...is MEDS? MEDS aspires to be an inclusive event, reaching out to the city and inviting active involvement from bodies and institutions relating to the field of design. It will bring with it an added excitement, vibrancy and creative energy to the city of Dublin this summer.
The Meeting of Design Students (MEDS) is an established international network of young designers that meets annually for a 2 week workshop. This 5th year of the event is taking place this August in Dublin. Up to 250 third-level students and young graduates of various design disciplines from around the world will participate in a variety of workshops that foster the development of design, communication, leadership, technical and social skills in a dynamic multi-cultural environment. These workshops are based on collaborative and co-operative learning, affording participants great opportunities in terms of skill and idea sharing. For many, it is of great benefit to engage in such an informal learning process to complement their more prescribed traditional educational program.
This year visiting delegates will travel from the following countries:
This year’s MEDS will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase Dublin’s history and heritage to participants from all over the world, and to promote the city as a centre of excellent and progressive design. MEDS events of the past have produced built works that have been featured in leading design publications, and this year guarantees to produce an ever higher standard of work. The design output will be placed on exhibition to the general public at various participating venues throughout the city centre.
Albania Armenia Belgium Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Canada Denmark England France
Furthermore, much of the output of the workshops will be directly donated to Dublin-based charities, to maximise the positive social impact of MEDS.

This ever expanding MEDS community is constantly updated on the happenings of the event with online written, photographic and video documentation produced by the participants.
MEDS Global Green 2014 will be an event of very significant scale for the Architecture, Design and Construction communities in Ireland, hosting up to 250 participants and tutors. The event has already generated a great deal of interest and support among the wider creative community across Europe and will receive wide coverage in the media. Locally, we have secured the support of educational bodies such as the Dublin Institute of Technology; the support of the Dublin City Council and FĂĄilte Ireland, not to mention the many architectural practices such as SĂŠan Harrington Architects.
Exhibitions, open to the public, will be held in all of the participating venues. It is intended that sponsors names and logos will be prominently displayed at each of these. If you have any questions, queries or would like to discuss any aspect of our proposals in greater detail, we would be delighted to sit down with you and discuss our plans further.
Our workshop creations and constructions have been published in the high profile online design journals Dezeen and ArchDaily as well as the Architecture Journal, each of which have several million readers per month. We have already confirmed coverage with these journals prior and post workshop, which is a big promotional opportunity for our partners.
Kind Regards,
The MEDS 2014 Organising Committee
The Irish Times will also provide coverage and we will carry out radio interviews prior to and during the event to discuss the workshops, scope of the enterprise, as well as expressing gratitude and discussing our sponsors and partners.
