This De Luxe version was first registered on 11th May 1937 in London. She is 10
presented in wonderful oily rag condition with weathered sea green coachwork and a marvellously original green leather interior. Accompanying the Hillman are two MOTs from 1962 and 1963, an expired tax disc from November 1967, a 1937 owner’s instruction manual and the RF60. This wonderful original Hillman is now awaiting a new sympathetic owner to preserve her and would make a superb exhibit at the Dad’s Army camp at the Goodwood Revival meeting. She is reluctantly offered for sale due to a change in circumstances. RF60, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations £2500 - 2800

Lot 150 150 A 1934 Studebaker 25 Dictator Deluxe 6 four door saloon, golden beige with pale beige cloth trim. The car was specially ordered from the Studebaker factory in Canada with RHD steering and supplied to its first owner, a prominent dentist Mr Sidney Godfrey in Guernsey, on 14th July 1934. There have been a total of just five custodians and a believed low mileage of only 38,119 miles since new. This 80 year old car has a great history having been left by Mr Godfrey in Guernsey when he was deported during WWII. He removed the starter motor to prevent the car being requisitioned by the military and on his return after the war, he found his beloved car intact, minus only a couple of leather straps from the interior. The car was kept on Guernsey for nearly 40 years until the previous owner took the car back to Canada where he was then working before returning with the car 16
once again to Guernsey. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a true time-warp, very original vehicle. There is a very, very comprehensive history folder contained in a period leather suitcase which was hand delivered to the previous owner at the St Pierpark Hotel, St Peterport, Guernsey, Channel Islands. This is included with the car and contains some amazing newspaper articles, manuals, handbook, invoices and correspondence. 160 A rare 1961 Ford Classic Consul 315, registration number 2271 RU, spruce green, one of 17 estates converted by coach builders Mr Cassini & Mr Tonola of Hughes of Nairobi. During the summer of 1961, vehicle 109E 18717, a two door Ascot grey Classic saloon rolled off Ford’s Dagenham production line. Designated as a Consul 315 denoting an export model, and in this case it was shipped to Hughes Ltd, Nairobi’s main Ford agents. It was at this point that the car’s history takes a twist, as she was one of 17 Classics converted by Mr Cassini & Mr Tonola, employees of Peter Hughes, into estates. Little is known of the cars history in Kenya. 109E 18717 returned to these shores in 1964 and was registered BLR 298B. The Ford would remain in the Dorset area for the next ten years, registered to a Mr C C Dixon from Gillingham. The next custodian was a Mr James from Southampton, who kept the car from 1974 to 1978. Having heard of the newly formed Ford Classic Owners Club he decided to offer the car for sale. The club member Bob Renshaw then acquired her from a 20
club magazine advert in 1978. He then embarked on a full restoration which was completed by October 1979. At this point the cars colour was changed to Roman bronze. His efforts were rewarded by the car taking pride of place on the club stand at the London Earls Court Classic Car Show the following year. Following on from Bob’s ownership, the next stage of the Classic’s history was taken up by John Cantwell who acquired the Ford in 1992. A second restoration was then embarked upon, with another change in colour to the current spruce green, and was finished in May 1995. The finished car was then featured in Popular Classics May 1995 issue (photocopy of article on file). John kept the car until the current vendor acquired the Ford from John’s widow last year. This ultra rare and well known Consul 315 estate is now in need of further TLC and comes to auction with a comprehensive history compiled by John Cantwell outlining past owners and restorations. 161 A 1965 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III, registration number AHJ 992C, chassis number SJR 437, engine number SR218J, Georgian silver over dark ink blue. Introduced in 1962 the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III would be the final incarnation of the factory bodied standard steel saloons. The introduction of the twin headlamp design was clearly the most obvious departure from the previous model. Further improvements, including repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into a single unit incorporated into the front wings and smaller bumper overriders. Mechanically the specification was very similar to the Bentley S3 Continental with 9.1 compression ratio carburettors, improved power steering and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor to aid fuel consumption. SJR 437 was manufactured during the last year of SIII production. According to photocopies of the build sheets she was originally finished in steel grey and steel blue with a blue hide interior with complementary grey headlining and Ambassador blue carpets. Further special features included full refrigeration (air
conditioning), electric windows, combined blinking and parking lights (above each door pillar), plain Sundym glass and Avon tubeless tyres. After her final inspections she was signed off and despatched to Rippon Bros Ltd who supplied the car to Ross Bros Ltd Ben Rhydding who in turn sold the Silver Cloud to the first owner, a Mr A E Walton. Having spent a number of years abroad SJR 437 is now finished in Georgian silver over dark ink blue with a Saint James red leather interior, and has been restored at sometime in the past. The history file contains photocopies of the original build sheets, MOTs from 2007 indicating that the car has travelled less that 6,000 miles in seven years, a RSAC Motorsport certificate stating that the Rolls Royce successfully climbed the Rest and be Thankful pass during the course of Three Lochs Classic car rally during the 2010 event driven by Captain Robert Lee and an original owners handbook. Lot 162 162 A 1935 Talbot AW75 long wheelbase saloon, registration number FO 3243, chassis number 37434, engine number 1397, blue over black. The 75 was developed from the highly successful 14/45, and with its 2.3 litre six cylinder overhead valve engine, offered roomy, comfortable transport at a competitive price. The Talbot 75 was offered in two wheel base lengths, short, 114 inches, and long, 120 inches, the latter long wheel base chassis the more expensive and substantial being X-braced, featuring semi elliptic front and quarter elliptic rear springs and effective brakes. All models featured the Wilson pre-selector self changing gearbox. This rare long wheelbase AW75 is believed to be the only surviving example of this model on the road today, and was first registered on 23rd July 1935. The surviving RF60 continuation logbook and expired tax discs would indicate that FO 3243 was last used in 1951 and was not taxed again until 1963 when some mechanical repairs were carried out, and an MOT was obtained. The car was subsequently purchased by Mr Derek Allen in 1966 from an advert placed in Motorsport Magazine for Talbot spares. It remained in his possession for the next 40 years on the family farm in dry storage. This remarkably complete and original AW75 long wheel base saloon retains its factory coachwork. The interior is complete and all the original fittings and instrumentation are present. The blue leather upholstery would benefit from some localised repair due to mice damage. FO 3243 was purchased by the current vendor from a Charterhouse auction, and a programme of improvement and recommissioning to bring the car up to a roadworthy standard has been carried out. The coachwork is presented in a wonderful original state of preserved decaying grandeur and it would be hoped that the next custodian will maintain it in the same manner. The vendor informs us that the roof has been restored with Cuban mahogany and West of England cloth, and the sliding sunroof now works correctly. The rest of the interior is as it left the factory, with blue leather upholstery and door cards. The engine, gearbox and back axle have been checked and serviced, the radiator has been recored, the brakes relined and 22
the wheels have been shot blasted and powder coated, and a new exhaust fitted, plus other consumables as necessary in the recommissioning process. On inspection the Talbot started readily and sounded very sporty with its new exhaust. The history file contains expired MOT certificates, receipts from 1963 and the old style continuation logbook. This very original Talbot is now presented in wonderful oily rag condition and is worthy of inclusion in any preservation class event. Lot 163 163 A 1927 Rolls Royce 20hp Park Ward Tourer, registration number YT 7222, chassis number GRJ36, engine number S91, green over black. Rolls Royce announced its new small car in 1922, which was designed to meet the harsher economic climate of the time. They were built with the owner/driver in mind, rather than the larger, luxurious 40/50 models, which were invariably chauffeur driven. Initially available between 1922 and 1925 with the rear brake chassis and three speed gearbox, this was subsequently improved from 1925 with the introduction of front servo assisted brakes and A four speed gearbox, both chassis configurations employed the same 3127cc six cylinder engines. Rolls Royce found the 20hp chassis very popular with clients and 2,940 were sold between 1922 and 1929. GRJ36, an extremely original four brake chassis car, retains its original Park Ward Tourer body, hood, interior, engine and running gear. The car has been in the current family ownership since 1973. At the time of purchase the odometer read 39,350 miles and between 1973 and 1989 rose to 50,000 miles. In 1989 the car was put into dry storage where it remained until recently. GRJ36 was removed from hibernation and a programme of recommissioning has taken place to bring the car back to life for the first time in 25 years. The body is finished in light green over black with a beautifully patinated dark blue leather interior, black canvas hood, tonneau and hood cover. The side screens are present, the rear passengers have the benefit of an Auster screen to protect them when the hood is lowered, and there is a side mounted spare wheel, a large boa constrictor horn and rear trunk fitted. Such original
and low mileage Rolls Royces rarely come on to the market these days and as such they are sought after by collectors. It is hoped that the next custodian will preserve GRJ36 in the same condition and manner as the current owners have. RF60, V5, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations ÂŁ30000 - 35000 23

Lot 164
164 A 1972 Ford Escort Mk I Castrol Evocation rally car, registration number FOP 426L, Castrol racing livery. The vendor informs us, that this car has had a full ground up, nut and bolt restoration, to concours show standard, and has covered a mere 350 miles since the completion of the restoration. The work has been carried out over a ten year period, by a dedicated owner to a very exacting standard of evocation of the original works rally car driven by Roger Clark in the 1970s. This restoration cost in excess of £75,000 to complete, and it is estimated that a similar restoration at today’s values would cost around £120,000 to complete to a similar standard. The history folder contains photographic images of the restoration (CD of around 170 images), which shows the extent of this full and comprehensive restoration, and the high level of workmanship carried out. The specification includes the following: a full race prepared 2 litre twin cam overhead valve engine, with a turbo fitted to a S14 engine, gearbox and axle units, Excedy race clutch, bias pedal box, three inch intercooler, Samco hoses throughout, Greddy turbo elbow intercooler, three inch Janspeed exhaust system, especially made and produced for this car, and a Janspeed exhaust manifold, which is wrapped. Image 10 inch and 13 inch, three piece wheels in gold and silver, shod with Kumo 235/45 13 inch, medium compound tyres. There is an English rear axle with Quaife ATB limited differential set at 3.54 to 1 ratio, RSC Cosworth 24
rear brake callipers, Motorsport Race 4 pot callipers to the front, adjustable TCA’s all round, Bilstein coil over front suspension with alloy hubs, and alloy tops, which are all rose jointed, Spax coil over rear end suspension with anti-dive kit, rear axle running six link system, with Watts linkage (all rose jointed), quick rack fitted with Sparco steering wheel. The vehicle is fitted with goat’s skin and pig’s skin suede interior trim, Cobra seats with slide, lumber and tilt, TRS seat harnesses, ATB dials and sensors, alloy racing fuel tank, high output Walbro fuel pump, a custom made alloy header tank, full Castrol paint livery in white and red Ford Frost white and Castrol rally green. The full specification of this car actually exceeds this description. This is some car indeed, and the vendor confirms that he has driven this car at 145 mph (not on a main road, he hastens to add), and the car had still more power to give! (he chickened out, not the car!). Prices for Mk I Escorts of this calibre have gone through the roof and demand is higher than ever. The original car, at a guess, would be valued in the region of £200,000, and this particular car is an exact replica of the famous works rally car driven by Roger Clark. This is a fantastic car, ready to be enjoyed for fun, historic rallying, or track days, or even could form part of a museum or private car collection. V5C, MOT to March 2015, no current tax See illustrations £32000 - 36000

Lot 165
165 A 1925 Sunbeam 20/60 sports tourer, registration number XX 1700, chassis number 1101E, engine number 1125E, British racing green over black. Sunbeam motorcars have an illustrious racing and land speed record breaking history. In period they were on par with other great marques such as Bentley, Lagonda and Rolls Royce, and now offer the discerning enthusiast and collector outstanding value in today’s market. This particular example started life with Landaulette coachwork. In 1995 1101E was in a dilapidated state and the decision was made to embark on a full chassis up restoration, and in the process a new sports tourer body was made and fitted. During the restorations, which took eight years, 5,628 man hours and nearly £70,000 to complete. The Sunbeam was meticulously restored by marque experts. 1101E is finished in a beautiful dark shade of British racing green with black wings, which was achieved with 20 coats of cellulose, which has endowed the paint with a deep lustre. To complement the coachwork, all of the brightwork has been nickel
plated, and the interior has been retrimmed in tan leather. The weather gear consists of a hood, full and half tonneau covers, side screens and hood bag. The rear seat passengers have the luxury of an Auster screen to shield them from the elements and a full width mahogany picnic table allows alfresco dining in style. The chassis, engine and running gear have all been restored to a similar high standard, and the culmination of all this expenditure is a car which exudes both style and class. There is a vast history file accompanying the car with copious handwritten notes detailing all aspects of the restoration, receipts, photographs of the restoration in progress and correspondence. Sunbeams are undervalued in the current classic car market and at present offer tremendous value compared to their contemporaries. 1101E now offers the next lucky owner vintage sporting motoring at its finest. Description a) All lots are sold and purchased ‘as seen’. A vehicle sold ‘as seen’ is sold and purchased for what it is and with all its faults (if any) and without any condition, warranty or other term (whether expressed or implied and whether implied by statute, common law, custom or otherwise) as to the age, description, mileage, suitability, fitness for purpose, merchantable quality or roadworthiness of the vehicle. b) Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the description of each lot, but these, whether made orally or in the catalogue, are expressions of opinion and not representations of fact. Illustrations whether in the catalogue, on the web site, or sent by email are solely for guidance and must not be relied upon in any manner whatsoever. Most lots are of an age and nature which precludes their being in pristine condition. The condition of any lot and the nature of any damage and/or restoration should be confirmed by the buyer by examination prior to the sale. All prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves as to the condition, colour, age and all other matters relating to any lot and no claims will be accepted in respect of any such matter. c) Each buyer by making a bid for a lot acknowledges that he has satisfied him or herself fully as to the condition of the lot. Neither Charterhouse nor the sellers of any lot will accept responsibility for any misrepresentations, misdescriptions or omissions obtained in this catalogue.
11)
Contract of Sale a) On the fall of the hammer, a contract of sale is completed between the seller and the buyer. Charterhouse is not a party to the contract of sale and shall not be liable for any breach thereof by the buyer or the seller. b) If successful in buying a lot, please ensure that your number can be seen by the auctioneer and that it is your number that is called out. Should there be any doubts as to price or buyer, please drawer the auctioneer’s attention to it immediately. Please contact the accounts desk with details of how you will pay. c) The ownership of the lot(s) purchased will not pass to the buyer until the buyer has paid the auctioneers in full the total amount due and the auctioneers have applied such payment to the lot.
12)
Transfer of Risk. Each lot shall be the purchaser’s sole risk from the fall of the hammer and shall be sold with all faults and imperfections, the auctioneer not being responsible for the correct description, genuineness or authenticity of any lot and making no warranty whatsoever. Commission Bids. If instructed, the auctioneers will execute bids and advise prospective purchasers. This service is free. Lots will always be purchased as cheaply as is allowed by such other bids and reserves as are on the auctioneer’s books. In the event of identical bids, the earliest will take precedence. There must always be a maximum limit indicated, ie the amount to which you would bid if you were attending the auction yourself. "Buy" or unlimited bids will not be accepted. Commission bids placed by telephone are accepted at the client’s risk. We do accept commission bids by facsimile and email, providing they are accompanied by full name and address details. We urge our clients to place such commission bids within one hour of the close of the view day.
14)
Telephone Bids. Requests for telephone bidding must be registered with the Accounts department within one hour of the close of the view day. It may not be possible to accept requests on sale days. Written confirmation of such bids from persons unknown to the auctioneers must be received before the commencement of the sale. All such arrangements therefore are made entirely at the prospective buyer’s risk.

Vehicles not collected by this time will be removed to a compound at Evercreech at a cost of £70.00 + VAT per vehicle. Motorcycles not collected by 2.30 pm on the Monday following the sale will be removed to our head office in Sherborne at a cost of £40.00 + VAT per motorcycle. Lots will only be released to the buyer or their authorised representative upon presentation of release notes issued by Charterhouse and settlement of any removal, handling and storage charges due. Purchasers are reminded that each lot shall be the purchasers sole risk from the fall of the hammer. Buyers should be aware that no lots will remain at the auction site after 2.30 pm on the Monday following the sale.
