Highlights of the Forum included plenary sessions with keynote remarks from Professor William Easterly with New York University and Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes. Over 50 workshops focused on topics such as the Ebola response, domestic resource mobilization, and community-led development.

Creating equitable and sustainable access to safe water and improved sanitation and hygiene (WASH) can immensely benefit maternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH). WASH Advocates' fact sheet explains how using WASH as a strategy to advance MNCH could further improve gender equality and human rights crucial to the post-2015 development agenda. The DataShift's new blog, Post-2015 Zero Draft: Where Do We Stand on CitizenGenerated Data? investigates how the zero draft discusses the role of citizen-generated data in tracking and driving progress on the SDGs. The DataShift is also convening a conference call on July 9th to collaborate on SDG monitoring, and is looking for interested organizations and individuals to participate.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Bank Group recently released a report, Toward Universal Health Coverage and Equity in Latin America and the Caribbean Evidence from Selected Countries, on the progress made toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Recommendations in the report address health system financing and efficiency, some of the top challenges to sustainability. The "Fifth Birthday and Beyond" initiative took place last summer on Capitol Hill to celebrate the progress made in child survival and health, particularly through U.S. collaborations and bipartisan support. Since 1990, deaths under the age of five years have seen a 53% reduction this past year. Check out this one-pager with resources to help you advocate for increased support in helping children survive and thrive. A Sixth Birthday and Beyond is within reach!
