PRIMARY BEDROOM SUITE

The primary suite remodel focused on a traditional European yet luxurious bathroom. Lofted through the attic space, a vaulted ceiling was created that features a back-lit custom art glass skylight. A 1910 Czech hand-blown and hand-etched, motherof-pearl finish antique pendant light fixture complements the custom stained-glass skylight. The wall sconces in the bathroom are c. 1910-1920 antique lighting that have been meticulously refurbished and installed. The bathroom features an elegant 6-foot long, double-slipper, clawfoot cast iron tub as well as a heated towel rack.

The original main bath and closet were re-oriented to create spacious and dramatic new rooms. Statuary marble wainscoting and floors result in a soft palette that echoes the architectural details found throughout the home.

The walk-through closet is outfitted with custom built-in cabinetry and a generous 8-foot long dresser topped with Carrara marble that reflects the detailing in the bathroom.

Built-in floor-to-ceiling bookcases and a traditional cast iron gas fireplace were added to create a library in the sitting area of the primary suite, which is separated from the bedroom area by French doors composed of crystal panes that are original to the house. The renovation work undertaken in the primary suite produced a calm, light-filled sanctuary befitting this resplendent home.
