Pastor’s Profile Pr Joseph Chen & Deborah Sun Pr Joseph Chen, founder of the Glory City Church of Melbourne. Graduated from Melbourne School of Theology, Chinese Department, received a FullTime ministry calling at the age of 18, and after much preparation, equipping, and ministry experience, is now devoted to raise up a new generation of church that will transform cities and nations for Christ! Deborah Sun, his wife, graduated from Monash University, is now in charge of the admin, prayer ministry, and pastoral care ministry.

Melbourne being the second largest city in Australia, as well as the “most livable city in the World” in 2011, is now well on its way to have 5million people and being the fastest growing city in Australia. Being the capital of multiculturalism in Australia, Melbourne boast a rich mix of European and Asian migrants, where mainland Chinese holds 10% of the population, adding all mandarin speaking migrants, there are well over 700,000 people. With such a huge stats, 60+ Chinese churches in Melbourne may just cover over 1.5% of that population, and is rapidly aging and seeing second generation Chinese flowing out of church due to cultural and
generational gaps, as well as secular temptations in family, career, and entertainment fun. There is also a big issue with Gay Rights, Abortions, Sex industry, Drug & Alcohol, Gambling…etc. Melbourne just seems to be involved in everything the World has to offer. It is with this urgency and passion to see a breakthrough and transformation that GLORY CITY CHURCH of MELBOURNE is born out of. As the Bible tells us that “City on a hill cannot be hidden”, so must we also be seen and heard in this generation, as we proclaim God’s sovereignty and dominion, and his good news of Salvation in every aspect of this urban life.
