Beerburrum upgrade starts Beerburrum is one step closer to becoming the gateway to the Glass House Mountains trail network. In mid-2018, Sunshine Coast Council asked for community feedback on a draft project to develop part of the Parrot Park Environmental Reserve in Beerburrum to create what council called a “trailhead facility”. The project, a cooperation between council and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, will see the development of a new park for locals and visitors to use when setting off on trail walks into the surrounding national parks and reserves network. Locals will now see that project spring to life, with construction work starting on the trailhead entry and Parrot Park carpark. Stage one of the works will create 17 new carparking spaces and establish a formalised entry to the Beerburrum trail network. Local councillor Rick Baberowski is excited that the works have started. “The 17 new parking bays will allow the community and visitors to park vehicles within close proximity to the school, Beerburrum trails and surrounding shops,” Cr Baberowski said. “Included in the scope of works will be the allinclusive trailhead entry area with an exciting new art screening area to be painted by Beerburrum State School students. The art work will have an Aboriginal theme.

“The trailhead entry itself will include a new sandstone block yarning circle, adjacent stone seating area, picnic tables and seats, new park entry signage and information board, additional boulders, drinking fountain with dog bowl, large turfed area, bike racks, a general waste bin, planting and landscaping,” Cr Baberowski said. “I am especially excited to see the entry for the Beerburrum trailhead commence - a first for our region. As always, thanks in advance for your patience during the works.” Works are scheduled to take three months, weather permitting, finishing in June. Maleny Credit Union members must vote again to deliver community benefits
Dear members, As you know, the proposed transaction with Firstmac Holdings Limited has received overwhelming support from members, with a 96% yes vote in the postal ballot. This means we have cleared the first hurdle but it is important to remember that members still have one more step to take before we can realise the benefits of this transaction for the community. That step is to vote at the upcoming scheme meeting and demutualisation meeting. There are two ways to vote. • You can attend the two meetings of MCU members that will be held at the Maleny Community Centre, 23 Maple Street, Maleny on April 30 (5.30pm start). • You can appoint the chair of the scheme and demutualisation meetings (or another person of your choosing) to cast your vote as your proxy. The participating directors encourage you to lock in your vote now by appointing the chair of the meetings to cast your vote so there is no risk of missing your opportunity. You should have received your scheme booklet and proxy voting instructions in the mail. If you haven’t, please contact our branch. The directors and employees of MCU are working hard to ensure that we are ready for the next stage of the proposed transaction and we are pleased to report that everything is on track! We are looking forward to unlocking the benefits for the community including: • A $2 million donation for the Maleny Charitable Trust and a large ongoing donation for at least a decade • A dividend for each member • $1 to member investment shareholders for each of their shares • A guarantee that the Maleny branch will continue to operate for the next 10 years and all staff will keep their jobs MCU recommends that you vote YES for Firstmac to acquire MCU because it guarantees a future for sustainable banking in Maleny.
