Wounded by the Broadway critics and mourning the death of his lover of fourteen years, he has become dependent on the care of paid companions: a group of handsome hustlers. Psycho-active drugs are taken in copious amounts to fend off ever present panic: amphetamines are injected to counter-act the effects of sedatives and sleeping pills. This is the hallucinatory world of Elysian Fields. Hotel rooms morph into cells where Tennessee must confront his worst fear; confinement and his ghost haunted past.
Like Lear I wander tempests under most unquiet self I'm a shaky schizophrenic I have lost my mental health I am looking for my sister She's a dead Cordelia girl She was named for the Roses She's a perfumed flower killed If you see her wont you tell her How I seek her in my self How I miss her how I grieve her How I lost my mental health If you see her wont you tell her Only she can guide me back to the garden of our childhood And the world before it cracked.
