With the winding down of a communications committee, this page is devoted to being more of an opinion page, where prevailing moods and sentiments of Members on current Club issues, expressed in comments and mails, are echoed. As always, we want to know what’s on your mind, and will always welcome your feedback. RECENTLY, A DECISION WAS MADE TO OFFER BREAKFAST ONLY AT PINKS… Breakfast at Pinks only is a mistake. Do away with the chafing dishes and cook to order as it used to be. TP Appalled by people’s behaviour at Pinks, and disappointed to have to have breakfast there… I am an overseas Member and come to the Club for the Club, not to come to an average hotel. FP While I agree with the economic reasons for having only one venue for breakfast, I do not agree with the argument that economy alone justifies dispensing with breakfast in the old restaurant in a child-free environment. RS No waiters, tables not laid, multiple trips required, no logic to layout, food in chafing dishes cold, table not cleared as food finished, coffee disgusting.AB

MORE GENERALLY Your German sausage has not seen Germany and the saurecraut [sic] was not cooked. It tasted ok as I was very hungry. PE Why is it that there are never any ice-creams in the fridge? Also, never any low-fat milk. RH Not the place it used to be. WR There are only three things wrong with Pinks: 1. Service. 2. Service. 3. Service. DN BUT IT WASN’T ALL BAD… Thank you to the team for a wonderful Red Room dinner… It made for a special evening and a great meal. 13TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING What we saw… …and the Club techies behind the scenes making it happen. MCC’s 13th Annual General Meeting held in at PinksNovember was extremely well attended, thanks to our recently introduced ‘hybrid’ technology which allowed Members from across the globe to attend TO virtually. We had a record number of participants … this year with 579 ‘zooming’ in and 51 Members who attended in person. The four nominated Officers and Committee MORE GENERALmembers were all duly elected or re-elected and the LY seven resolutions under discussion were duly passed. A polite reminder regarding a few points of Club protocol that some Members are ‘over-looking’ BEDROOMS Members leaving the Club must vacate their rooms, remove their belongings and hand the door key to the Front Desk at the Club’s Reception by 10 a.m. on the date of departure, otherwise the rooms will be charged for the following night. Belongings (excluding firearms) may be handed to the Hall Porter or Members' Store for storage. No responsibility will rest with the Club for belongings left in the Club. STAFF/ FIREARMS Members shall ensure that their employees, when on the Club premises, obey any order given by the Secretary. Such employees when attending in the Public Rooms must be properly dressed. Neither Members nor their staff nor guests shall be permitted to carry or bear firearms on the Club premises. Members shall be responsible for ensuring that their staff, (including drivers and bodyguards) shall be confined to the designated parking area. From the Staff… MCC We are most grateful to the Members for your generous contribution towards the Staff Christmas Box. You made a huge difference to the end of our year and we are immensely DIARIES thankful for your support. The Club was 'event full' over the holidays, and given the busy schedule, we were not able to host the Staff Christmas Party, traditionally held in November. This important event has been postponed until 26 January 2023, to celebrate the efforts of all our amazing team. During the party, we would like to have a Raffle Draw with a range of exciting prizes to make it fun for everyone. We respectfully invite you to donate prizes that will go towards our Staff Christmas Draw. Kindly contact the Secretary's Office if you have anything you would like to donate as prize.
