SKILLCORPS ORIENTATION
®
YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE ON WHAT TO EXPECT AND MORE WHILE AT ORIENTATION IN BROOKLYN, NY!
The Next Step in Your Journey! Orientation is a time to connect with your team, other SkillCorps® travelers, and our Global Autism Project team. During this time you will learn more about the mission and vision of the Global Autism Project and your role within this movement. At orientation you will also have the chance to earn those coveted CEU credits. One of our favorite experiences at orientation is our Wednesday evening movie screening. Every SkillCorps® member will come together to watch a film that will be sure to surprise, inspire, and move you. Lunch will be provided to you each day at orientation as well as coffee, water, and snacks. While dinner is not provided, our team will provide you with a list of tasty choices to help you experience the best Brooklyn has to offer! Dinner is a great time to socialize with other SkillCorps® members who you might not be traveling with.
LOGISTICS ARRIVAL LOGISTICS Where do I go when I arrive? You will go to the Global Autism Project office to meet our team and drop your luggage (if arriving before 4 pm) at: 252 3rd Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215 anytime after 4 pm EST! You can come to the office anytime on Tuesday before orientation, our office opens at 8:30 am. Where will I stay? You'll be staying at a hotel walking distance from the Global Autism Project office, at either the Fairfield Marriott Brooklyn or the Holiday Inn Express Park Slope. We will give you your keys to the hotel when you arrive at the office for registration, as the hotel will not allow early check-in. You can expect to share a room with another SkillCorps member who will not be on your team, so get to know each other! How will I get there? We've included a subway map in this section of the App, but you can also just take a taxi, uber, or lyft from the airport to our office. All you need is the address -- listed above! What time is registration and the Welcome Reception? Registration will begin at 4 pm, at which point we will distribute hotel keys and show you to your nearby hotel. The Welcome Reception is from 6-9 pm at the orientation venue, also just a block or two away! We will provide a map and instructions at registration so you know exactly where to go! What if I arrive early? You can drop your bags at the Global Autism Project office so that you're free to roam around Brooklyn. We will give you pointers, but you may want to google some options for site-seeing. What if I arrive late? If you arrive after 9pm, we'll be sad to have missed you at the Welcome Reception! You will go straight to your hotel, so please email skillcorps@globalautismproject.org to let us know if you need your hotel room information ahead of time.
