More work on Glass House park The eight hectare Glass House Mountains District Park in its spectacular natural setting was officially opened in March last year. It includes a barbeque shelter, places to sit and rest, picnic areas, a playground, a dog off-leash area, amenities building and viewing areas to overlook lakes and waterways and Mount Tibrogargan. At the time, division 1 councillor Rick Baberowski said this part of the region had an increasing number of young families and was also an important tourist destination. He said the area needed a wonderful mixed space like the park to help showcase the unique natural environment and that he was looking forward to future stages of the project being completed. Just over 12 months later and Sunshine Coast Council has now appointed a contractor to begin preliminary work this week on stages five and six of the project.

Jason Lemberg, Senior landscape architect with Councillor Rick Baberowski looking at the plan for playground extension The work will include new pathways linking the park from Railway Parade through to Dana Close, a nature trail network with signage explaining the natural environment, a park entry node and structure featuring public art. Local families will be pleased to see additional playground equipment including a 3m tower and rope climbing ladder added to the play area. There will be another picnic shelter with picnic table and seats added as well as park seats, and additional landscaping undertaken. It is anticipated that the work will be completed in October.
