The engine was rebuilt by a previous owner and from the MOTs it would suggest that the engine has only done a few thousand miles. The vendor’s husband, now deceased, fastidiously maintained the E-Type to a very high standard in his well equipped garage, with the help of professional Jaguar mechanics, therefore the history file only contains a few maintenance receipts, past MOTs and a DVLA record of MOTs and mileage. This E-Type coupé, which has benefitted from long term enthusiastic ownership, now awaits a new owner to cherish her in the same way as the previous owner. V5C, MOT to August 2014, taxed See illustrations £24000 - 26000

This automatic example is finished in silver with a blue leather interior and blue mohair soft top. It has recently been recommissioned and MOTs after five years of inactivity. Finished in the great colour combination of tungsten grey with a tan leather interior, with walnut dashboard and centre console. It comes with all the usual luxury refinements for the time, including automatic transmission, air conditioning, electric windows, power assisted steering, central locking and alloy wheels. The vendor has used the Jaguar very sparingly over the last few years, covering just a few hundred miles each year, and with a house move on the cards and the last MOT expiring on the 18th March 2013, he has reluctantly taken the decision to sell the car. Offered for auction with past MOTs, some service receipts, owners handbook and certificate of registration book. This very low mileage example of Jaguar’s 1980s flagship model now awaits a new enthusiast owner to lavish care and attention on this big cat. Lot 160 160 A 1961 Austin Healey Mk I Frog Eye Sprite, registration number 328 XUU, old English white. This all steel Frog Eye Sprite was originally registered with the registration number 938 PKE, on the 3rd of May 1961. It has had four previous owners, before the current vendor purchased the charming little Sprite in 2005. Restored to a high standard by a previous owner, the little Frog Eye is finished in the traditional colour scheme of old English white coachwork, with a maroon vinyl interior with white piping, and a touch of luxury is added in the form of a Moto-Lita wood rim steering wheel. The weather gear is taken care of with a maroon vinyl soft top, full tonneau cover and side screens. During the current ownership the Sprite has been maintained to a high standard, with numerous receipts for general servicing and maintenance. Currently the correct 948 cc engine is running on a single 1.5 inch SU carburettor, but the original twin carburettors and manifold accompany the car. Also the front bumper has been removed to give the Sprite a more purposeful look, but once again the bumper is supplied with the car should the next owner wish to reinstate it. The history file contains past MOTs from 1982 when the mileage was recorded at 51,961 miles (the current reading of 53,842 means that the diminutive Sprite has covered less that 2,000 miles in 21 years), maintenance receipts from 2005, past tax discs, magazines, SORNs and general correspondence. Frog Eye Sprites have seen a sharp rise in value and popularity in recent years, and this well restored and presented example should not be missed by an enthusiast looking to acquire one of these charming sports cars. V5C, MOT to March 2014, tax exempt See illustrations ÂŁ9500 - 10500

This very late model Classic Range Rover is fitted with the economical diesel engine, mated to a five speed manual gearbox. It is attractively finished in light metallic green with a light tan cloth interior. The vendor informs us that the Rangy has survived in remarkable rust free condition, having resided for the majority of its life in Portugal, before moving to Jersey and coming to these shores earlier this year. The interior has been partially restored with a new headlining, but would be further enhanced with the refurbishment of the front seats. The engine has been recently decoked and painted. The history file contains a run of old MOTs from 1989, which indicate that the diminutive Morris has travelled just over 2,000 miles in 24 years, maintenance receipts, old tax discs, correspondence between a previous owner and the DVLA to retain the original registration number and photographs of the Morris during restoration. This great alternative to an Austin Seven, now awaits a new owner with the bonus of MOT and tax free motoring. V5, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations ÂŁ6000 - 6500 26
Lot 163 163 A 1967 Vanden Plas Princess 4 litre R, formerly used by Prime Minister Harold Wilson MP, registration number SMF 594F, black. This Vanden Plas Princess has had a more illustrious career than the usual large Austin having seen service with Prime Minister Harold Wilson and his successor Margaret Thatcher during her election campaign. The Princess was first registered to the Ministry of Public Buildings Works in 1967 and would remain in service until it was decommissioned in 1978, and sold to the second owner, a Mr Frank Grant from Louth, Lincolnshire, who retained the car as part of a private collection until March 2013 when the current vendor purchased it from the deceased’s estate. Finished in ministerial black with a sumptuous grey leather interior which has a lustrous walnut dashboard, door cappings and picnic tables (just the thing for Mr Wilson to eat his sandwiches and drink his cup of tea from?). Further refinements include automatic transmission with quick start (enabling a quick getaway in possible terrorist threat situations), wing mirrors, rear seatbelts, radio and power assisted steering. All of the items mentioned would be taken for granted by today’s motorists, but back then they would be the height of luxury. It is believed that the recorded mileage of just over 7,500 miles is genuine. Offered for auction with the original RF60, radio manual, past MOTs and a charming press photograph of Harold and his father standing next to the car at Heathrow Airport waiting to take off for Australia on 21st August 1971. This car may have been privy to some very exciting conversations between some of the most influential politicians of the 20th century, it can only be imagined what discussions took place on that grey leather bench seat. Opportunities to purchase cars with such intriguing provenance rarely become available and this car should not be missed to add to an important private collection or museum. V5C, no current MOT, tax exempt See front cover and other illustrations £15000 - 18000

Lot 164 164 A 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 coupé, registration number PPA 507E, chassis number 4E 52619, engine number 7E 52661-9, Signal red. In the current ownership since 1991, PPA 570E, rolled off the Browns Lane production line on 7th December 1966, destined for Henleys showroom in London where it was registered to the new owner in 1967, and cost a not inconsiderable £2,245 9 shillings and 9d. Little is known of this original right hand drive manual home marked EType’s early history until Dr Jeremy Young owned the car during the 1980s, both in England and America. There are receipts on file for works carried out when Dr Young lived in Pasadena, Maryland, USA. During Dr Young’s ownership the Jaguar carried the registration number GDJ 386X from 1982 to 1992, when the original registration number PPA 570E was reinstated. At some point in the car’s life, the body colour was changed from the originally supplied dark blue to the current Signal red, but the change had occurred prior to the current vendor purchasing the Jaguar from A J Sutton, Staple Cottage, Blackberry Lane, Lingfield, Surrey on the 1st March 1991 for £13,000 (receipt on file). Since acquiring the E-Type, the vendor has lavished considerable sums of money, time and effort to bring this E-Type up to an excellent standard. Notable works carried out during his ownership include an interior re-trim in 1997 by Mike Thomas for £2,937.50, a body refurbishment and bare metal respray by Gary Dockree in 1998 for £4,000, an engine overhaul in 1998, including the cylinder head being converted for unleaded petrol, a suspension rebuild in 1999 and numerous other items too numerous to mention here. Handsomely presented in Signal red with a grey leather interior, which still retains its original radio. The body is fitted with a full length Webasto sunroof, which has been a great feature to have during this exceptionally warm summer and she sits on chrome wire wheels with recently replaced tyres. Offered for auction with a comprehensive history file from 1991, with maintenance receipts for tens of thousands of pounds, past MOTs, Jaguar Heritage certificate, original Jaguar radio owners guide, an original E-Type service manual, parts lists, V5 and V5C. Description a) All lots are sold and purchased ‘as seen’. A vehicle sold ‘as seen’ is sold and purchased for what it is and with all its faults (if any) and without any condition, warranty or other term (whether expressed or implied and whether implied by statute, common law, custom or otherwise) as to the age, description, mileage, suitability, fitness for purpose, merchantable quality or roadworthiness of the vehicle. b) Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the description of each lot, but these, whether made orally or in the catalogue, are expressions of opinion and not representations of fact. Illustrations whether in the catalogue, on the web site, or sent by email are solely for guidance and must not be relied upon in any manner whatsoever. Most lots are of an age and nature which precludes their being in pristine condition. The condition of any lot and the nature of any damage and/or restoration should be confirmed by the buyer by examination prior to the sale. All prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves as to the condition, colour, age and all other matters relating to any lot and no claims will be accepted in respect of any such matter. c) Each buyer by making a bid for a lot acknowledges that he has satisfied him or herself fully as to the condition of the lot. If any damage is done to any lot at the viewing or before, during or after the sale, such damage shall be made good by the person committing such damage, principals being responsible for the acts of their servants, such damage to be assessed by the auctioneers. d) Whilst every endeavour has been made to ensure that the items lotted in this catalogue will be available and offered for sale in catalogue order, no responsibility can be accepted by the auctioneers for variations and omissions due to circumstances beyond their control. Neither Charterhouse nor the sellers of any lot will accept responsibility for any misrepresentations, misdescriptions or omissions obtained in this catalogue.
11)
Contract of Sale a) On the fall of the hammer, a contract of sale is completed between the seller and the buyer. Charterhouse is not a party to the contract of sale and shall not be liable for any breach thereof by the buyer or the seller. b) If successful in buying a lot, please ensure that your number can be seen by the auctioneer and that it is your number that is called out. Should there be any doubts as to price or buyer, please drawer the auctioneer’s attention to it immediately. Please contact the accounts desk with details of how you will pay. c) The ownership of the lot(s) purchased will not pass to the buyer until the buyer has paid the auctioneers in full the total amount due and the auctioneers have applied such payment to the lot.
12)
Transfer of Risk. Each lot shall be the purchaser’s sole risk from the fall of the hammer and shall be sold with all faults and imperfections, the auctioneer not being responsible for the correct description, genuineness or authenticity of any lot and making no warranty whatsoever. The purchaser is deemed to have inspected the lots and satisfied himself as to their condition.

Commission Bids. If instructed, the auctioneers will execute bids and advise prospective purchasers. This service is free. Lots will always be purchased as cheaply as is allowed by such other bids and reserves as are on the auctioneer’s books. In the event of identical bids, the earliest will take precedence. There must always be a maximum limit indicated, ie the amount to which you would bid if you were attending the auction yourself. "Buy" or unlimited bids will not be accepted. Commission bids placed by telephone are accepted at the client’s risk. We do accept commission bids by facsimile and email, providing they are accompanied by full name and address details. We urge our clients to place such commission bids within one hour of the close of the view day.
14)
Telephone Bids. Requests for telephone bidding must be registered with the Accounts department within one hour of the close of the view day. It may not be possible to accept requests on sale days. Written confirmation of such bids from persons unknown to the auctioneers must be received before the commencement of the sale. Whilst every effort will be made to execute telephone bidding, the auctioneers cannot be held responsible for any default or neglect in connection with this service. All such arrangements therefore are made entirely at the prospective buyer’s risk.
15)
Collection of Goods. All vehicles must be collected by 2.30 pm on Tuesday 10th September. Vehicles not collected by this time will be removed to a compound at Evercreech at a cost of £70.00 + VAT per vehicle. Storage charges will then be levied at £10.00 per vehicle per day or part thereof. Motorcycles not collected by 2.30 pm on Tuesday 10th September will be removed to our head office in Sherborne at a cost of £40.00 + VAT per motorcycle. Automobilia will also be removed to our head office for collection at no charge. Lots will only be released to the buyer or their authorised representative upon presentation of release notes issued by Charterhouse and settlement of any removal, handling and storage charges due. Purchasers are reminded that each lot shall be the purchasers sole risk from the fall of the hammer. Buyers should be aware that no lots will remain at the auction site after 2.30 pm on Tuesday 10th September.
16)
Third Party Liability. Every person on the auctioneers’ premises before, during or after a sale, shall be deemed to be there at their own risk and shall have no claim against the auctioneer or owner of the auction premises in respect of any injury they may sustain or any accident which may occur.
