Algona High School Scarlet Regiment participates in North Central Marching Invitational FORT DODGE — The Algona High School Scarlet Regiment Marching Band participated in the North Central Marching Invitational, Sept. 27, in Fort Dodge. The band was evaluated by six adjudicators and earned a total score of 73.3 on a 100-point scale. The Scarlet Regiment’s performance earned them a second place position in Class 3A out of six bands. It also earned them third place overall out of 10 participating bands. The Scarlet Regiment was awarded two caption awards from the festival, the Best Marching Award and Best Percussion Award. The Scarlet Regiment’s 2014 show is entitled “A Spanish Fusion.”

THANK YOU Thank You Words cannot express our grief and sorrow over Kalin’s sudden death, or his wonderful tributes made to honor him. We appreciated all the love and support shown to our family at this time. A special heartfelt thanks to the first responders of the Meservey Fire and Rescue team, ambulance and life flight, all the doctors, nurses in the emergency room and CCU at Mercy Hospital, Rev. Meester, all those who came to be with us there, the Meservey Fire Dept., the Bikers, Tony and Laurie of Andrews Funeral Home, the RCWM women of the Meservey Reformed Church, those that came to help finish the machine shed roof and to mow the lawn. Also thanks for all the cards, kind words, memorials, phone calls, food, flowers, hugs and prayers for Kalin. The final ride to home once more with his motorcycle leading the way, the Fire Dept. tribute with all the flags, trucks, all the bikers and the final call paging Kalin one last time was so touching. We’ll never forget it. He will continue to live on in our hearts and memories through his son Koty, whom he loved so much, his smile and through the donor program. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
