Come to GHC's upcoming evening salon so that you can reconnect, exchange ideas, and chat with GHC and its members about your priorities and plans. The first salon will take place in February 2015. More details to come. Attention GHC members: Join the 2015 GHC delegation to the WHA. GHC has begun planning for the 68th WHA in Geneva from May 18-23. Please complete the WHA interest survey now. The GHC delegation will have access to hotel room blocks beginning this month, along with pre-WHA policy scrums, information sessions, and more. GHC will be launching its new website in the coming weeks! Stay tuned!

Global Health Roundup The World Bank Group recognizes the critically important role that civil society plays in policy dialogue, service delivery in global health and development. A call for nominations to select 7 new members of the World Bank Group's Civil Society Consultative Group on Health, Nutrition and Population (WBG-CSCG-HNP or the Group) is now open. Nominations are now open for the 2015 Roux Prize, a US$100,000 award launched in 2013 to recognize individuals or groups who have used disease burden evidence to take action that makes people healthier. The prize was founded by philanthropists David and Barbara Roux and is awarded annually by GHC-member the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). Co-hosted by the Ebola Private Sector Mobilization Group (EPSMG), the UN-Business Collaboration for the Global Ebola Response event convened over 150 representatives from the private sector, civil society, governments and multilaterals in New York. Find resources regarding the private sector Ebola response on the GBCHealth website and join over 50 companies who have already signed the Global Compact Business Action Pledge on Ebola Elimination.


Advocacy Update GHC has been admitted as a non-state actor participant in WHO's new Global Coordination Mechanism (GCM) on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). For additional information on GCM as well as for regular and new updates please visit the GCM web page. The 114th Congress convened earlier this month and with it comes new committee assignments, as well as the start of the appropriations process for FY16. Read more. PMNCH released a report synthesizing the views of over 1,400 individuals and organizations on the proposed Global Financing Facility (GFF). Done at the request of the World Bank, the report will form part of the process to update the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' health in 2015.

Save the Date Upcoming GHC Events January 26 - February 3, 2015: A GHC delegation is headed to Geneva for the annual WHO Executive Board Meeting at the end of January. The meeting will confirm the May 2015 World Health Assembly agenda and adopt resolutions to be forwarded to the Assembly. Board Members will discuss priority issues in the multiple areas and a special session on Sunday, January 25 will focus on the response to Ebola in west Africa. April 16, 2015: GHC is hosting its annual The Future of Global Health (TFGH) 2015 networking event on Thursday, April 16 at the Hamilton Live. Mark your calendars and get ready for exciting and engaging conversations around global health.
