LAHC ESD teacher conference and workshops

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in our schools Thursday 19th & Friday 20th August, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at Hiram Bingham School (Lima, Peru)

ESD: creating sustainable environments, sustainable economies and sustainable societies through the school Curriculum, Campus and Community. You are invited to attend this conference, which will offer practical workshops on how to develop ESD in our schools. Conference leader: Tom Jolly, international ESD specialist, GlobalEd Director. There will be: • Plenary sessions covering: an ESD policy, strategy and audits, how to coordinate ESD inset days in your school, case studies, and carbon balancing. • Workshops based on the 8 doorways: food and drink, energy and water, travel and traffic, purchasing and waste, buildings and grounds, inclusion and participation, local well-being and global dimension. • A lunch exhibition where schools and specialist groups will exhibit good ESD practice from their schools. • Sustainable coffee breaks and lunch provided. • An attempt to carbon neutralise the event through a live link to Huaraz where a tree planting project is in action. A full programme will be shortly published. Language: English Costs (include all lunch and food/beverages for each day): LAHC schools: US$45 per participant Non-LAHC schools: US$75 per participant Spaces are limited to 60 people in total.
