Editorial International Women’s Day

«A celebration that asserts itself» The journey of these women is amazing and full of surprises. It shows us the will and the courage of these great ladies, who guided by their actions and their passions manage to overcome many obstacles.

Hayet Medjdoub

C

elebrated every March 8, International Women’s Day reminds us that inequality between men and women remains a reality, and that the gap is still deep despite progress. On the occasion of this day, Glamour Fashion & Beauty paid tribute to women from various backgrounds and in different sectors. From Kathrine Switzer who campaigned for women to be admitted to marathons to Flo who regularly practices to run races, passing by Baya, this painter with unknown talents,as well as Stéphanie, the queen of make up and Jez the creator of multi faceted jewelry. All these women have at least one thing in common to make their messages heard, and to assert themselves through the various activities they exercise.

www.glamourfashionandbeauty.com

Even if the road seems far away still, the testimonies collected in this issue of Glamour Fashion & Beauty on women’s day prove that despite the wide gap, women are starting to gain ground and making considerable progress on the road to equality, thanks to individual initiatives that command admiration. Despite changing attitudes in some countries, the international community agrees that the situation of most women in the world is evolving very slowly. At present, no country can make it clear that perfect equality has been achieved in this area. There are still many legal and cultural hurdles to overcome in order to get there.

The laws of the universe have given women the power to give birth and to create so that man can exist. This fundamental aspect should not be flouted either by violence or by the hatred which unfortunately still characterize some, thus preventing us from understanding each other. We can only congratulate and admire the testimony of these women who were quoted in this issue of Glamour Fashion & Beauty and who prove by their courage and their will, that things can move in the right direction. This year 2020 can be a remarkable advance in this quest for equality and respect for women’s rights , a glimmer of hope that seems possible to get to a more harmonious and less selfish world.

From the time of Kathrine Switzer to the present day, the path crossed seems tiny in the light of circumstances, it continues to progress in the direction that seems to be in order to try to change mentalities and reduce the gap existing between man and woman. Until we see the evolution of this change manifest fully, we will have to work to find a harmony and balance that allow men and women to flourish. Because one cannot go without the other and vice versa.

Located on a mountainous site of great beauty, north of the Aures massif, 418 km from Algiers, and 36 km from the city of Batna, Timgad was, in Roman times, a military colony. It was created in the year 100 AD by the last Roman Emperor «Trajan», who gave it the name of his sister «Marciana Traiana Thamugadi».

James Bruce, the first to discover the ancient city of Timgad in Batna

A

lthough the Scottish explorer, James Bruce was the first to discover Roman ruins at Timgad in 1765, it was not until 1881 that archaeological excavations carried out by the team of the French architect «Duthoit» revealed many monuments of the city, buried under the sand.

very of several thermal baths like the «Philadelphia Baths», which were found extramural. During the same period, there have been many findings such as the public library, several tombs, the Christian complex west of the Capitoline Temple, mosaics, and water supply channels.

The continuation of their excavations until 1888 resulted in the restoration of the theater and the triumphal arch, as well as the discovery of a large number of Latin engravings.

Without forgetting the capitol and the theater which represent two buildings of great importance in Timgad.

Other research work supervised by several internationally renowned archaeologists, such as BALLU, LA FERRIERE, COGNAT, and RENIER led to the discovery of the Temple du Capitole and the “SERTIUS” market, between 1893 and 1897. From 1901 to 1962, such basilicas and a large number of dwellings were discovered, as was the disco12

It is also worth mentioning the excavations which began in 1938 in the Byzantine castle by the French archaeologist «LESCHI» who was the director of antiquities at the time in Algeria. the governor «GODET» also revealed in 1942 the thermal baths which are inside this castle, the excavations continued during the years 1954 and 1955 under the guardianship of «LE GLAY» and «LASSUS» until 1959, these excavations made it possible to reveal the whole castle,

as well as the traces of the great temple «AQUA SEPTIMIANA FLEX». From 1962 to present, all archaeological excavations in the city of Timgad have been suspended and most of the work on the site has been limited to cleaning and maintenance of certain monuments.

The forum ... the political and social heart of Timgad

L

ocated in the heart of the quadrangle of the original city of Timgad, the Forum (public square) was considered one of the most important places in Roman times. Delimited by four porticoes, the “forum” was an enclosed rectangular space that hosted many activities. It formed the political and social heart of the city, it housed the curia where the regional order gathered as well as a civil basilica and a single temple, raised on a podium, which would have been dedicated to the Victory. The curia was a room of rather small size, preceded by a portico decorated with statues and covered with marble.

apse to the north gave an axiality to this vast room which welcomed judicial activities, a tribune occupied one of the small sides and allowed judges to sit. The forum was decorated with at least thirty statues, the bases of which have been found bearing inscriptions, its construction was financed by the city and probably began shortly after the founding of the city. It is worth mentioning that one found on one of the columns of the forum an inscription which summarized the way of life of the Romans «hunting, swimming, playing, spectating etc ...».

Economic growth is the ancient city, the market whose eastern flank is pierced with a door adorned with two columns.

t is the only door that gives access to the market, this large open space surrounded by galleries and paved with beautiful blue limestone with a fountain in the center of the courtyard.

The east and west sides of this courtyard are bordered by porticoes formerly supported by columns, most of which have disappeared, the south side is lined with columns established above a high ground of two steps having the semicircular shape at the Inside this hemicycle, seven radiating

(On the columns of the south face of the pedestals contain inscriptions which attest that the monument was erected at the expense of Marcus Plotius Faustus Sertius, Roman knight and former leader of the cohorts and wings of the auxiliary army).

The thermal baths of Timgad‌ important meeting places for the Romans

I

t goes without saying that baths have always been of paramount importance to the Romans, first in health, then in social terms. They had become real meeting places where rhetoricians and philosophers came to speak. It should be noted that Timgad has no less than thirteen establishments intended for the public, without counting the private baths installed in all the houses with the wealthy owners. We find in each of the thermal baths of Timgad a succession of rooms, each time arranged differently but with this invariable rule that the bather, always started with the cold bath, could reach the lukewarm room, then the caldarium, finally in the oven and iron by the warm room, the tepidarium and the cold room, it was then that he was being scratched with the strigil and anointed with perfumes by a special slave.

Roman culture one of the cultures rooted in human history ... The Timgad Library ... cultural heritage reflecting the Roman passion for culture, science and knowledge.

T

he excavations of Timgad revealed a relatively unusual building, which was not identified until 1906 as a public library, thanks to the discovery of a Latin inscription, which specified that in the 3rd century Senator Marcus Iulius Quintianus Flavius Rogatianus had bequeathed by will 400,000 sesterces to the city for the construction of a library. The city built the library in the heart of the city, a sign of its importance in urban culture and honored the generous donor with an honorary statue.

The library was organized around a portico with three sides opening widely onto the street. A large semicircular apse room was fitted out with niches intended to accommodate the works. On either side six adjoining rooms overlooked the portico. According to estimates, the library could accommodate between 16,000 and 28,000 volumes. These figures, however, remain estimates.

rable from the festivals and shows. Created in 168 AD during the reign of Emperor «Marcos-Aurelius», Roman theater, like the Greek theater, has a religious origin, since it was created in honor of the Greek god «Bacchus», the God of grapes and wine. As for the composition of the theater, this included a platform, and an “orchestra” choir. The enclosure of the theater was divided into two parts, the upper one, reserved for the bourgeois class and the notables of the city. , and

the other lower dedicated to the public and the rest of the people so that there is no mixing of classes. The stage platform was intended for the actors, who presented strange stories, novels of a legendary nature and short and humorous plays, the theater was also a place of fun in which the poets recited their poems and the singers performed their songs .

Thousands of gods and a deep religious life. The Temple of the Capitol in Timgad… irrefutable proof of Roman religious life

T

he Romans devoted great veneration to their divinities and in particular to Jupiter, the king of the gods, the latter made considerable pecuniary sacrifices to build shrines to which they gave the most imposing proportions. It was

therefore natural that the temple of Jupiter should be the highest of the religious buildings.

Sertius’ house ... one of the most luxurious homes in Timgad

T

he house of Sertius was built on the route of the wall, Rectangular in shape, measuring 62 meters by 36.5 it occupies an area of 2263 square meters, it is one of the most luxurious residences of Timgad. Its main entrance, preceded by a small portico, overlooks the Cardo-Maximus (north-south axis). The plan presents the classic succession of a vestibule and peristyles which open onto reception rooms, The paved vestibule, had a central colonnade, it overlooked a first peristyle which itself opened onto a large room, probably a hall. to eat. The second peristyle offers a basin with complex arrangements, two superimposed tanks are connected by two openings. Vases fixed horizontally there were intended to provide shelter for fish and presumably to collect their spawning, so it is a pond. A room with an antechamber with two columns overlooked the peristyle, it is probably again a triclinium, a dining room.

ly associated with baths. An inscription appearing on the base of one of the statues and naming a “Faustus” and a “Valentina” allows both the attribution of the house to “Marcus Plotius Faustus Sertius” and to his wife “Cornelia Valentina Tucciana Sertia” and its dating. Built under the Severus, the House of Sertius illustrates a key moment in the evolution of Timgad’s plan as well as «one of the earliest dated examples of urban private baths from

The basins had both an aesthetic and an economical function, the raised fish could be used for the meals of the master. Rare, luxurious products, they attested to Sertius’ ease and made it possible to show his splendor to his guests. The second peristyle is however a space undoubtedly more intimate than the first, on the one hand reception, ostentation, of the other more retired life. The house of Faustus also had private baths. These were near its entrance, they opened onto the first peristyle and also had their own access to the street. The accesses to the thermal baths show that Sertius could open them to people outside his house, friends, clients, neighbors. The thermal baths had a 35 square meter frigidarium and a bathing complex of around 150 square meters with four heated rooms. the imperial era.» «Plotius Faustus Sertius» was a rich person of equestrian rank, His family was linked to a Roman knight, son of «veteran», as well as to the family of «Flavii» who entered the senate. He was perpetual flamine of the city. His wealth, as well as that of his wife, came from the land he owned in the colony’s territory, but also from other income such as the rental of shops. Various epigraphic and archaeological clues make it possible to identify the land properties of Sertius and

his wife, a dedication in fact alludes to the latter on an inscription found in the valley of the Wadi Taga. Likewise, about sixty kilometers from Timgad, in the Aurès massif, a mosaic has been found bearing the same motifs as those of the house of Sertius, an indication of one of his properties and of the influence of the character. A story, an exceptional woman!

A

t a time when technology is an integral part of our daily lives, The story of Kathrine Virginia Switzer born in 1947 takes us back to an era that did not have the same concept. We are in the sixties, women’s sport is not as popular as it is today. Kathrine Virginia Switzer, who studies journalism at Syracuse University, trains in crosscountry with men because there is no women’s team for this discipline. She heard that another woman, named Roberta Gibb run this distance, at the Boston Marathon in 1966 in 3h21m25s without being registered. Kathrine Virginia Switzer therefore asks her trainer Arnie Briggs to let her run this marathon, he refuses because of the prejudices of the time. But he ends up reconsidering his position, and let her run this distance during training, 22

Glamour fashin & beauty

to reach her goal by running an approved marathon for a woman. Where it all began. It is with these initials K V «Kathrine Virginia» that she signs the application to enter the Boston marathon. She is training hard for this event, covering more distance during training. She was 20 years old when she competed in this marathon on April 19, 1967 in Boston, with bib number 261. Alongside her trainer Arnie Briggs and her companion Tom Miller, she wore shorts and a tracksuit to take part in this event. , which marks a turning point in the history of women’s sport. Recognizable by her appearance, and the makeup she wears, she was noticed at the sixth kilometer, by one of the race organizer Will Cloney, who wanted to prevent her from continuing her race. An incredible story these days, even sur-

real, but put in context takes on a whole new meaning. Somewhat frightened by the turn of events, Kathrine Virginia Switzer will continue her mission, despite the constant threats from Semple who orders her to stop running. She will be defended by her coach Arnie Briggs, then by her companion Tom Miller who will violently push Semple with a shoulder, sending him down the side of the road. This unpleasant incident will give additional motivation to Kathrine Virginia Switzer to go to the end of this journey. She will finish the marathon in 4h20mn, one hour longer than Roberta Gibb. But for her, it’s already a victory, because when she crosses this finish line, she knows that the press will seize the moment. The photos and the intimidation scene on the course will make the headlines,

and even if Kathrine Virginia Switzer will be disqualified from the race, by the AAU (the American Athletics Federation) which prohibits women the right to participate at road races. Kathrine Virginia Switzer’s goal has already been achieved, to make this race a milestone in the history of women’s sport, a ban that will open a door for the women’s marathon. Following this race, Kathrine Virginia Switzer will campaign for the recognition of the Boston Marathon for women, also be included in the Olympic’s program. It was in 1972 that this event was officially opened to women, and then in 1984 the first Women’s Olympic Marathon was held. At the end of this fight, the performances of Kathrine Virginia Switzer did not stop growing: female victory in the New York marathon in 1974 in 3h07mn29s, 59th times marathon, personal best performance to add to her credit Boston Marathon in 2h51mn37s. She also contributes to the protest against differences and inequalities in sport. Fifty years after her first appearance, she continues to run defending this noble cause. On April 17, 2017 she ran her ninth Boston Marathon at 70, with the same bib number 261, for a time of 4h44mn31s. On April 22, 2018 she participated in her 40th Marathon in London, which she finished in 4h44mn49s. Beyond sporting performance, we must above all remember the fight of a woman, who has made her condition a strength, and showed everyone that any form of injustice can be overcome. Her last testimony during her visit to Paris in October 2019, proves that her action somewhat opened up a new sports path for women beyond taboos.

ho would have said that one day, the frail child of the Parisian suburbs would come the biggest star of the world of soccer. In addition to his exceptional talent, Riyad Mahrez has proven nothing is impossible and that hard work pays off. While nothing predestined him for a career in soccer due to his unenviable morphology, the Algerian striker has managed to find the resources he needs to surpass and impose himself in an unforgiving world of performances. Today his records are so impressive. The Grammy Awards, also known as the Gramophone Awards, always give us a high-quality show this time of the year. The show is broadcast on television, to allow a wider broadcast of this event. It was Alicias Keys, the talented pianist and singer of R&B, who paid a glowing and touching tribute, through a captivating speech. Youth and talent in the spotlight After this emotional moment, it was the young artist Billie Eilish who created the surprise of the evening, with her pop music and her somewhat dark side. The marathon a fabulous human story

T

he origin of the marathon reveals to us that this sporting event is inspired by a historical fact. A Greek messenger Phidippides is said to have run the distance of about 40 km to Athens to announce the victory of the Greeks against the Persians at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC. History tells us that this breathless messenger died immediately after having transmitted his message. From the start, the history of the marathon was created on the occasion of the Olympic Games in 1896 on the initiative of the French Michel BrĂŠal, to commemorate the legend of the Greek messenger Phidippides. The distance from Marathon to Athens is about 40 km, it was after 1921 that the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) fixed the distance for running, which takes place on the road at 42,195 km. Today, the most prestigious running races take place, for the Summer Olympic Games (quadrennials) - the World Athletics Championships (biennials) - as well as the World Major Marathons ( annual): Tokyo (end of February) - Boston (mid-April) London (end of April) - Berlin (end of September) - Chicago (mid-October) and New York (beginning of November)

In 1976, the co-founder of the race Fred Lebow redraws the course, to cope with the growing number of participants. The course crosses New York five boroughs , making this race so successful that the following year the registrations increased tenfold. We will not remember the cheating of the American-Cuban athlete Rosie-Ruiz, to obtain a time below 3 hours, but more the release in 1976 of the film Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman, who plays the role of a student training in Central Park to run the New York marathon. The success of this film offered a beautiful showcase for this event. Sports performances have also left their mark. Norway’s Grete Waitz broke the world distance record that year, crossing the finish line in 2h32mn30s, an event she won nine times in eleven participations. Glamour Fashion and Beauty wanted to celebrate this 50th anniversary with you, by paying a special tribute to an athlete who does not run for glory, or time : Flo, one of the magazine’s icon and follower of marathons, takes us into the magnificent universe of this event. Participation in a marathon requires rigor, discipline, and willpower. Through the remarkable Flo’s marathon participation we are not only showing the sporting aspect but also the struggle of a woman who defends human values in her daily life. At the heart of www.glamourfashionandbeauty.com

the race, it will make us live from the inside, unforgettable moments. All this to say that the New York marathon is an incredible story, and that it arouses a very particular craze. From top athletes, to occasional runners, everyone has the same desire to cross this fateful line of 42,195 km, a source of so much effort and sacrifice to achieve this goal. The marathon is used to surpass oneself in difficult moments of life, to meet beautiful people, and also to bound with other runners, this proves that beyond sports performance, the spirit of the marathon brings other virtues.

There is a very strong connection between the marathon, and the story of some women like Kathrine Switzer, who have found the resources to defend certain human values. See the interview below.

Betty Davis Due to Covid 19, the New York marathon has been postponed to the year 2021.

Najib Ben Said,

the painter and the sculptor : A wandering soul in search of Art He left the capital of the “Zibans” (Biskra) where he was born in 1958, to join the one in the “Aurès” (Batna). His homeland provided fertile ground for his creativity, first as a student and teacher, then as a confirmed artist. Art since its birth His love for art (painting more precisely) was passed on to him by his older brother, as well as his family. Ben Saïd affirms that «art appears over time, then passion comes along. Early on in his brother’s footsteps, the artist evolved and developed his art, making Batna his muse, Nadjib, in fact, wanted to pay tribute to the city which saw it grow through a plethora of artistic creation representing it in all its splendor.

Rodin and the desire to paint Fascinated and influenced by Auguste Rodin, painter and father of modern sculpture, Nadjib was taken by the desire to reproduce one of his works, to which he had great admiration. But his growing passion for art was curbed, when he had to leave Batna to continue his studies in Algiers the capital’

The Renaissance The break was long, however, since it took him several years to reconnect with art and regain the desire to paint. Moreover, his reconciliation with brushes and colors was made possible thanks to the reproduction of the work of «Rodin» which he wanted to achieve by implementing it. This reproduction gave him back his taste for painting and even helped to give free rein to his creativity, far from any artistic conformism. 3

Glamour fashin & beauty

New Horizons Like his idol «Rodin», Ben Saïd the painter wanted to be a sculptor to give relief to his works. This is how he came up with the idea of uniting his passion for two arts and making one of unparalleled beauty. His first sculpture, the most dear to his heart, is a depiction of motherhood, which originated in his hometown.

The excellence and independence made by the sand of the Algerian Sahara It is the technique known as natural sand in plastic, art that allowed the artist to combine his two passions. A technique that Ben Said is working to develop through several works to make it one in its own right, which occupies a large place in the Algerian art.

54

Nadjib’s Love for Art has never stopped growing, critics have failed to alter it, let alone the destruction of some of his sculptures. His love and passion for art remains intact, even as he faces the problem of the «occasional» that threatens him. For ben Said, an artist who only produces at trade shows to ´ occasional events is doomed to disappear. In addition, the plastic artist, considers that the attribution of an artist card under conditions is an insult to the artists who have art in their DNA and who define themselves through their works and not a piece of paper. which is a proof of their identity. On the other hand, the artist poses the problem of attribution of artistic projects on the occasion of cultural events. An attribution that is done in total opacity, according to our interlocutor.

Art or math: the impossible choice Ben Said, the math teacher always said «If I had to choose between art and math, I would choose both».

Artist you are and you will remain Far from being discouraged by the many stumbling blocks that try to stop the development of art, Ben said Nadjib says he will continue his fight for its development through prolific production and the organization of his own exhibitions.

Back to basics Anxious to preserve the artistic heritage of his adopted city, Nadjib ben Saïd pleads for the construction of a museum intended for Batnean artists, so that they can leave their imprints for future generations, like « Mohamed Demagh ”, an artist sculptor who did not have this opportunity.

www.glamourfashionandbeauty.com

An impossible choice for the artist who considers that the two disciplines are not incompatible, they are even complementary. It is also thanks to mathematics that the plastic artist was able to discover hidden talents which were not intended to invest in the world of art and which ended up integrating it under the watchful eye of their teacher. She discovers very early the joys and the pleasure of running, without knowing that this discipline will lead her to paths full of surprises. If you’re not sure what to do yet, let yourself be guided by Flo’s itinerary.

When I started this discipline, I had no idea that I was going to draw all this strength and energy from it. I’ve always run out of love and passion. I participated in competitions to win and obtain titles when I was younger. Over time, my perception of sport has changed. Since living in the United States, I’ve learned to overcome these limits of fear, especially when you’re in a big country like the United States where fear is bigger, how it works? Once you’ve crossed that threshold, your mind gradually opens up to a new culture. You end up adapting, especially since this country is welcoming. A double culture to open up to the world Use its cultural wealth and its language to open up to the world. I have learned to be more organized and spend a lot of time training, because I believe that there is no success without work and effort. Despite the vicissitudes of life, Flo reconciles professional and private

with a certain brilliance, which is not always obvious in such a demanding world! It is in this state of mind that this athlete is transformed into a formidable competitor who goes from marathon to marathon, forging a foolproof mentality, while keeping this softness and this elegance which characterizes her. Charity and humanitarian aid I also help charities and associations that fund cancer research, as well as other diseases, famine and poverty around the world. So far, positive results have been achieved. Since 2016 I participated in six marathons , in 2018 I participated in Berlin, Chicago, and New York marathons within 50 days. As for this year, I was going to participate in London and New York marathons, in the near future I wish to participate in Algeria. All successful projects I accomplished, the decisions I have made, the art exhibitions I have seen, the discipline I have acquired www.glamourfashionandbeauty.com

and the culture of respect for others, have allowed me to open up to a greater knowledge of the world and people. I wish everyone could be able to learn from others but unfortunately the wind does not always blow in the direction we want . We do not know what fate has in store for us, but life also offers great opportunities which sometimes have to be seized. I studied Anchology in Algeria and obtained a technical certificate in public health, which specializes in public care. Now I work real estate. Many people use age as a an excuse, they stop halfway through their activity, while they still have a lot to contribute and pass on. The mental and physical states are the most important elements that drive us forward. This is what I often say to children and people I meet during these demonstrations, age is not an excuse to stop doing what we want to do . The older generation works miracles on the ground, and in other areas, through their own experiences. Flo Medjdoub

The cinematographic ceremony of the year since 1929, Los Angels has offered us its annual cinema ceremony, which awards prizes intended for American and international cinema productions. All these distinctions represent the professions of cinematographic creation (directing, interpretation, scenario, technique) that the Association of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences directs.

The Academy Awards have once again recognized the best achievements and artistic works of the past year. According to its own principles and rules, the Los Angels Committee opens this competition to films from around the world, which are distributed the year before the ceremony. This practice, which promoted American and English-language films, has evolved since the end of the Second World War by offering an Oscar for best film in foreign language. To date, there have been very few films that have not been funded by Americans and have been awarded the Oscar for Best Film. There was «The Last Emperor» in 1988 by Bernardo Bertolucci (Italian film co-produced with China and the United Kingdom) and the French feature film «The Artist» in 2012.

A wind from South Korea has blown over Hollywood This year, the awards go to the Korean Bong JoonHo for his film “Parasite”. He becomes the first artist in his country to obtain this distinction, for a non-English-language feature film. Completely shot and produced in Korea, it won both the Oscar for best film and the trophy for best international film. This thriller which speaks of social inequalities in a rather satirical way, has won over the international public with a topical subject that is felt almost everywhere in the world. Already rewarded at the last Cannes festival with the Palme d’Or and the Golden Globe for the best foreign language film, the Korean Bong Joon-Ho thus confirms his previous nominations, with the success of his film. This is the first time that a South Korean film has obtained this double distinction in Hollywood, but also in the Sceen Actors Guild, and Bafta, which have rewarded British cinema, the equivalent of the Cesars in France. The other awards go to Renée Zellweger, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her remarkable portrayal of Hollywood icon Judy Garland in the film «Judy». A second statuette for the actress who won the Oscar for best supporting role in 2004 for «Return to Cold Mountain». The Oscar for Best Actor goes to Joaquin Phoe68 Glamour fashin & beauty

nix, for his role as anti-hero in «Joker» by Todd Philips. This thriller released in 2019 is a great success. It tells the story of Arthur Fleck who turns into a dangerous psycho killer, becoming Batman’s greatest enemy. He received the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival 2019, after having triumphed at the 2019 Golden Globes. Brad Pitt was slated to receive the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, with his interpretation of stuntman Cliff Booth in «Once Upon a Time in Hollywood» by Quentin Tarantino. This is a first for Brad Pitt in an interpretation category, having missed the boat three times. It is with a certain emotion that he evokes his beautiful and long career, and the memory of his arrival in Hollywood, when Ridley Scott offers him this role in «Thelma and Louise» in 1991. A great reward for the worthy successor of Robert Redford, another Hollywood film legend.

Actress Laura Dern receives the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Noah Baumbach’s «Marriage Story» as a birthday present for her 53 years. She plays wonderfully the role of a mischievous and manipulative lawyer who gradually leads us into the daily life of this couple. The actress, who has already won five Golden Globe awards, has never received an Oscar. After a long career that she started very young in the 1980s, she finally received an award for all of her work in Hollywood.

Homage to the Last Sacred Monster in Hollywood Cinema A major American film legend, Kirk Douglas passed away on February 5, 2020, at the age of 103. He is one of the most gifted and popular actors of his generation. Actor, producer, director, and writer, Kirk Douglas who is also the father of actor Michael Douglas, has worked with many well-known directors, such as Brian De Palma, Stanley Kubrick among others. Robert Conrad

Many of his films have become classics of Hollywood cinema. He interpreted cult roles of adventurers like «Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea» in 1954, the «Vikings» in 1958, remarkable in this memorable western «Settlement of accounts at OK Corral» in 1957, or in the peplum «Spartacus In 1960. The list would be too long to sum up in a few titles, so successful was Kirk Douglas’ career. Glamour Fashion and Beauty wanted to pay a singular tribute to this great actor who marked the history of Hollywood cinema, recognizable by his dimple under the chin, as well as another icon of American television Robert Conrad, deceased February 8, 2020 at the age of 84. The famous actor in the Mysteries of the West TV series «The Wild Wild West» who played the role of James West, with his sidekick Artemus Gordon, actor Ross Martin. Two secret agents who have to face all the dangers, as well as in «The Burned Heads» where he plays the role of an officer of the American army. From television to cinema, the Academy Awards represent the oldest institution in the

world of media and entertainment. Certain actors and actresses present at this ceremony, were not nominated nor Oscar winners. However, the Academy Awards remain the largest film industry in the world. Even if sometimes the choices can be controversial. The fact remains that the Academy Awards in terms of performance in the United States, are present in the fields of music with the (Grammy Awards), television with the (Emmy Awards) and theater with the ( Tony Awards). Parasite

A success and an amazing story “Parasite” continues to win the distinctions, after being awarded the Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Festival 2019, the prize for the best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes, here it is, winning four Oscars (best screenplay, best international film) , best director, and best foreign language film) in 2020. As soon as it was released, all the indexes showed encouraging signs, it is a first and a record for an Asian film. With Korean distribution and production, «Bong Joon-Ho» takes us with great intelligence and subtlety into the universe of two completely opposite families. In this synopsis, the fate of these two families will intersect in a rather surprising way. The Ki-Taek family, from a disadvantaged background, is interested in the wealthy Park family whose lifestyle is very different from theirs. One fine day, one of the sons of the Ki-Taek family managed to get recommended to give English lessons to one of thePark members. An unfortunate incident will occur mixing the two families in a strange story. From this moment, a succession of facts will lead the two families in a funny spiral.

Thus, we understand better the success of this film which has won all cinematographic awards of the moment , which rivals the big American productions. A nod to the one who defends this cause marvelously and whose perhaps shows us the new way to follow.
