Insights

GROUP APPROVED Activity Leader. Hello, my name is Rob and I have been working as an activity leader for several years. I love this job because I get the opportunity to show people from all over the world how amazing New York is. When traveling to different countries in the past I was astonished by how hospitable everyone was towards me. This job gives me the chance to provide a similar experience to the groups I take care of. Having picnics with our students in Central Park, enjoying the amazing view from the Empire State Building and showing them the spectacle at Times Square are just some highlights of the activities we experience. As I’m very familiar with the surroundings of NY, I always share the hidden treasures of the city with my groups. I communicate on a regular basis with my activity leader colleagues from our other nine GEOS Languages PLUS schools to exchange ideas and experiences. We figured out that our students enjoy major attractions like the CN Tower in Toronto and the Walk Of Fame in LA but they’re also just as eager to explore places off the beaten track. An example of that would be “Shake Shack” in Manhattan, which real New York foodies know as one of the best burger joints in the Big Apple.

About

We host students from all over the world, with different age groups and diverse cultural backgrounds. Our aim is to satisfy our guests and provide them with the best time possible, which involves great preparation and a high level of responsibility, paired with a lot of passion. I’m already exited to get the chance to meet YOU in the city that never sleeps.

Recreation abroad. Languages are not just learnt in the classroom! GEOS Languages PLUS offers a multitude of exciting leisure activities ensuring each and every group member has the time of their life while developing their language skills and making new friends from around the world! Whether it be walking or cycling tours of the city, sampling the local cuisine or taking part in a variety of sporting activities, participants soak up the local language and culture effortlessly.

In New York students will be inspired by world famous landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. In Toronto, we’ll take them to the CN tower, and in Boston, they’ll discover the legendary Fenway Park and walk the Freedom Trail. Both California schools offer the opportunity to be enchanted by the magic of Disneyland. In Calgary, the group will journey to the legendary Rocky Mountains, and in Ottawa visit the Canadian Parliament. Vancouver offers breath-taking views while snowboarding at some of the best resorts in North America, and in Victoria we’ll take your group out on the ocean to see the whales of the Pacific Coast.

All activities are managed by our enthusiastic and specially trained activity leaders, who are experts in guaranteeing that all participants make the most out of every minute of their trip. Students can rely on them throughout their stay to show them the highlights of their chosen destination, as well as to take them off the beaten track to discover some of the cities’ best kept secrets. Actual programs available may vary slightly from those published, but regardless of what you choose to do, the fun factor is guaranteed! There are two activity packages to choose from: Package 1 offers four weekday excursions or activities with one full-day weekend excursion. Package 2 offers 4 different weekday excursions or activities. Students also have the option of combining the two packages, guaranteeing non-stop adventure!

HOMESTAY

RESIDENCES

Completely immerse yourself in culture and live in a Canadian home while you study at GEOS Languages PLUS. Living in a homestay allows you to maximize that production time – whether speaking to your homestay family or fellow housemates from around the world. There are many other advantages to a homestay, however. Overseas parents also get the peace of mind that there are adults in the house who have been carefully selected and screened by homestay professionals and cleared with police checks. Often, we can introduce the student to the homestay family before they arrive so that the relationship can start in lead-up to the study period. All homestays are within one hour maximum of GEOS Languages PLUS and most are much closer than that; we encourage students to keep in mind the sprawling nature of North American cities when they book with us. It’s often said that, the further out a student is willing to go, the nicer the house and the better the experience! Any issues can be brought to our homestay staff who will happily contact the family to address the concerns a student may have by phoning or contacting the family directly. Students can choose to have 3 meals per day prepared by the family (full-board) or just breakfast and dinner (half-board). We can also find a vegetarian, Halal or Kosher family, as well as take care of any dietary issues such as allergies when booking your homestay. Your comfort is our foremost concern and we’re happy to make every effort to ensure you have the best experience possible.

Most of our destinations offer residence accommodation. Some locations include dorm options for students who like the traveling lifestyle, while others choose to stay in a private room. In several cities international hostels provide excellent, clean and safe options for young adults and GEOS Languages PLUS only works with the very best of them. In the summer months some university campuses open their dorms to international students. Options will vary, depending on the destination, from university dorms with cafeterias to a downtown hostel a short walk or transit ride away from the school. While we always do our very best to ensure you get first choice of accommodation, all options are subject to availability.

Activities | AcComModation

When studying with GEOS Languages PLUS students are presented with a wide range of accommodation options, guaranteeing that each and every guest has the perfect “home away from home“ While we always do our very best to ensure you get your first choice of accommodation, all options are subject to availability.

>> GEOS Group Programmes are amazing! We learnt so much in such a short amount of time, I didn’t think it was even possible! Evenings were action packed with activities, so we really got to see Toronto at its best! GEOS took the learning requirements of our group into consideration and put together a program which was a perfect fit. The booking process was easy, our GEOS advisor took the lead on everything, and the staff in the school couldn’t have been more supportive. We had a few students in the group with special dietry requirements and were a little concerned, but GEOS did everything possible to accommodate their needs perfectly. All in all, we learnt a lot and had a great time in the process! I would definitely recommend GEOS. <<
