GMA Network (GMA) continued to lead over competition in nationwide TV ratings, according to data from the industry’s trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
GMA ruled across all day parts in NUTAM, including the hotly contested primetime block. The Kapuso Network also dominated competition in Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of the total urban TV household population in the country,with an average people audience share of 48.3 percent as against ABSCBN’s 30.3 percent.
From March 1 to 31 (with March 26 to 31 based on overnight data), GMA maintained its advantage in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) with 41.7 percent people audience share, leading ABS-CBN’s 36.3 percent with 5.4 points.

About Nielsen TV Audience Measurement Nielsen data is gathered through a greater number of sampled homes nationwide in comparison to Kantar Media. With approximately 900 more homes surveyed in Total Urban and Rural Philippines compared to Kantar, Nielsen data is statistically considered more representative of the total TV population. In 2016, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement increased its client pool to a total of 36 clients/subscribers which now include 12 local TV networks, 5 regional clients, 2 blocktimers, and 17 media agencies.

GMA News pillar Jessica Soho renewed her contract with GMA Network last April 4. With a career in the broadcast industry spanning more than three decades, Soho revealed that she is happy to renew her contract with the Kapuso Network. “Parang ang GMA at ako, may forever. Kasi ever since naman, mula magsimula
ako hanggang ngayon, ito lang ang tahanan ko,” she shared. Soho hosts the top-rating and awardwinning news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) on GMA. She also anchors GMA News TV’s flagship evening newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho (SONA) and is the host of the investigative news magazine program Brigada.

Kapuso pride Michael V. signed a new contract with GMA Network on March 15. The Kapuso comedy genius is happy to renew his ties with his home Network for more than two decades. “Twentyone years na akong Kapuso. Ito talaga ‘yung bahay ko. Sinubukan kong gumawa ng project sa ibang Network pero dito talaga ‘yung puso ko, hindi
ko maaalis. Isa pa, masaya ako sa ganda ng relasyon ko with everyone here to the point na parang hindi na boss ‘yung turing ko sa kanila, kundi parang kamag-anak na,” said Michael V.
Kris Bernal and Mike Tan renewed their exclusive contracts with GMA Network recently. Kris was discovered in the fourth season of the reality-based artista search Starstruck. After almost ten years of being a Kapuso, Kris has been blessed with numerous projects that showcased her versatility and talent and the Network is proud to have her as one of its homegrown artists. Mike, on the other hand, was the Ultimate Male Survivor during the second season of Starstruck. He has been with GMA for over 13 years. Kris will top bill the remake of the successful TV series Impostora. GMA Network Declares P3.548 B Cash Dividends returns to its shareholders. “Since our IPO launch in 2007, we have been paying out cash dividends equivalent to almost 100 percent of our net income every year,” Gozon said. The Network has declared total dividend per share and total dividends amounting to P3.91 and P19.004 billion, respectively, from 2008 to 2017.
GMA Network’s Board of Directors approved the declaration of cash dividends totaling P3.548 billion, or P0.73 per share, in a meeting held at the GMA Network Center in Quezon City on March 27.
The dividend will be paid on May 15, 2017 to shareholders of record as of April 20, 2017. GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon said that the Company’s declaration of cash dividends reaffirms its commitment of providing the best
Gozon is likewise confident that while the Network’s financial performance reached unprecedented levels in 2016, highlighted by a 72 percent increase in net income, the Company will achieve its financial targets in 2017. “Even without political advertisements this year, we are expecting GMA’s financial performance to be even better than last year,” Gozon declared.

“KS sa US” is the first international event to feature both Alden and Maine, who first met via split-screen in the popular “Kalyeserye” segment of the longestrunning Philippine noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’. The GMA Network Excellence Award (GNEA) has expanded its scope on its 15th year, now allowing students of technology-based courses to vie for the annual honor. This was announced during the recent signing of the memorandum of agreement between GMA Network and its partner organizations - Airfreight 2100 Inc. (Air21), YesPinoy Foundation Inc., Don Bosco Technical College, Angeles University Foundation, and University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication Foundation Inc. - which formalized the collaboration for this year’s GNEA program.
With this development, the GNEA is now conferring two awards – one for the best Communication student (Mass Communication, Multi-media Arts, or Advertising) and another for the outstanding student of technologybased courses (Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology). The two winners shall each receive a cash prize of P50,000 and a plaque.
