LINIAR INCREASES CAPACITY WITH THE OPENING OF £3 MILLION MIXING PLANT

Liniar, the UK’s leading PVCu systems company and a subsidiary of Quanex, is prepared for further growth with the opening of its new state-of-the-art mixing plant in Denby, Derbyshire.

Officially opened by Scott Zuehlke, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and Mark Livingston, Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller from the Quanex Senior Leadership Team, the new £3 million facility mirrors the footprint of Liniar’s existing PVCu mixing plant. The two mixing plants will run in tandem using the very latest technology to seamlessly switch between rigid and foam PVCu mixes for optimum efficiency.

Home-improvement specialist Clearview Home Improvements has received the nationally recognised CHAS (The Contractor’s Health and Safety Scheme) accreditation as part of its ongoing commitment to deliver excellence in the sector.

CHAS offers third-party accreditation to ensure that its service focuses on improving health and safety.

Clearview has been awarded the Principal Contractor status, which places the North West installer of windows, doors and living spaces, alongside major housebuilders and giants of the construction sector as a leader in its field.

“This is a fantastic achievement for the company,” begins Richard Ashley, Clearview’s Contracts Director.

“It demonstrates to homeowners that our practices are second-to-none and that when we work on their properties, we do so in a regulated and safe manner. We’re one of a handful of companies in our field with this leading accreditation.

Richard continues: “And, it’s only the beginning of an ongoing process to ensure that Clearview is the leader regarding quality and health and safety within the fenestration and construction sectors.”

To gain the accreditation, Cleaview has to undergo a rigorous, 20-point assessment of its existing Health and Safety practices, specifically regarding staff training, best practice policies and live site audits.

Becoming CHAS accredited follows after Clearview was named as the Installer of the Year at the G-Awards, the glass and glazing sector’s most prestigious awards ceremony.

“It has been a fantastic couple of months for Clearview. We take pride in this receiving and gaining these independently assessed awards and certifications,” adds Richard. “They are proof of the quality of work and service that Clearview provides and are a real benefit to staff and customers alike.”

To make meaningful and sustainable progress however, companies need to open up the stakes for others to get a chance to win.”

Kolorseal Ltd is therefore removing itself from the NFA nominations stage with Deborah believing that stepping away from the competition, while the company is at the top, is both necessary and the right thing to do moving forward.

Deborah concludes, “As nominees, Kolorseal has had a great experience, winning four NFA accolades, which demonstrates that all our accomplishments and success stories have been recognised.

The whole team is very grateful to those who have nominated us again and to those who voted for us over the years. Now is the time for a graceful exit from the NFA race and it will be very exciting to see who wins this category at this year’s event.”

Kolorseal is an award-winning, colour coating specialist with a niche target audience in the fenestration and building sectors.

The build and fit-out, which took just over ten months, has been delivered on time and on budget by Liniar’s internal project team and the twin mixing plants now offer the largest PVCu mixing capacity in Europe. The ongoing investment in Liniar’s plant and machinery means the systems company can continue on its path of sustainable, steady growth whilst maintaining an industry-leading 99% OTIF rate across its loyal customer base.

Martin Thurley, Group Managing Director says: “The completion of our new mixing plant allows us to increase capacity and enhance operational flexibility – both of which ensure we can continue our growth plans without compromising on either safety or customer service. Building in additional headroom ahead of the requirement to do so is a proven business model for Liniar and helps to assure Liniar’s continued customer service excellence as output increases.

“I’m delighted the timing has worked to enable Scott and Mark to perform the official opening ceremony for the new mixing plant. Quanex’s support enables us to continue to make further investments in our facilities, teams and logistics, all with sustainability in mind to reach our Net Zero target.”

Martin concludes, “I’d also like to give a special mention to the Liniar team that managed this important project. 2022 has been another year with lots of external supply chain pressures to navigate, many of which could have easily affected the deadlines. With a well-executed plan, they have not only delivered our world-class mixing facility on time and on budget, they’ve achieved this with virtually no disruption to the wider Liniar team and site.”

Liniar is already embarking on the next phase of its site expansion with the addition of a 350,000 sq. ft warehouse and manufacturing facility during 2023. This will further enhance Liniar’s marketleading customer service whilst bringing employment opportunities to the area.
