Roofing, Renovations & New Build
THE SOLID CHOICE FOR CONSERVATORY ROOFS
Dodworth based SOL Conservatory Roofs are proud to announce the launch of their brand new solid roof system, SOLid.
Thermally efficient and fitter friendly, it’s the perfect choice for installers looking to maximise their offering to homeowners and be part of this ever-growing roof trend. Designed to work with new build conservatories and roof replacement projects alike, SOLid features a lightweight aluminium ring beam that seamlessly fits over window frames, over-soffit ventilation for increased air flow and 150mm insulation for thermal efficiency. Fitter friendly features include pre-positioned nuts and pre-installed laths meaning less time on site, with less disruption and inconvenience for customers. Homeowners can have the ultimate choice when choosing the final look of their brand new solid roof conservatory or conservatory roof replacement, with a variety of tile colours available in both slate and shingle – plus a soffit assembly allowing for external lighting. Also a brand new addition to the SOL product range, SOLsirius features the same innovative solid roof technology as SOLid, but with full height glazing panels, to give consumers the best of both worlds. Group Managing Director, Steve Taylor said “with the incredible growth that we have seen over the last few years, along with the construction of our Dodworth based roof factory, it made complete sense that the next step would be the development of our own roof system. After navigating successfully through a very unpredictable 12 months, we have come out the other side stronger than ever and now is the perfect time to bring our fantastic new product to market” With a £2.5million state-of-the-art factory solely dedicated to roof production, SOL Conservatory Roof combines slick manufacturing with a solid supply chain, so that even the most complex of projects can be turned around in industry-leading timescales. Providing a one-stop shop, all window and doors orders are fulfilled from a second manufacturing site – all delivered on a schedule to suit installers, direct to site. For roof projects, insulated plaster boards and internal finishing materials are also included on deliveries for a guaranteed smooth, trouble-free installation every time. www.solroofs.co.uk | 01226 890 890
LEKA SYSTEMS PARTNERS WITH CHECKATRADE
Leka Systems has just announced a partnership with Checktrade giving Leka installers access to an exclusive Checkatrade membership discount. Leka Systems’ Managing Director, Rhys Hoddinott, said: “We’re delighted to be announcing this partnership because it will enable our installers to secure even more jobs with the UK’s number one trade directory. As a Leka installer and a Checkatrade member you’re really setting your business up for success.”
13 million homeowners used Checkatrade trades last year and homeowners are 3 times more likely to search with Checkatrade than a similar provider. It means Checkatrade helps its members get a steady stream of leads and allows installers to build a reputation as a company that homeowners can trust. Rhys commented: “Checkatrade membership is just another example of
the way we support our installers. We also offer marketing, lead generation and area support all designed to deliver quality leads to a business and help make the most of the market that’s available. And of course, there are our cutting-edge roofing products!” Leka’s range of roofing products includes the Leka solid roofs which offer exceptional thermal efficiency and are up to 40% lighter than other replacement roof solutions. As a result, in most retro-fit projects, the existing conservatory frames are able to take the weight of the Leka roof system without needing additional reinforcement. It means Leka solid roofs are easy to install, typically taking just two or three days, including removing the old conservatory roof. This is around half the time it takes to install a traditional solid roof replacement. The company also offers the Leka Xi modular system. It’s a fast-fitting system that allows installers to tap into the trend for thermally efficient home extensions or freestanding garden rooms. And the Leka orangery roof taps into the growth for lightfilled conservatory rooms. Becoming a Leka Systems’ installer was already a compelling proposition. But having teamed up with Checkatrade, it’s just become even more appealing. Tel: 0800 773 4040 – www.lekasystems.co.uk*New extended product range*

ALL UNDER ONE ROOF WITH MODPLAN
With the continued growth in the conservatory roof market, Heidi Sachs, Managing Director at trade fabricator Modplan caught up with Glass News to discuss why their multiple roofing solutions provide the perfect opportunity for installers to take a strategic advantage.
Spending more time at home as a result of the pandemic lockdowns has sparked a nationwide boom in home renovations. Research indicates that 1.15 million home workers are planning to build an outbuilding, nearly 600,000 plan to build a conservatory and 1.5 million plan to extend their home.
The demand to extend property space comes as little surprise. With Britons facing changes to working practices and a shift to a more hybrid approach, the need to repurpose existing conservatories or create more space through new build extensions or freestanding rooms is clear. Capitalising on the market opportunities means understanding the trends. Today’s consumer is well rehearsed in what they are looking for, so simply offering ‘me-too’ run of the mill products, just won’t cut it. Working with a trade fabricator partner that has the expertise and depth of products you will need to support all project types gives you the competitive advantage you need. At Modplan, we offer one of the largest ranges of conservatory roof products and freestanding buildings to help our customers capitalise on the domestic market boom. And to ensure product reliability, all our roofing solutions are manufactured in-house at our dedicated roofing plant in Abercarn, near Newport, Gwent so we are not reliant on third-party manufacturers. For new build and retrofit solutions our Leka Solid Roof ticks all the boxes. Leka products provide a clean, contemporary solution in a way that other warm roof systems simply can’t match. Leka solid roofs are available in a range of designs including Edwardian, Victorian, Lean-to and orangery styles so there is a roofing solution to suit all conservatory types. And for customers wanting additional light options, glass skylight panels are available that fit seamlessly into the Leka solid roof for further design flexibility and additional upsell value. Leka roofs are up to 40% lighter than other replacement roof solutions. This means that in most retro-fit projects, the existing conservatory frames are able to take the weight of the Leka roof system without needing additional reinforcement. Aside from their versatility, Leka solid roofs are easy to install, typically taking just two or three days, including removing the old conservatory roof. This is around half the time it takes to install a traditional solid roof replacement. To tap into the demand for freestanding buildings, our Leka Xi modular conservatory solution delivers. The Leka Xi is a modular

conservatory base/wall and it’s two products in one, which gives it excellent versatility. In the three-sided variation, it’s an extension. In the four-sided variation it’s a freestanding garden room. Both options offer the Leka Systems hallmarks: quick to install and incredibly thermally efficient. Leka Xi is typically installed on concrete pads, which eliminates extensive groundworks or foundations. It’s constructed from prefabricated modular sections that simply slot together giving peace of mind that every part of the construction has been factory tested before delivery and it is ideal for sites where access is restricted. The Leka Xi four-part solution consists of the base, the wall assembly, the internal finish and the Leka roof. The base is supplied as a GRP framework structure with supporting feet and the GRP construction means the base is not prone to woodworm or moisture absorption in the way traditional timber is. Neither does it create condensation or lead to thermal bridging in the way the aluminium alternatives might. Internally, a range of finishes are available and the final step is the Leka roof, which consists of a GRP frame, internal Leka boards, insulation sheets, external Leka boards and engineered slate or tile of the homeowner’s choice.
As well as offering the full range of Leka products, we manufacture a complete range of conservatory roofs, so installers can maintain a diverse product portfolio. Our unique Vertex roof is designed to be a versatile and flexible solution. The roof has a one-piece peripheral main beam with integral gutter and can be supplied with a choice of polycarbonate, glass or tile effect panels. It is available in a wide choice of colours to complement the existing buildings’ aesthetics for a high-end finish. Our Wendland roof is an ever-increasing option offering a choice of glass or polycarbonate glazing options. And our Wendland Lantern roof, offers a choice of traditional and contemporary styles with high performance properties. Elsewhere, the LivinRoof gives a more permanent feel to a conservatory. It features a plastered perimeter ceiling with additional layers of insulation. The plastered ceiling can be used to incorporate downlights or even integrated speakers to improve the ambience of the living space. With our Loggia roof solution, homeowners have the perfect compromise between a traditional brick-built extension and a fully glazed conservatory. Inspired by the Italian Renaissance buildings, its unique design provides a stylish aesthetic which remains popular and taps into the trend for highend roofing applications. Finally, our Ultrasky orangery roof has a contemporary, minimalist feel because it features a super-strong ridge and an Ultraspan invisible integrated structural post that means there are fewer bars. It can also be installed in half the time of a traditional orangery, which makes it particularly appealing. Capitalising on the opportunities means understanding the consumer and offering a wide and diverse portfolio to tap into the trends. At the moment, there’s a drive to create more space at home, which means offering home improvement products that help homeowners achieve this quickly and cost-effectively. With Modplan, you have a trade supplier that gives your products you need to support today’s domestic market.
