Powell celebrates decade of representing Glass House

LNP Member for Glass House Andrew Powell has marked ten years in the job with a local celebration.

Family, friends, staff, volunteers and supporters gathered in Beerwah recently to mark the significant milestone, which Mr Powell described as a special occasion for him and his family.

“It was wonderful to celebrate ten years as Member for Glass House with so many people who’ve supported me along the way,” Mr Powell said.

“These days, ten years in politics is an extraordinary amount of time, especially in a marginal seat like Glass House.

“Members of Parliament come and go, seats are won and lost and boundary redistributions can eradicate seats altogether.

“To have successfully contested four elections is an incredible privilege and honour.”

The celebrations are set to continue as Mr Powell will host four free community barbeques across the electorate including two in the Glasshouse Country and Maleny area between 5-6pm on Monday, November 4 in Tesch Park, Maleny and Thursday, November 21 at Settler’s Rotary Park, Glass House Mountains.

“There is no need to RSVP – just rock up," Mr Powell said.

“I look forward to seeing as many familiar faces and meeting as many new faces as possible and hearing their concerns and thoughts about Glass House and Queensland."
