The Washington Conservatory of Music at Glen Echo Park is one of the 15 nationally accredited community and precollegiate music schools in the United States. Since 1984, WCM has served students of all ages and levels through individual lessons, classes, and ensembles. Private Piano Lessons

Children, teens and adults - beginners, intermediate, and advanced - may enroll in 30 minute, 45 minute or one hour weekly piano lessons, with highly credentialed and performing artist faculty. No audition required. Learning piano is a great basis for learning music in general, and to prepare for playing other instruments. Guidance is happily provided to students of all ages in choosing instruments for private study to meet each individual’s goals. Instrumental Ensembles

Classical and jazz ensembles are arranged on a weekly basis for students of similar age and ability. Call: 301.320.2770. Minimum 5 weekly to maximum 15 weekly classes.

Concerts and Events

Concerts and special events for children, families, and adults are offered by Washington Conservatory performing artist faculty members and guests at various times throughout the year both online and in person when it is safe to do so. For information: washingtonconservatory.org and 301.320.2770.

Chamber Music Coaching for Preformed Ensembles

In-person chamber music coaching for beginning, intermediate, or advanced preformed ensembles are arranged on an individual basis. Coaching with performing artist faculty is provided for amateur chamber music ensembles who would like to refine their ensemble playing or work on specific repertoire. Conservatory of Music Ignite the musical spark in your child. The Washington Conservatory’s performing ensemble teaches age- appropriate vocal techniques for proper breath support, projection, pitch, and phrasing. Conservatory of Music For ages 3 months to 2 years with a caregiver. Tap into your child’s magical sense of wonder. Our youngest musicians will enjoy singing, moving, and playing instruments to help awaken the basic sense of pitch and rhythm during this critical early stage of development. Class includes classical, Broadway, folk, pop, jazz and children’s favorites. Weekly lesson plans offer both repeated and new musical elements to enhance motor skills and develop a joyful love of music for all! Class is designed with a multi-year curriculum. Discover the magical world of music through a range of styles from famous symphonies to jazz, folk, popular and other classical compositions. Level 2 builds a strong foundation for further musical growth. Learn the basic elements of music through singing, percussion instruments, and dance. Includes an intro to ear training using solfege syllables. Students learn to recognize pitch and create rhythmic patterns and develop tempo awareness. Washington Conservatory of Music Every country and type of music uses different rhythms. Rhythm is the heartbeat of music. Mainly using the “instrument” of the wildly popular US ensembles - Bucket Bands- we will have fun as we produce rhythms of the world, with our hands, with sticks and with other modes of rhythm-making, and mainly using call and response.
