TAPS FEATURES TAP OPERATING PRESSURES Plumbing systems can sometimes suffer from poor flow rates. The UK is unique in that many homes are still using the more traditional, low pressure gravity fed plumbing systems which are most commonly found in older properties. European manufacturers tend to design taps suitable for more modern plumbing systems which can often cause problems when installed in a typical UK home, resulting in a disappointing flow rate when using the taps.
Tavistock’s in-house design team have recognised this problem and engineered our taps so that all of them are suitable for use with both high and low pressure systems. All of our taps operate at 0.1 bar or above (0.1 bar is equal to 1 metre head of water). In plumbing terms this means, for a gravity fed system, if the base height of your water tank is 1m above a tap, then you will have 0.1 bar of water pressure at the tap.
If you are unsure, we recommend you seek advice from your plumber who will advise you on the plumbing system you have and the likely water pressures it can achieve. If pressures are too low even for our low pressure taps, you will be able to increase your water pressure using a suitable water pump, and again either your retailer or plumber can advise you on this. Please note that all of our taps are also suitable for high pressure plumbing systems.

CHROME PLATING Repeated and extensive polishing operations followed by the highest standards in chrome plating ensure that our taps will stay looking good for many years to come.
INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS AND FLEXIBLE SUPPLY HOSES All of our taps are simple to install by either a competent DIYer or qualified plumber. All connections use standard BSP (British Standard Pipe) sizing. Our range of basin mixers are supplied with high quality 350mm long stainless steel braided flexible hoses with 15mm compression fittings for easy installation.

TRAPS AND WASTES Our tap ranges are perfectly complemented by our stylish and modern chrome plated bottle trap and collection of wastes. All bath taps are supplied without wastes as it is normal to purchase your waste with your bath. We have a choice of bath wastes with overflow in 2 different lengths depending upon your installation requirements. Taps supplied with a pop-up waste include a waste outlet, pop-up rod and lifting mechanism. Please note that Blaze, Siren, Index and Logic mini and basin mixers are supplied with a click waste. For taps supplied without pop-up wastes, we have a few waste options as shown. Unslotted wastes are for use where no integral overflow is required in the wash basin. All dimensions in mm are approximate and should be used as a guide only. All sizes quoted are within reasonable tolerances.
