Sue Neilen of Beerwah Flowers and Gifts is gearing up for a busy few days and encourages those seeking red roses to pre-order soon to avoid disappointment.

Sue is now the only florist in store and with a limited number of red roses arriving, it’s best to get in quick!

“Our suppliers have a stock shortage due to recent extreme weather so unfortunately red roses will be scarce this year,” she said.

“While I have limited stock coming in, we will have a number of coloured roses and alternatives that are just as beautiful."

Sue said lilies, gerberas, carnations and natives were some wonderful alternatives and, depending on what is available, she can incorporate these alongside a few roses. With the skill and passion for creating beautiful bunches, Sue can create the

perfect arrangement for you. In fact, it took her only a few minutes to create the beautiful bunch she’s holding in this photo.

“We do offer alternatives but without being able to communicate directly with the customer, it can be disappointing if they don’t receive what is pictured online,” she said.

While flowers may be prepared locally when you order through an online company, often the retailers receive only a percentage of the sale, with the companies taking 40-60% of the money the customer pays.

Maleny winemakers dinner
