourself. New ideas include more weapons, armour and new arears of out beloved Rapture. However the best and most fasinating new aspect of Bioshock 2 is the inclusion of multiplayer mode. In which players go up against each other in the halls
of Rapture, fighting for Adam to improve themselves for the victory. The players will need all their experience to acheive the ultimate goal. The multiplayer looked intresting when we played it, if not a little shallow, the customisation was not hugley visible copmared to games such Modern Warfare 2 and Battelfield Bad Compnay. There was also a lack of game modes, the only two options we had play was the typical deathmatch or team deathmatch as well as some version of capture the flag. Hopefully by the time of release in February the developers will have fixed the bugs and included many new game modes and customisation modes. The game however looks like it is going to be a huge success, the first game captured our hearts and the second is going to have to be something special if it is going to come close capturing the love we felt for the first.
The first Bioshock was so unique in eveything that it did that it deserved the rewards it recive and even though a sequel was bound to happen, many people out in the community feel that the sequel may just be that a sequel. Something that just isnt going to be as special and as memorable as the original. Bioshock included many diffrent aspects of a video game, the game has FPS, adventure and even horror aspects. We remember and im sure you remember the shadow of the surgeon on the wall, when you entered the room at 3AM. Some parts of the game had that on edge feeling about them and thankfully by the look of the things Bioshock 2 is going to continue with this, and rightly so seens and its set in Rapture again and that is one scary underwater city. The game is looking very impressive and with any luck the game will live up to the expectations it has and live up to the first because if it fails, so will our belief in the video game industry.

Battlefield Bad Company 2
Format: PS3/360/PC Genre: FPS Release: 03/03/2010 Price: ÂŁ39.99 Stephen Hudson
Nobody can question that even with some of its faults the first Battlefield Bad Compnay was great fun, the story was fuilled with classy lines from loveable characters and classinc one liners. The game was a great romp and the multiplayer was as good as any multiplayer game as any released in 2008.
The game however had plenty of faults which is why it only got 7/10. The story was ridiculously hard this alienated many gamers and put them off, plus the levels were so long that if you continued to die you lost intrest in what you were doing because you never wanted to continue due to the distance it took to get to the next checkpoint. The multiplayer, as fun as it was very linear, with only two game modes capture the flag and gold rush, this is something we would like to se improved for the next game and thankfully on the demo of Bad Company 2 we have seen at least 4 diffrent modes which is a start. The multiplayer was full of bugs when first released and numerous times the game would crash for no apparent reason. The best parts included the customisation which was pretty
big and the inclusion of in game acheivments as well as the trophies you could get. Thankfully both of these pros have been included in the sequel and they have also been expanded and the number of awards you can recieve increased. The second game continues in the same fashion, with the story including the same witty and loveable characters as the first and they look to have sorted out the checkpoint gap problem, and the difficulty has been sorted to included many more difficulties other than normal and extreme. The game looks the part from what weve seen, its runs well in
full 1080p HD and other modes, and looks beautiful throughout, even the multiplayer looks amazing with 30+ people on the same map. The bulidings are again destructable and this time they are fully destructable, meaning that they actually fall dowm, unlike the previous game where only 70% of the building could be destroyed leaving the main structure in place. The game is due for release in March, but will have its work cut out for sales as its being released literally a few days before Final Fantasy XIII.Which probably means that it will end u being de-
layed to a spot in which EA will know that it will sell well, but as gamers we hope it sticks by its original release date because the game looks a class act and could in our opinion hold its own against the beast of FFXIII. We get tired of release date changes due to a big release around it, it happend with Bioshock 2, it was due for release on 31st October put pushed back to February due to the imminet release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. In the meantime, go and practise you’re skills on the first as its still a class game with a very good and addictive multiplayer, see you on the battlefield.

Assassins Creed 2
Format: PS3/360 Genre: Sandbox Release: Out now Price: ÂŁ39.99

Stephen Hudson
y name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and I like my father before me am an assassin.
If that doesnt make you’re blood boil with anticipation than sadly nothing ever will. The wait has been a pretty long one, but finally the sequel to Ubisofts highly acclaimed Assassins Creed is finally here. Assassins Creed 2 take place over 300 years after the original
in Italy during the Renaissance, and sees you a young nobleman take on the role of a assassin after his family was brutally mudred by corrupt leaders and friends. His goal is to eliminate the people responsible and to take his revenge. The original Assassins Creed was a blockbuster hit but only in a few peoples eyes, the game was critised for being too repetative and to linear, thankfully the second fixes these and improves on them grately, not only does it allow you more freedom, you
can compete in up to 20 different missions from assassinations to running around Italy chasing cheating husbands and theifs. The gameplay is vastly improved Ezio can climb pretty much anything and in anyway, the customisation has also been improved, you can access a huge number of weapon armour and suit upgrades for Ezio. The game looks the part aswell, Italy has never looked so good especially Venice, which is probably one of the best arears in a video game that i have ever
had the privilege to play in, the citizens react to Ezio and play a major role in helping him remain undetected, the AI actually look for Ezio now even in hiding places suach as hey and will climb buildings to follow him. The one biggest improvment over the first is the fact that Ezio can actually swim unlike the first where a dip would leave more than leave a scar. Assassins Creed 2 is probably the game ive had the most fun paying this year, from climbing to the top of the highest bell tower just to drop over 100 feet into the hey bell to running around the rooftops assassinating unexpecting guards. The game is no push over aswell, the storyline will take you about 15 hours if you do it slowly and take in everything the game has to offer, then there is the 100 feathers to collect, and the 20 glyths that you can collect to help uncover the story of subject 16. This game is one you wont be putting down anytime soon. Not perfect but dam good fun, sums up Assassins Creed 2

Uncharted 2
Format: PS3 Genre: Adventure Release: Out now Price: £39.99 Stephen Hudson
What more can be said about a game that has already won numerous awards at E3 2009, best graphics, best storyline, best action game and game of show award.
Uncharted 2 sees you taking on the role of Nathan Drake on a beautiful, epic journey through numerous locations that include, a gorgeous jungle, a lively city and snow mountains that will definatley make your jaw drop. The game is indeed an absoluete beauty in terms of visuals. Set about two years after the original the game sees Nathan setting off in search of a infamous treasure with a group of old friends, only afterwards discovering the betrayals of some which leads to a quest to save the world his friends and himself and of course pick up a few shiny objects. The game welcomes back a number of cast members from the original such as Elene and Victor Sullivan both oh which add so much to the story and are developed is such a way you start to think you’re watching a film. New members of the cast include Chole Frazer and Harry Flynn both old friends of Drake, the characters blend extremely well together and the developers have
done a fine job entwning each of improved, there are of course the the characters storyline so that good old AK-47 and MK-41 and they effect each other in some the grenade launcher and various way, and convinently continue to form of pistols and magnums, cross paths. aswell a new gatling gun that Uncharted was highly praised Drake can only carry with two for the hands leaving you “The game is indeed an new vunerable but powerway it absolute beauty in terms of ful, new multi burst too the machine guns and visuals.” advennew sniper rifles. ture genre set down by Tomb The game is near enough Raider and expanded it, the per fect, but there is one or second continues, this isnt just two annying faults that i found as treature hunting game, this is when playing the game, Drake a game with style, fair, action, for some reason can’t fall of a 3 cutscenes to die for and its gener- meter wall without duying, this ally just an amazing experience, can get a bit irritating later on in and of course their are plenty of the game when you’re trying to treasures to collect on the way. climb a building and accidently The combat and control press the wrong direction and schemes have been improved on dramatially since the first, Drake can now over and hind behind the likes of tables and chair, allowing for easy cover in a dog fight, Sony have also got rind of the SixAxis from the first which was simply irritating to say the least. The AI are far more intelligent, they dont just wait for you to attack them, they set up traps, draw you out of hiding and generally try to give you as many headaches as possible. They have also learened to defend themselves better, using riot shields and actaully hiding behind walls in a more accuarte way so you can headshot them like before. The weapons have also been
you have to start the whole section of climbing again. The length, of the game at 12+ hours is a conciderable improvment on the first but its not particually difficult unless you play on the hard or crushing difficulties and even then games like Bioshock on survivor dwarf that, but nevertheless that shouldnt distract from what is one simply amazing, beautiful and hight addictive video game. The game is simpy amazing and should be added to and PS3 owners collection, this game could well end up Game of the Year 2009

orderlands is a science fiction, role playing shooter. Set on the planet Pandora, the game sees you picking one of 4 characters, before setting off on an epic journey across its wastelands in search of loot and bigger guns, all in aid of the few occupants that reside on the planet.
The first aspect that might strike you about the game is the unique graphical style. Set in cell shaded it brings a whole new look to a dated genre. That doesn’t mean that the game is in any way less graphic, with limbs flying in many directions foul language and graphic scenes, this is defiantly not a game for kids. The graphic style does actually allow for some beautiful scenery, the vast wastelands full of dust to waterfalls and lakes, it certainly looks the part. Sometimes the areas can look to similar to the previous one you recently visited. The style of the graphics won’t be to everyone’s taste but they are refreshing and cell shaded hasn’t been seen since XIII on the Gamecube. The game is a RPS, therefore containing aspects of first person shooters and role playing game, some RPG fans may feel the
game is quite linear as you can only really customise the colours of your chosen character and not much else. I have never seen a bigger selection of weapons in any game before this. Literally if you can imagine a type of weapon it’s in the game, from face melting machine guns to electrifying shotguns the game has endless amounts of them. The game plays best when you are with a friend, the co-op is absolultley breathtaking, the game increases in difficulty but you
really wouldnt know it, the game allows you share weapons ammo and health and certainly makes you workm together. The online can be a little bit annoying because you could be online at level 20 and a level 50 may join you and insteqad of working with you they choose to attack you and make you enter duels you have very little chance of winning but on the whole the multiplayer is a rewarding experience if not a more rewarding experience than single player. Borderlands is a unique chal-
lenging experience that may not be an essential purchase but it is certainly one of the better games released in 2009, however its greatest attraction is also its greatest downfall: it’s really quite unique. It deserves its time in the spotloight and im telling you to buy it now. Stephen Hudson

Dead Space
Format: PS3 Genre: Horror Release: Out now Price: £15 In 2004, Resident Evil 4 changed the survival horror genre for good, many games have followed in most cases unsuccessfully, so can Dead Space live up to expectation and like Resident Evil 4 change the landscape of survival horror games?
You take control of an engineer, Isaac Clarke and along with a small crew are dispatched to answer a distress call from a derelict ship, the Ishimura, a huge ship with one purpose, planet cracking, and collecting minerals to help replenish the stock on Earth. However on a routine mission and a simple planet crack, a deadly infection takes over the ship killing the crew and worse bringing them back as hideous Necromorph creatures. While on way to the Ishimura Isaac ships cashes into the Ishimura and Isaac and his crew are left with a predicament, restore the ship and search for his girlfriend who was assigned to the Ishimura and escape or be eaten alive by the wild creatures that now reside on board Ishimuras cold damp and frankly bloody decks. Dead Space is very highly
influenced by games such as Resident Evil 4 and thus controls in almost the same way, except it improves with the ability to shoot and walk making the game feel more realistic and heightens the experience. The controls never feel out of place and are smooth and well designed, go back to Resident Evil 4 and you will feel highly vulnerable. EA have outdone themselves with the on screen displays, there aren’t any! They appear in holographic projections and all the important information is contained on Isaac and his suit, his health is contained in a bar running down his back with the air and all the details such as the ammo left in his gun is visible just above his gun when pointing. The game also has a in game menu section, meaning that Isaac can still be attacked while viewing his inventory or using one of the many shops found around the game. These Necromorph creatures are basically human bodies that have been manipulated by the infection, and have grown extra limbs and in many cases have gained the ability to run faster than a cheater, which can be a little unnerving. However a first in the survival horror series, shooting these enemies in the head just doesn’t work, to kill them Isaac must dismember their limbs such as their legs and arms. This may put some people off but it does help to the feel of the game. The bosses are immense and some of the best I’ve seen in a game and
are in no way a push over. Isaac has the ability to improve his weapons and suit by collecting schematics dotted around the ship and buy them from the shops found usually in the safer tram rooms that you will come across at the start of the chapters.
Isaac also can collect power nodes to help boost his weapons buy increasing the damage, reload speed and capacity, a lot like Resi 4. The game has extraordinary level design ranging from, a mining deck to a medical pavilion
deck, and even though you do backtrack through some it never feels like the same place. However the most impressive areas are the zero gravity sections which allows Isaac to float across rooms and walk on pretty much any area he feels, naturally enemies are harder to kill in these rooms but they are superb although they aren’t as common as they should be. Throughout the game the sound plays a major part, whether it is a small spark of electricity, strange sounds coming from rooms are just the sound or creatures crawling around in the air vents, it is amazing, the sound along with the graphics mean that for once this is a game where you can never relax, it keeps you on you’re toes from beginning to end. One of the scariest moments I found was entering a room, where you see a fire extinguisher rolling across it and then nothing happens, until you take you’re
guard down slightly and the creatures appear out of nowhere. If you don’t like scares, then this is definitely not a purchase for you, its full of them although nearer the end the game can get slightly predictable but it still leaves you on you’re toes due to the music and atmospheric feeling. The game does have a small number of flaws, for a survival horror game it has a huge amount of save stations, thus giving you a safety net, any on easy and medium you vary rarely run out of ammunition. So if you are after a true horror experience; crank the difficult up to high. It is also on the short side 12 hours first time though, but it was a very fresh and full experience and well worth a purchase. Dead Space does a lot of things right and doesn’t just use Resident Evil 4 as a guide it expands on it defiantly has changed the survival horror genre for the better, it’s not perfect and by no means as good a package as Resident Evil 4 but it’s a enjoyable and fulfilling experience if you have the stomach and nerve to try it.
