Dylan Johnson

Emerging jazz artists and Maleny High School students Dylan and Shelby Johnson will compete against other young talent in a special Youth ‘n’ Jazz Bursary competition on Saturday, November 23.

Proudly sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club, the finals for the bursary, which involves total prize money of $3,000, will take place at the Pelican Room, Caloundra Powerboat Club.

Believing that youth are our future, the committee of the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club is thrilled to be supporting young local musical talent and hope that establishing the award will encourage the exciting youth talent of the region.

Billed as a family friendly day out, the finals will kick off at 1.30pm and jazz lovers, families and friends of the finalists are invited to come along to show their support for these aspiring next generation jazz artists.

Each of the finalist will be backed by the musicianship of Inspiration Point, a band led by Russell Bayne on guitar and vocals, John Conley on double bass and bass guitar, Will Sargisson on keyboard and Pat Robins on drums and vocals.

The young competitors will be judged by a panel of respected musical professionals from around the state. Tickets are just $20 for a family (up to four members) and $10 for adults.

Bookings can be made online via www.sunshinecoastjazzclub.net.au/bookings, by phoning Richard on 0427 782 960 (credit card facility available) or president Julie on 0412 789 957.

Come along to support the artists of the future at a fun afternoon to chill-ax, enjoy and listen.
